Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Worlds Collide

Shane was bewildered!

Bewildered partly by what Anna said before fleeing and the reason for her flight, and partly because of the Shadow Clone.

Yes, Shadow Clone.

Vampires were fast and had compulsion, so Shane played it safe. If Anna really had bad intentions and set a trap, whether it was compulsion or a bite, a Shadow Clone wouldn't be afraid.

Tool-people must be used rationally!

But he didn't expect the Shadow Clone to be so cheeky. Right from the start, it did the thing Shane had been hesitating to do—skipping all the fake, pointless probing and directly exposing Anna's identity.

Shane was definitely going to Mystic Falls, and Anna was definitely going back too. Laying cards on the table saved time. If they got along well, they could totally be friends and help each other out.

He just didn't expect Anna's reaction to be so extreme, nor did he expect the Shadow Clone to give up resistance just to test what it felt like to be attacked.

Uh, actually, that was probably his own thought. Shane did want to test the Shadow Clone's durability through Anna. Okay, so it wasn't the clone acting on its own. His Shadow Clones weren't like Naruto's, arguing with the original body. His clones were standard-issue tools.

"Camille. I feel like I've heard that name..." Shane recalled the American TV shows he had watched, taking out his sunglasses from his jacket pocket and putting them on as he leisurely gave chase.

Anna was fast. After jumping out the window, she dove into an alley across the street and vanished in the blink of an eye.

Byakugan activate. Nowhere to hide.

Using obstacles to escape was meaningless. Under X-ray vision, everything was transparent. Moreover, the Byakugan had telescopic vision. Using chakra to magnify the eye's ability, he could see things within a kilometer radius.

A few minutes later, after zig-zagging east and west, Anna confirmed no one was chasing her. She slowed down, breathed a sigh of relief, and walked into another alley at a normal pace.

As soon as she entered, Anna's relaxed mood instantly tensed up.

Under the moonlight, a man stood in the middle of the alley, blocking her path. He tilted his head, revealing sharp fangs. Anna hurriedly turned around, but behind her stood a woman in a short leather jacket with a emo/scene hairstyle. This woman also bared her fangs, tilted her head, and stared at her with an arrogant look.

"Bitch, you can't run this time."

Is this... the Head Tilt Kill?

If you're good-looking, it's a "Head Tilt Kill" (cute/deadly). If you're ugly, it's called a stiff neck!

Shane, watching this scene with his Byakugan, whispered a roast. He roughly guessed what was happening. Either Anna provoked another group of vampires, or another group of vampires targeted her.

The cause? Most likely the Daylight Ring.

Other vampires obediently came out at night, never having the chance to sunbathe or feel the warmth of the sun. Why should you be special?

Once Anna's identity was discovered, it meant endless trouble. People are selfish, let alone vampires who aren't even people anymore.

No wonder Anna's reaction was so extreme just now. As soon as her identity was exposed, she attacked without a word. And after being tricked by the Shadow Clone, she turned and ran without even asking for clarification.

"Brooklyn... Vampire... Camille..." A lightbulb went off in Shane's head. He remembered.

This Camille was from Shadowhunters. An old-school female vampire, powerful, and the leader of the local vampires in this area.

Simon, the bespectacled childhood friend/friend-zoned guy of the heroine Clary, was turned into a vampire by her. Camille also had countless lovers in the Shadow World—the Seelie Meliorn and the Warlock Magnus Bane both had romantic histories with her.

Besides that, what impressed Shane most about her was that she owned properties almost all over the world, most of them valuable. She had several in Brooklyn alone.

She was a senior he should learn from!

"Hotel Dumort. The vampire lair is the Hotel Dumort! I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier! If I had stayed at the Hotel Dumort when I came to Brooklyn, I would have met vampires ages ago."

Shane felt a bit regretful. One of his goals in coming to Brooklyn was to confirm the existence of 2 Broke Girls and Shadowhunters. He had overlooked such an important clue. Although he met the werewolf Luke, if he had remembered earlier, he could have gone to see the vampires when he had nothing to do a few days ago.

Luckily, his "Emperor of Luck" status activated and he met Anna; otherwise, who knows when he would have encountered them.

With Camille's strength and influence, any foreign vampire feeding on her turf—whether humans were bitten or blood banks robbed—would be detected by her.

Camille definitely knew about the Daylight Ring's function already. Anna probably knew this too. Nine times out of ten, they had clashed or interacted recently. That's why when Shane exposed Anna's identity, Anna assumed he was one of Camille's people without asking.

This situation was very interesting!

Shane had just been worried about the butterfly effect impacting the Williamsburg Diner. Now, in the blink of an eye, Anna from The Vampire Diaries was clashing with Camille from Shadowhunters.

What kind of impact would the intersection of two worlds that should never have met produce? What kind of sparks would fly?

Shane was looking forward to it!
