Chapter 6 - Confrontation

Oliver and the party make their way towards long house ten. On their way they brainstorm ideas on a party formation they could use for when they would be made to hunt beasts to gain levels and gold.

With Shadow Glades being so close to the Great Forest all citizens who grew up there took basic classes on party formations and other such skills. Using what they were taught they form a basic formation relatively quickly.

Brutus having a tank class would be their front line tank, his class Knight gave him the three skills (Taunt): Draws the attention of all nearby enemies attention for ten seconds.costs 25 mana. (Shield wall): increases the defence of your shield by twenty percent. Costs two mana every three seconds. (Shield Bash) Strike with your shield, doing ten percent increased damage as well as stunning your target for 3seconds. Costs fifty mana.

With those three skills Brutus would be perfect for their frontline.

Tina would be their back line healer/control. Her class is Nature Shaman. The Shaman class is an abnormal class that requires you to have an elemental affinity in order to acquire. The skills you receive depends on which element you have an affinity with. With Tina's affinity being nature her three starting skills are, (Growth): Heal your target. The more severe the wound the higher the mana cost. (Entangling Roots): Roots spring from the ground entangling your target for ten seconds. Costs fifty mana. (Natures Blessing): increases mana regeneration by twenty percent for one minute. Costs fiftymana. With Tina's class they would be able to take on larger groups of foes while not having to worry as much about getting small wounds during a fight.

Trevor is a Scout who uses a bow and arrows as his weapon. With that being the case he will also be a back line fighter and would have to receive cover from Brutus to be effective. Trevor's starting skills are, (Scouts Perception): Increases sight by one-hundred percent as well as slightly slows down time. Costs two mana every three seconds. (Scouts Shot): Increases damage of shot or thrown weapons by ten percent. Costs fifty mana. (Active camouflage): While staying still blend in with your surroundings. Costs one-hundred mana.

Trevor's skills may seem lackluster but would come in handy utility wise when having to track or scout a person, beast, or location.

Now Oliver's class is a little harder to place because he's a Shadow Assassin. He cant really take hits but his increased agility makes him good at dodging attacks. Technicality he's a Front line fighter but his class is more effective if he can get the jump on a enemy instead of attacking them face to face. his skills are, (Shadow Step): Become a shadow and be able to jump between shadows instantly within a fifty feet range. Costs twenty-five mana to become a shadow and seventy-five to teleport to a shadow. (Assassins Blade): Increases damage of weapon by ten percent to non vital areas and twenty percent to a vital areas. Costs fifty mana. (Fleet Footed): Increases agility by twenty percent. Costs two mana every second.

Oliver's class makes it so he will constantly be trying to attack when his enemies are unaware. If he can hit a vital areas with his Assassins blade skill he'll be able to do substantial damage to his targets.

With them having their party formation figured out they use their system to formally enter a party with each other. Formally becoming a party via the system makes it so they will share the experience earned from each kill evenly between party members. This makes it so support classes will be able to level up just as fast as DPS (damage per second) classes. So being in a party is a must for people like Tina whose skills are all geared towards support.

The party finally makes it to the long house numbered ten. Inside they find two rows of cots, one row on each of the outside walls of the building. There are one-hundred cots all together which makes the long house fairly big.

The party finds cots at the very end of the long house with them all being next to each other. Each cot has a wooden trunk at the base of their cot which is for storing their personal belongings. Each of them each only has a knapsack full of clothes which they place inside of their wooden trunks.

Right after they each claim a bunk suddenly four people approach them with one of them slightly leading the others. This leader has long shoulder length blond hair and blue eyes, he's fairly tall and seems to have a slim athletic build. He's wearing chain mail armor on his chest with leather legs, and vambraces, on his head is a steel half helm that keeps his face exposed.

"Sorry these are the cots me and my party members were going to claim. So you'll have to move your stuff and find some other cots to sleep on" The leader of this new party says provocatively.

Oliver steps forward and says "We were here first and already put our stuff away, I'm sorry but its you who will have to find somewhere else to lay your head" Oliver is now face to face with the other party's supposed leader. When Oliver says this, the three others behind the blonde haired man begins to snicker, which makes it clear to Oliver's party, if it wasn't clear before that these four are up to no good and are trying to force a problem.

"Look here I can tell by your shabby equipment that you guys are from some back water little town and that you clearly don't know when to mind your betters. My name is Vincent Vale and my family is a large noble family in Thebes. Now you're either going to move your stuff or me and my party are going to make you." The man says to Oliver and his companions. As he does so his hand goes to the long sword that's sheathed on his waist.

Before Oliver has time to say anything else Brutus steps forward and punch's the blonde haired guy in the face with all his might. The instant choice of violence catch's the other party by surprise and the blonde man goes skidding across the ground and into his three other party members. Two of the three try to draw their weapons, but before their swords can clear their sheaths Oliver materializes behind them to rest his two pitch black daggers against their throats. While Loki is sitting on the last members shoulder with his teeth pressed against his neck and is growling at the man. Through his soulbind Oliver knows that Loki is telling the man, who has a staff in his hands, to just try and do something and he'll rip his throat out.

Everything happens in an instant and the other party cannot believe that things had gotten to this point so fast. Vincent is still laying on the ground trying to get himself together after getting punched by Brutus's armored fist.

"You see with us being from a shabby town on the very edge of the wilderness we don't take kindly to threats and handle them accordingly. Where we come from if your hand strays to you weapon it means you're ready to spill blood. You don't know how many bandits and thugs come through Shadow Glade thinking they can take advantage of the small city environment." Oliver say in a threatening manner.

Brutus then takes his long silver sword and places it against Vincent's throat before saying "Now I'm going to give you to the count of three to get out of here and find your own cots to sleep on, if you and your party are not gone by then we will assume that you're truly ready too spill blood and we'll respond accordingly."

Before Brutus even begins to count the four men are already scrambling away from the situation they themselves provoked. When they're several cots away from Oliver and his party Vincent turns around and says "You'll regret they day you made an enemy of Vincent Vale and the Vale family."

After he says that Trevor slowly takes an arrow and begins to place it against the string of his bow, then just as slowly he takes aim and begins to draw it, his target is obviously the blustering Vincent.

Vincent quickly turns around and begins to run, all the party can hear him say is "Damn, why are the people from Shadow Vale so crazy."
