Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Silent Confessions

After a few days of that bus incident, Yun Bom found herself thinking about him more than she expected. Every time she stepped outside, her mind wandered to the boy with the calm eyes who had saved her. One morning, she decided to go to her favorite quiet corner of the local library, hoping for a peaceful study session—but she wasn't surprised to find him already there, sitting near the window, sunlight falling across his dark hair.

Their eyes met instantly. Yun Bom felt her cheeks warm, and for a moment, the world seemed to shrink around them. She walked slowly to her usual table, trying to appear casual, but her heart pounded.

Days continued like this—silent glances, small nods, and subtle gestures—but nothing more. The library had become a place of silent comfort, where words weren't necessary, yet feelings were everywhere.

Then one afternoon, Yun Bom noticed a folded piece of paper placed neatly on her table. Her hands trembled as she picked it up.

"I think I like you."

She glanced around, but he had already slipped out silently, just like always. Her chest tightened with a mix of surprise, confusion, and a warmth she couldn't describe. She tried to focus on her books, but her eyes kept drifting to the empty seat beside her.

The next day, another paper appeared, and then another the day after. Each time, it carried the same words, carefully written. And each time, he vanished before she could respond.

Finally, she gathered the courage to communicate with him in her own way. Using her hands and gestures, she signed slowly, clearly:

"I can speak, I can hear—but I didn't know how to respond to you before."

He froze for a moment, his dark eyes widening slightly. Then, with his usual calm, he pulled out his notebook and scribbled quickly:

"I… I had no idea. That doesn't matter. I still like you."

Yun Bom felt a rush of relief and happiness. She smiled softly, realizing that even in his silence, he had understood her completely. She whispered softly to herself, "So that's why he's always so calm, so protective."

From that day on, the library was no longer just a place to study. It became a sanctuary where their silent hearts spoke louder than words ever could. Papers exchanged between them became playful—small jokes, little messages, and unspoken thoughts filled the quiet space. Every glance, every gesture, every note drew them closer.

Yun Bom realized that being able to speak didn't change anything about him—it only made their bond more unique. In those quiet afternoons among books and sunlight, she felt safe, understood, and… seen. And in the midst of the silence, she found something tender and thrilling, something that made her heart race every single day.
