Michael didn't blink. He couldn't.
His jaw tightened, a dull ache blooming in his hinge joints as his mouth drifted open. The familiar grit of the training arena—the dirt he'd bled into for years, the scarred earth he knew by every uneven ridge—had simply ceased to exist. It hadn't faded or blurred; it had been overwritten.
In its place sat Camelot. It wasn't a shimmering projection or some clever trick of the light designed to fool the senses. This was architecture. This was weight. The grassland beneath his boots felt completely natura. stretching far toward the horizon. Massive walls erupted from the ground on all sides, blocking out the sky. Their surfaces were choked with ancient heraldry.
