The sun has finally settled down and the activities in the Brown Family are at its peak.
Invited guests have started arriving,soft music is playing and there is small chatter here and there.
The decorations for the birthday party can be considered as one of the best.
Mrs Brown moves around the hall greeting guests as they settle in. Some of these guests are her husband's colleagues at work and superiors, others are family friends and people from the estate they lived in. Some of Sylvia's friends are also enjoying the day.
Adira woke up from her nap when the noise from the hall started to raise up.
She checked the phone and noticed that it's six pm already.
She let out a lazy sign and entered the washroom to freshen up.
Across her room is Sylvia's room, she has already dolled up in her stunning mermaid Sea blue dress. Her hair is curled just like Adira's and her makeup is done.
She is just waiting patiently for the right time to appear at the party as the birthday girl.
Her mind went back to what happened in the morning.
Adira was lucky to reject the dress or else she would have embarrassed herself at the party, cause she had someone tampered with the dress.
But it's okay, she can't provide an expensive dress for herself anyway.
Her mother told her that she inquired about her when she called her for the party and found out that she is offering law at Deverare law institute, which is one of the best law schools around.
She nearly broke her nails at the thought of this.
"I will deal with her later but now let's focus on tonight as it's my day. I hope Jordan will finally propose to me....."
She thought with a sharp smile.
Adira looked at the dress that she is about to wear, a simple black dinner dress. It's a loose fit that will make her move comfortably.
She quickly dressed up as she wanted to enter this party before her sister entered .
After putting up the dress , she sprayed hair oil into her hair, enhancing her waves more. She then tied it up to a loose bun with a few strands of hair beside her face. She chose flat footwear and put on a hair accessory making her look complete.
She quickly headed downstairs and entered the party hall through the back gate and blended in.
She scanned around the room and noticed that her father was descending the stairs. Her mother joined him as they officially welcomed the quest with a whole paragraph of speech.
Adira quietly found a seat at the back and settled there.
" Just a few hours and I will be gone for good"
She thought.
A whisper broke her thoughts making her look up. She saw her sister coming down the stairs in her beautiful mermaid dress.
She checked her sister's hairstyle and smirked.
"So , she is still obsessed with my natural hair, too much for the so called eldest Miss in the Brown Family"
She scoffs and returns her attention to her phone.
She then saw a message from Mina.
Mina
Babe, are you still alive or I should arrange for your funeral.
You didn't contact me yesterday so I'm worried. Hope everything is fine there hmm...
(Adira smiled at the message, this friend of hers is so crazy but she always brings smiles to her face, just like now. )
Adira
I'm still hanging on here for now, just pray for me or else I will really die. By the way, have you heard from him, because I'm trying to contact him but to no avail.
Mina
Just hang on for the rest of the night ok, then leave that place first thing tomorrow morning.
And as for him, he came here after you left and we talked about your situation. He suggested an abortion but don't be angry ah, he is just thinking about the stress you will go through since we have some few months to graduate and these months are filled with project work and all sorts of bla.....bla
So we will talk about this when you come back okay....

Okay babe , let's chat later, the birthday girl is about to cut her cake. Bye Mina, I love you.
Across the room, on the high table, Mrs Brown looks around steadily for her second daughter but to no avail. Her seat remains empty, did she mean what she said about retrieving her particulars is the main reason she came.
Sylvia is about to cut the cake and the whole family is needed to stand by her.
Sylvia looked around and saw Adira in the farthest corner in the room. She pointed to the place Adira is sitting, to her mom.
Seeing that, her mother fumed and was about to drag her to the main table only to be stopped by a commotion at the entrance.
The quest around started whispering ,
" Wow, I didn't know that this small family is an acquaintance of the top family, The Derevare family."
One quest whispered.
Mr Brown seeing them quickly matched the entrance to welcome them.
Standing there is the powerful member in the family, Matriarch Odette Derevare, her eldest son, who doubled as the chairman of the Derevare Group of Companies and the eldest grandson, Aarez Derevare.
Aarez watched as the Brown's parents approached them. He scoffs when he sees the fake smile on their face, especially the woman.
" So hypocritical"
He thought but his face remains so unapproachable.
"Greetings to you all, please come inside"
Mr Brown said as soon as he and his wife reached them.
Odette couldn't help but raise her perfectly shaped eyebrows and scan the two from head to toe and give them her meanest smile.
("Two foolish people got married, no wonder they threw the diamond child away for a charcoal child. Huh, why are they still breathing the way, stupid pathetic excuses of human beings"
She thought as she let out a frustrated sigh )
"We are not here for your so-called birthday so save your pathetic greetings,
We are here for your second daughter, Adira Brown".
