Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 - CopyLord’s Rampage

The Lost Vampire System Chapter 46 - CopyLord's Rampage

As soon as CyberGirl's suit was finished, her right hand changed into a larger one, grabbing Jareth by the chest and wrapping around to his back. Without any hesitation, she took off at a speed comparable to at least a level 9 speedster.

"NO!" Damion roared as he blasted off the ground, flying after her as a large amount of lightning channeled around his body.

CyberGirl turned a corner to leave the town, and Damion followed at the same speed. His eyes glowed as he activated his Nephilim power, and beams of energy shot out toward CyberGirl. She saw the attack coming and took a sharp left into the forest, careful not to accidentally hit CrimsonDawn.

Damion, however, was not careful. His laser vision tore through a tree as he flew straight through it, lightning igniting it into flames. CyberGirl began to zigzag, but Damion kept his laser vision locked on her, tearing through trees as if they were nothing and starting a forest fire.

"How powerful is he?" she muttered as she barely dodged his vision while taking another turn. "How many Evolved powers can he copy?"

She took a left, heading into another small town, but Damion got lazy and just blasted through a building, taking out two people who were hiding.

Jareth was starting to feel dizzy as the world around him was moving too fast for him to track. He felt his gut roll as she made a hard right, almost slipping as she dodged his laser vision and now his lightning attacks, as half of multiple buildings exploded, sending debris everywhere and killing more people.

She ran into a jungle-like area, zigzagging through it as much as possible, but Damion seemed to be unstoppable as he sliced through vines, exploded trees, and burned everything down as he switched from his lightning attack to his fire attack.

Damion only had the ability to copy three Evolved powers but could only use two of them, so usually he could only have a maximum of three Evolved powers. Besides his Nephilim powers, which allowed him to heal, fly, and have laser vision, his strength was low, so that would be it.

Fortunately for Damion, he was able to buy an angelic armor set at the level of a Tier 6 Becifer that tripled the wearer's natural abilities like strength, speed, and agility. The problem with facing Damion is that he isn't human; he is a Nephilim, so his natural power is tripled, making him a force to be reckoned with even without Evolved powers. That was what initially caught the attention of CyberGirl back in the day.

The reason she didn't mess with him after their initial encounter wasn't the fact that he could copy people's Evolved powers; it was the fact that, unlike everyone else who has more than one power, he could combine the total Evo Cell count of the people he copied. If he copied a level nine, six, and eight, his total power would be twenty-three, which isn't recognized on any chart. If he had acquired lightning, fire, and telekinesis at a high level, which he has, that would give him the power, at least within the game, to challenge the NYXIS factions…alone.

This was the reason she was running for her life. After her suit's AI system warned her that the player's lightning power was beyond calculation, she decided to make a run for it. She didn't want to lose her suit, which she made herself before the stupid contracts were signed.

She exited from the jungle, followed by Damion, and a few seconds later, the entire small jungle was in flames.

"Give him back!" Damion roared as he switched powers while still tailing her with his laser vision.

"What is his third power he acquired?" CyberGirl muttered to herself as she briefly looked behind her.

Damion made an underhand grabbing motion like he was trying to catch a ball. Her eyes widened as the entire grassland field erupted, sending the ground a couple of feet into the sky. She briefly lost her footing as she jumped from piece to piece. Damion made throwing motions as chunks of rock were flung at her.

Does he not notice the fact that I'm holding CrimsonDawn? she thought as she spun in a 360, blasting the dirt chunks apart.

CyberGirl started heading toward another forested area, as that seemed to be the only thing that could slow him down. Contrary to what she expected, the entire front row of trees erupted from the ground and launched toward her.

"Damn his power," she muttered as she avoided his laser vision while also dodging the spinning trees.

Damion switched powers. Even though he could use two at a time, if he wanted full output, he had to focus on one, and he chose fire. The trees ignited and exploded, sending flames raining down on them as she spun and slid between two trunks.

It burns, Jareth and CyberGirl thought as she veered right, heading toward her protection dome.

"No, you don't!" CopyLord's voice boomed as a wall of earth erupted from the ground, blocking her path.

Change of plans, she thought, panic rising. Time to find a ground portal to leave my own event. I need to exit NYXIS and find out who CrimsonDawn is before this psychopath kills me and I lose this suit.

She took a hard left, and his laser vision finally caught up, slicing through the top of her shoulder.

"Ow!" she cried, wincing as she narrowly avoided the next sweep of his attack.

She spotted an orange ground portal ahead and pushed herself harder, accelerating toward it, hoping to escape.

"Trying to escape?" CopyLord asked while opening up NYXIS and selecting the bounty board. "Why don't you feel what the less fortunate feel for a day!"

He selected CyberGirl as his target, placed the word eliminate, and put his entire NYXIS net worth on the line. The number was a little more than 10 billion gold coins that he had been collecting since the first day the game came out. He set a 24-hour in-game timer for when CyberGirl would be at risk of elimination and hit confirm before closing the screen.

Unbeknownst to CyberGirl, CopyLord had just placed the largest bounty ever set in NYXIS—one that would make everyone, both players and non-players, wonder why someone would put such a massive price on the game's creator.

Back at the start of the chase, Madison was in shock as she turned the corner and saw the path of destruction. In the distance, she could see that a forest had nearly burned to the ground.

"What triggered CopyLord?" she wondered out loud as she opened NYXIS and went to the news by NYXIS page.

Her heart practically stopped as she saw the headline.

Creator of NYXIS, CyberGirl, has gotten the biggest bounty of over 10 billion gold coins placed on her head by a player known as CopyLord.

She forgot to breathe for a moment as she took a big breath in. She looked around before looking back at the news. She closed it and opened the bounty board, and sure enough, at the very top was CopyLord's bounty. There was a small comment section filled with people freaking the f*ck out as every game playable in NYXIS was practically abandoned on the spot, with the player base making their way over to CyberGirl's event.

"This is going to make real news," she muttered as she rubbed her curly purple hair, which was her in-game hair color.

Somewhere hidden in the Pacific Ocean, there was an island called Youngblood Island. On this island, in a nice throne room, sat Marguerite Delecroix in a relaxed position as she drank wine. She was just about to get up when her assistant, who was standing in front of her with a tablet in hand, dropped it with a shocked expression on her face.

Marguerite looked at her assistant with genuine curiosity and asked, "What is it, Cara?"

"M…m…my lady," she stuttered as she quickly picked up the tablet. "I was just doing my duty and got curious, so I checked NYXIS news, and I…I…"

"What?" Marguerite asked, more sternly.

"Your great-grandson, who calls himself CopyLord in the game," she paused at the end.

"Yeah," Marguerite said. "What about my great-grandson?"

Cara hesitated before just spitting it out. "He just put a 10 billion gold coin bounty over CyberGirl's head, who is the creator of NYXIS."

Marguerite stared at her assistant before she burst out laughing.

"Agh, ha ha ha," she laughed as she fell off her throne. "What did she do to piss… ha ha… him… ha ha ha ha, off?"

She kept laughing at the sheer amount of money her great-grandson had put up.

"I might just… ha, get on to… ha ha, join in on the… agh, fun," she said as she picked herself off the ground, now just lightly chuckling. Her assistant's eyes widened, and Marguerite noticed. "Don't worry, Cara, I'm just going to watch, as I'm sure the sheer chaos will unfold. Once the two leave, I will leave as well, and please notify me of when my great-grandson gets back on in the future, as I will want to ask why."

The assistant nodded as Marguerite walked behind her throne into an open hallway lined with several gaming pods, except they didn't show a renting price since she owned them.

"Oh, and Cara," Marguerite said. "Kill the traitor. He's been sneaking information to someone on the outside."

Cara nodded as Marguerite stepped into one and closed the door behind her.
