The Lost Vampire System Chapter 21 -The Gaming World
Jareth opened his eyes to find himself in a white room. He looked around the white room but there was nothing else.
Is this the gaming world, Jareth though just as a screen popped up in front of his face.
"Welcome," A soothing robotic said as a screen popped up in the middle of the room.
The screen changed to show Jareth's body. On the side showed hair, head, body, legs, and feet. There were also accessories that were on the sides. Before Jareth could do anything, a new screen popped up.
"New user detected," NYXIS said. "Would you like to create a new account. You must have an account to access the game.
"Well, this is cool," the voice of Apollo said.
"How are you in here? The Half-ling asked.
"The game mechanics must be good. It copied every aspect of you," the god answered.
Jareth went and selected yes.
"Please choose your name," The game asked.
Jareth started to think about his name. Something with his name in it like Madison did.
"Don't do that," Apollo stated as Jareth was accidently projecting his thoughts. "We can't risk your name getting around.
"Not even my first name?" Jareth asked.
"No," Apollo answered. "We can't risk it."
"Ok," Jareth replied a little surprised at what Apollo stated. "So, I'll need to come up with a gamer tag."
"Just as long as your name isn't in there," Apollo reminded the Half-ling.
Jareth rolled his eyes as he started to think about the name. I could something related to what I am, he thought.
"Or you can do something related to me," Apollo suggested.
The Half-ling pondered what he should do.
"Maybe we could do both," Jareth suggested.
"Alright, alright," Apollo said sounding giddy. "Maybe the name can be a combination of two words. One word representing one of us. Like…Solar…Siphon?" he suggested like he didn't like the name.
"I can see solar but what about siphon?"
I don't know. You are supposed to drink human blood, so you siphon strength off of them?"
"No," Jareth said. "What about Blood of Dawn."
"Too obvious," Apollo said. "Maybe CrimsonSolar. Wait, no, CrimsonSun."
"Ok, ok," I kind of like that. "Let's go with it."
Jareth entered the name into the box.
"Error," the voice of the game said. "Name is in use."
"What about CrimsonDawn?" Apollo suggested.
"That sounds better," Jareth said as he typed it into the game as he looked around the room to see if anything else had changed.
"Name accepted," The voice of NYXIS said. "Registering your scan of your body with your new account. Registration complete. Please create your avatar. Would you like to keep your form of a male or change it to a girl? Changing your gender may hinder your fighting skills as practicing it in the game may not register properly when you fight with your real body."
"Let's not complicate things," both Apollo and Jareth immediately said as Jareth selected male.
The screen went away showing the avatar selection page. Jareth scrolled choosing a body structure that looked slightly better than his. He changed his facial appearance slightly so he wouldn't be recognized. He noticed that there were quite a few things that he would have to buy if he wanted it. Regardless, there was a lot of free choices. When scrolling and choosing outfits he wanted to choose something that looked dystopian, something from an era of gangs if it existed. He selected bright orange hair, and an orange and dark teal suit. His selection made him look like a gang boss from another world. (If you know, you know).
When Jareth was done, he selected the Confirm done.
"Avatar and clothing selected," the game interface said. "Since this is your first time, is there a friend or someone who has decided to join you for your first gaming session?"
A screen popped up that showed a yes button and a button that said no, just take me into the game.
Jareth selected the yes button but he paused. He couldn't actually remember Madison's gamer tag.
"It was demonicMadison1," Apollo answered.
"Thank you," Jareth said as he started to type the name in.
"Where would you be without me," Apollo snickered.
"Probably dead," Jareth casually answered.
"Oh, right."
Jareth pressed the Enter button, and a screen slid into his view. You have sent a friend request to demonicMadison1. Within two seconds, the message changed to: demonicMadison1 has accepted your friend request. Immediately after, another message slid into his vision: demonicMadison1 has invited you to her location. Yes or no?
Jareth temporary heisted before selecting the yes button. After selecting yes, the white room broke apart and William could feel himself falling.
"Agh!" Jareth yelled as he was moved through a world of broken fragments.
He could feel himself going up and down. His stomach felt like it wanted to come out. The fragments didn't just drift; they accelerated into a blur of jagged light. Jareth stopped falling and started launching. The vertical climb was a physical assault. It felt like his skin was being peeled back by the sheer velocity, his body caught in a cosmic windpipe that didn't care about his anatomy. One second, he was plunging into the dark, and the next, he was a projectile inside a screaming pillar of prismatic energy. Colors he didn't have names for whipped past, blurring into a solid wall of neon static. Every nerve ending sparked. The air tasted like scorched metal and ozone, thick enough to choke on. He tried to scream again, but the sound was swallowed by a deep, bone-rattling hum that vibrated straight through his skull.
The world outside the beam was a smear of white needles. Then, the pressure peaked. His vision flared white, and the upward pull snapped. Jareth slammed into solid ground. The silence was sudden and violent. He stayed down, gasping as the static discharge hissed off his clothes like steam. His equilibrium was still light-years behind him, leaving his head spinning while the smell of burnt air lingered in his lungs.
He opened his eyes to find himself in a small circle. A white circle just big enough to surround his body. He had landed in a kneeling position but he didn't feel pain upon landing. He stood up, looking around, and it looked like he was in a room full of them, like a teleportation landing zone for the game. There were about twenty in the room. About every three seconds or so one person would land like where he was.
"You looked confused," A female voice stated. "I'm going to assume you're him, CrimsonDawn."
Jareth turned his head to see Madison. She was wearing a skin tight gothic dress. She had curly purple hair with an Egyptian style eyeliner. Madison smiled at Jareth seeing his confused face.
"demonicMadison1?" Jareth question.
"Just call me Madison," she said. "The generic Madison was taken a while ago. I can see you have the gang vibe going. Maybe you can join one in here."
"Join one?" Jareth asked.
"Well, of course," she said. "Whatever you wanted to do in the real world, you can do here, where your only limit is your imagination and the age verification places. Anyway, I would like to welcome you to NYXIS. There is a lot to show you, but first we need to talk in a private place. Follow me, CrimsonDawn."
