The place Old Captain arranged was in the Rancho Coronado district of Santo Domingo, specifically in an abandoned industrial park near Coronado Farm. When Jax arrived on his motorcycle, it wasn't even noon yet, and as he reached the edge of Rancho Coronado, the foot traffic immediately thinned out.

Because it was close to Coronado Farm, the people there lived a semi-self-sufficient life and were unwilling to interact with people from other areas. Therefore, it was normal for this place to have little foot traffic.

However, at night, this place would be quite lively, with nomads from outside the city, homeless beggars from Night City, and 'rats' who came here to 'do business.'

Upon reaching the designated location, Jax didn't see anyone. Seeing this, he stopped his motorcycle, placed one foot on the ground, and sat on his bike, flipping through his contacts until he found Old Captain and tapped on his name.

The call connected, and Old Captain immediately spoke, "Jax, you've arrived, right?"

Old Captain, with his bob cut, spoke in a hushed tone. Looking at the environment behind him, it was clear he was currently in a place that resembled a shipping container.

"Yeah, I'm here, but where are you? I don't see anything here," Jax asked.

"Hey, I'm just being cautious, aren't I?" Old Captain explained, chuckling. He continued, "Go a few hundred meters further in, then turn left. After you see a building with a missing corner, go another forty meters, and I'll be waiting for you there."

"Buying a car, and it feels like I'm a thief..." Jax muttered in response.

What's the difference between this and being a thief? Old Captain's whole routine made Jax feel a bit dizzy.

I'm buying a car, not stealing one, okay?

"Cough, you are indeed here to buy a car, but me... well, to be honest with you, we'll definitely have a lot more business to do in the future, so I'll just be direct," Old Captain coughed, then continued, "The car you're buying, if it were sold openly, wouldn't go for less than around 250,000 euros, but you're getting it from me for only 160,000. So... you understand."

Jax was amused. "Right, I get it now. I'm here to buy a car, and you, you're here to fence stolen goods, aren't you?"

With that, Jax started his motorcycle and drove further in, following Old Captain's instructions.

The call wasn't disconnected. Old Captain on the other end just chuckled at Jax's words, then continued, "You can rest assured when I handle things, Jax. It's not me bragging, but among all the people selling cars in Night City, my place is the safest."

"Other places might sell cars for a bit cheaper, but the serial numbers on those cars haven't been properly scrubbed. After a regular scan, they're very easy to trace, especially when you've committed a crime. But here, I've made all the safety preparations beforehand. Once you have it, you can boldly drive it on the streets without worrying about being traced."

Old Captain raised his voice and added, "I'm not in this for a one-off sale. I really value customer experience. My main goal is to get repeat customers."

"You can brag to me when I get there and you're standing right in front of me," Jax retorted.

The Fixers in Night City are diverse, and Old Captain stands out among them. More than a Fixer, Old Captain is like a black market car dealer. Other Fixers typically interact with corpo rats, then organize and assign jobs that corpo rats don't want to handle themselves to mercenaries.

But Old Captain?

He calls himself a Fixer, but sometimes he actually assigns jobs himself. He doesn't always have people looking to buy cars, and at such times, Old Captain expands his inventory by finding mercenaries, paying them, and providing intelligence and resources to have them steal cars for him.

Once he gets the cars, Old Captain then posts them on the city's network, putting them up for sale on his own black market car website.

Although it seems to break some rules...

In reality, Old Captain is very popular in Night City, and his reputation in the industry is excellent.

Because he is not a Fixer who would scam mercenaries. On the contrary, his jobs are actually much easier than most jobs assigned by other Fixers. As long as one is bold and careful, even those without many implants can do them.

Besides, Old Captain pays well!

One reason for his good reputation is that Old Captain can sometimes be genuinely loyal. If you run into trouble and ask for his help, he will likely assist you. Even if it's a big problem, he will grumble but still provide some small assistance.

As a player, Jax also had a good impression of Old Captain because when all the other Fixers treated V like an idiot to be messed with, only Old Captain would treat you like his son!

Damn it, my good boy!

"I'm here." Upon reaching the designated location, Jax directly spoke, interrupting Old Captain who was still boasting about how reliable he was and how well he handled things.

Old Captain's end first made the sound of chains unlocking, and then he said, "Look over here!"

Jax heard the sound and turned to look at a blue and red metal container hidden behind the abandoned building.

The metal door was pushed open, and in that small space, Old Captain was squeezed in with a beautiful car, vigorously waving at Jax.

"Over here, hurry up!" Old Captain said with a grin.

Jax walked over and looked at the car he had purchased, his eyes immediately brightening.

This car was truly beautiful. Unlike the cars used for gang armament in places like Santo Domingo, Heywood, and Watson District, this car, from its appearance, clearly belonged to the Charter Hill area.

It had a streamlined exterior, and because it was in the container, he couldn't see the full panorama of both sides of the car, but he could vaguely make out yellow and blue alternating colors.

And the car's front had a high-tech screen. Just by its appearance, would this car be somewhat like a sports car?

But it wasn't that narrow. It was, well, a bit like a purple sports car Maine once bought?

However, this car was clearly better looking than Maine's car, and it also had more space.

Old Captain saw Jax's expression, chuckled, and reached out to pat Jax's shoulder, saying, "160,000. Pay up."

Jax nodded and transferred the money to Old Captain.

The light in his eyes disappeared, and Old Captain's smile widened. He said, "All the paperwork has been sorted out. Just drive it on the road. Don't panic if you encounter an inspection; stay calm, I guarantee nothing will happen. If there's any problem, you can always come to me."

Jax nodded, went up and touched the car, then turned back to Old Captain: "But... how do I get the car out now?"

"There's no way to drive it out, is there?" Jax asked curiously.

The container was too small; Old Captain had just been squeezed in there with no room to move. In such a space, the car doors definitely couldn't open.

In response to Jax's question, Old Captain rolled his eyes: "This car was only produced the year before last, a Rayfield model. Do you think it wouldn't have smart driving capabilities?"

With that, Old Captain took the key from Jax's hand and pressed a button on it.

Then, Old Captain stood aside and looked at Jax.

With a quiet engine hum, the car slowly drove out of the container and, in front of Jax, turned around, aligning the driver's seat very close to Old Captain.

"See, automatic driving function. If you find the car key troublesome or are afraid of losing it, you can also adapt it to your neural implant."

"But for that, you'll have to find a hacker to do it for you. If I were to do it, it would have to wait until the afternoon," Old Captain said, crossing his arms.

Jax quickly shook his head, holding the car key, opening the car door, and happily looking at Old Captain, saying, "No problem, this is fine."

With that, Jax closed the car door and started the car.

"Ding—"

With a ring, the car's interior lit up, and a virtual screen appeared before Jax, with several buttons.

Lights, Drive (Manual/Smart), Music, Optical Camo...

Tapping on Manual Drive, the next moment, the light screen disappeared. Jax found that Manual Drive had two modes: one was an integrated mode, and the other was a normal mode.

Choosing the normal mode, Jax pressed the accelerator, turned the steering wheel, and stepped on the gas.

Old Captain stood in place, a smile on his face: "Another one sold, phew. Their team still has a few people without cars..."

"Huh?"

Old Captain, who was just thinking about selling another car, suddenly froze and looked at the motorcycle parked in front. His eyes lit up.

"This motorcycle..."

A bold idea popped into his head. For Old Captain, the motorcycle sitting there was no different from a peerless beauty. So... could he resist?

Of course, he could resist.

After all, this was the motorcycle that kid Jax rode in on. If possible, Old Captain only wanted to be friends with Jax.

He wasn't going to offend someone like that. For his perfect retirement life... well, making his choice, Old Captain dialed Jax's number.
