"You don't seem like a bad guy. So I think you are fitting. Anyway, before all that, I've got to find a way of getting you off the hook.... The charges thing. By the way, how should I address you?"
"Malon."
"Alright, Malon, you can call me Ethan."
The two men returned to where the car was waiting, Malon was handcuffed again, and the police car took off afterwards.
"Hey Kiddo," Levi called out to Ethan. "Hope to see you again soon." He got into the car and drove off with his daughter.
The rest of the policemen also left the place after securing all the necessary evidence from the basement. Pete and his men also left later, leaving Ethan alone.
What's taking him this long? He wondered before crossing the road to the other side. He disappeared into the alley that Fionn had gotten into earlier.
--------
"Fionn, please. Don't come any closer." Kiara cried, but Fionn didn't consider her cries; he only walked closer.
The boss dragged Kiara along with him until his back hit the wall. Meanwhile, his two subordinates remained on the ground trying to recover from the blows.
"See, now you have nowhere to go." Fionn chuckled.
"Just let her go, and it will be easy for you."
"Shut up." The boss snapped. "Any step closer and I'll blow her brains out. Don't you care that she'll die?"
"Care?" Fionn scoffed.
"Who said I care if she dies or not? And it's better if you shoot her, then it will be easy for me. You won't have her for a shield, you coward."
"Alright then, I'll just blow her brains out." He pulled the trigger.
"Fionn.." Kiara screamed at the top of her voice.
No bullet came out, but the fact that the boss pulled the trigger was enough to send Kiara fainting unconscious.
"Just like I thought." Fionn smiled.
"The gun wasn't loaded, that's why all this time you weren't shooting."
The boss, out of options, dropped Kiara and the gun. He tried to run past Fionn, but he held him by his shirt and pulled him towards himself. He then got hold of his head and slammed it into the wall before punching him twice in the face.
He let go of him, and the man fell to the ground as he groaned in pain. With an unsettled breath, Fionn ran to where Kiara lay. He held her in his arms.
"Princess." He called. "Can you hear me?"
Kiara didn't respond, but her groans were enough to settle Fionn's nerves.
"Thank goodness."He sighed.
He gently placed her down in a sitting position.
"Just a moment." He told her, then turned to the three men.
"You know what I hate?" He said as he pulled the two men to where their boss was lying on the ground.
"I hate it when I get attached to someone. It's worse if it's a woman." He squatted down.
"It's against my principles to save women. But do you know why that woman over there is an exception?"
He paused and turned to look at Kiara passionately, then scoffed.
"How would you even know? I myself don't even know why she's an exception. Maybe it's simply because I'm getting attached to her. Who knows?"
He stood up and then moved back to Kiara, then squatted down.
"I'm supposed to make you fall in love with me, but why is it that it's me who's falling for you then?" He asked the unconscious girl and waited for a reply that he didn't get.
"I guess I have to wait for you to wake up before you can answer." He sat down next to her.
"Do you think I should hit them more? But what I've done is enough. Don't you think so? Just look at them, they are only kids. They look between sixteen and eighteen. Those simple blows were enough to immobilise them. They even carried an empty gun for what? I don't know."
He turned to her. "But anyway, what are you doing here and at this time?"
A phone rung. "Fuck.." He cursed.
"Who is it? Why are you ruining my conversation with Princess?"
He reached out for his phone, but it wasn't the one ringing. The sound was coming from a small handbag from across where they were seated.
Fionn stood up, picked up the bag, and sat back before getting the phone from it. When he retrieved the phone, he scoffed at the caller ID. It was saved as Sam with a flower and green heart emojis.
He looked at the phone screen and then at the girl sitting next to him, "Allow me to take this," he said before answering the call.
"Kiara, where are you? I can't seem to locate you anywhere?" Samuel's voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Who are you?" Fionn asked bluntly.
"Kiara's boyfriend, and who are you?"Samuel replied.
It stung. He was silent for a moment.
"It doesn't matter who I am, just come pick up your girlfriend. I'll send you the location." He disconnected the call and then immediately sent the location.
"Hey, princess, your boyfriend just called. Why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?"
"I don't have a boyfriend," Kiara replied faintly.
"Then who is Sam Flower Green Heart?"
"Sam is just a friend, nothing more."
"But he just claimed to be your boyfriend."
"That son of a bitch," Kiara snapped, pressing her palm against her temple.
"Anyway… Am I already in heaven, but this is not how I envisioned it. Have I gone to hell instead?"
"What do you mean you're in heaven? Wait a minute."
Fionn turned, then froze when his eyes met hers. That was when the two of them realised they'd been talking to each other.
When did she wake up?
They sat frozen for a moment, just staring at each other, then quickly stood, each taking a step back to create space between them.
"What are you doing here?" Kiara asked, her arms crossed as she looked at the guy before her.
"I came here to save you."
"Save me, huh?" She let out a short huff. "You almost got me killed."
"Got you killed, Princess?" Fionn scoffed. "I saved your life… and there's no way he would've killed you with an empty gun."
"How did you know it was empty?" She narrowed her eyes.
Her fingers curled slightly at her side.
"Just my intuition," Fionn replied simply.
"Just intuition?" Kiara took a small step closer, her voice sharp.
"Did you think of what would happen if your intuition were wrong? I could have died."
"Don't worry." Fionn's jaw tightened. "Even if he had killed you, I wouldn't have let you die in vain." He held her gaze. "I'd kill him first thing, and with that, revenge would be served."
"Fuck you." She walked closer and, with a calculated sneak attack, kicked him in the nuts.
"Ouch, that hurt, it really hurt. Why did you do it?" Fionn groaned in pain.
Ethan stood watching and chuckling at the two from not far away. "What a drama." He said, which forced the two to turn his way.
"How long have you been standing there?" Fionn asked, still in pain.
"Long enough to see everything," Ethan replied.
"Anyway, take care of those three." Fionn Instructed as he tried to catch up to Kiara, who ran off in embarrassment.
A while later, as the three emerged from the alley, Samuel ran towards them and quickly threw his hands around Kiara in an embrace.
"Kiara, are you alright?" He gasped for air.
"Sam, I'm alright. And what took you long?" she asked.
"So this is the Samuel guy. Your boyfriend."
"I already told you he's not my boyfriend." Kiara snapped at Fionn. "Come, Sam, let's go out of this place before I go crazy."
Without giving him a chance to say a word, she dragged Samuel towards his car.
Fionn remained smiling as he looked at Kiara while she walked towards the car. "So cute, she's so cute. Can't believe she's even cuter when pissed."
He continued smiling until the car completely disappeared.
"He's someone I know. It's like I've seen him somewhere?" Ethan whispered.
"You mean the guy? Yes, it seems like it's not the first time I'm seeing him, though I don't remember from where."
