In the small room, an old man in a cowboy hat and bulletproof vest, with an antique, bullet-holed medal pinned to his chest, narrowed his eyes. He opened a bottle of rum and then asked, "How are things in Charter Hill?"

"It's very troublesome, Captain. The conflict with the Tyger Claws was stopped by the higher-ups, which is actually a good thing for us. However, the Tyger Claws have been causing us trouble behind the scenes. Many of our people have been forced to retreat and give up some territory."

Captain Gu Ang was a veteran who participated in the Fourth Corporate War.

Though he looked like a middle-aged man, he was actually over sixty years old, a true elder.

As a veteran, he grew tired of endless fighting after the war, or rather, he couldn't understand what the authorities truly wanted, or what purpose his sacrifices served.

So, Gu Ang chose to retire and returned to his hometown, Santo Domingo.

However, due to Santo Domingo's geographical location and the large number of police fleeing Night City after the end of the Red War, gangs rose to power, and Santo Domingo was plunged into chaos and lawlessness for a period.

Under the leadership of another veteran, Colonel Solomon Wright, the 6th Street Gang was born. A group of veterans with rich combat experience united and pulled Santo Domingo out of the hell of chaos.

But as time passed, the 6th Street Gang also underwent continuous changes, even developing multiple factions within it.

Today, Gu Ang leads a group of people, guarding several streets in Rancho Coronado.

The 6th Street Gang is a gang with a three-branch system, consisting of an investigation department, a combat department, and a management department.

Gu Ang belongs to the management department of the 6th Street Gang.

Hearing this, Gu Ang simply and unhurriedly arranged his pipe, put the tobacco in, and after lighting it, he took a deep puff and said, "It's alright. Once the situation in Heywood is resolved, this mess in Charter Hill will also be over."

"More than that, I'm more concerned about the hospital. Lately, why have we received so much less from the hospital's profits?" Gu Ang tapped his pipe, his eyes narrowing under his cowboy hat.

In front of Gu Ang, a young man wearing a camouflage beret and a blue sports jacket immediately spoke:

"This matter... Captain, the hospital's profits haven't decreased; they've actually increased. But the NCPD is taking too much; they've been getting increasingly unreasonable lately."

"Elaborate," Gu Ang said.

"I sent people to investigate the hospital. Without revealing our identities, it was very difficult for our people to get in. The cops are guarding the hospital very tightly, but I still got a piece of information."

The young man straightened his body and then said, "The NCPD and Lieutenant Magus seem to be doing something inside the hospital, it's just, it's just..."

He didn't know if he should say it out loud.

Gu Ang's eyes moved, and he put down his pipe. He looked at the young man and said, "Speak."

"It's just that the hospital's death rate recently is 37% higher than last year. People who were accidentally injured due to car accidents, cyberpsychosis, gang wars, family issues, and other reasons, after entering the hospital, very few have come out alive."

Gu Ang's pipe trembled in his hand. He turned to the young man expressionlessly: "Can you take responsibility for what you're saying, Reiner?"

Reiner stood straight and said loudly, "Yes, Captain, I can take responsibility for what I'm saying!"

Gu Ang first stared at Reiner in silence, and after a while, he slammed his palm onto the old long table and angrily cursed, "So they're now focusing their eyes on the ordinary people of Santo Domingo, are they?!"

"Get me all the recent intelligence on the hospital!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Reiner quickly turned, left the room, and then returned to Gu Ang with a computer.

Opening the computer, Reiner showed Gu Ang the information he had already organized.

"According to the investigation during this period, I found that starting from March of last year, the NCPD has been doing something in the hospital. By the end of June, Lieutenant Magus sent people to contact the NCPD, and from August onwards, the number of deaths in the hospital due to improper treatment began to rise sharply."

"The hospital in our jurisdiction serves ordinary people, poor casual laborers, and nearby workers. Its facilities and medical staff are not professional.

Therefore, it cannot attract wealthy family clients, and its profits have always been very low. But starting from August of last year, the hospital's profits have significantly increased."

Gu Ang took a deep breath, feeling his head spin. He picked up his pipe, took a deep puff, using the dupin to numb his nerves,

Then he said through gritted teeth, "They've partnered with the Scavengers?"

"That, I haven't investigated..." Reiner said.

"Does that even need investigating?" Gu Ang said grimly. He continued, "A large number of deaths, a sudden increase in profits,

Unexplained police presence. Does that even need investigating?!"

"Bang!"

Gu Ang slammed his fist on the table, his voice filled with sorrow: "When did we become like this?!"

Reiner's eyes began to redden. He held his breath, his body tense.

As one of Gu Ang's subordinates, and one of the many children Gu Ang raised, Reiner knew the old man's character very well.

He had killed many people, whether during the Corporate Wars or the Red War.

Gu Ang had always been a capable leader in the 6th Street Gang, with rich combat experience and high military literacy. The lives lost at his hands, not counting those during the war, amounted to dozens over the years.

Gu Ang was not a good person, but for Santo Domingo, Gu Ang was someone the locals could never despise.

Orphanages, welfare homes, street food distribution—these were all done at Gu Ang's suggestion.

He was the 'old-fashioned elder' who best represented the spirit of the people at the 6th Street Gang's inception.

"Initially, we only had a batch of weapons obtained from the Heywood Police Department. With these weapons and unity, we protected Santo Domingo.

United, Santo Domingo became the fastest recovering area after the nuclear incident. But as corporations returned to Night City, everything changed.

Internal struggles, for money, turning to corporations, NUSA... Is it Militech's NUSA, or NUSA's Militech?

"Money, how much more money do they want? Aren't the weapons and money from Militech enough for them?!"

Gu Ang's face showed a hint of pain, his cowboy hat obscuring his eyes. He whispered, "I love America... but America, it, it doesn't love me!"

Reiner heard these words, and his eyes grew even redder.

"Give me the report on ambulance usage today," Gu Ang said loudly.

"Yes!"

Five seconds later, Reiner said loudly, "Captain, just now, the hospital dispatched an ambulance to the bridge connecting Santo Domingo to the City Center. It departed fifteen minutes ago."

"Send someone to intercept that ambulance. I want to see how Magus is operating!" Gu Ang issued the order.

Yes!

Reiner saluted and said loudly.
