Anahilapataka, Chaulukya Kingdom — 1180 CE
The first useful answer came from a trader who had spent most of his life carrying salt, iron tools, and dyed cloth between the western settlements and the larger markets of Gujarat. He remembered the old track near Kasahrada, though he had not used it in years. According to him, the road had once been suitable for men on foot and pack animals, but a section of it had become difficult to cross after the rains. The main road was longer, yet merchants preferred it because it passed through villages where they could buy provisions and find shelter. Only people who knew the country well had any reason to take the smaller track.
