Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: Cleanup Complete

The simple, unhurried slaughter didn't even slow Rin's steps. While tearing out the hearts of two Maguss, Rin rushed without pause towards another Magus nearby. Her hand-blade, wrapped in highly compressed Magic Power, directly severed his neck with a single strike, blood gushing a meter high like a fountain from the carotid artery.

The further loss of comrades finally awakened the remaining Maguss' reason, and they endured their fear to launch their respective counterattacks.

"Flames, roar for me!"

Flames ignited by Magic Power rushed towards Rin and another Magus she had just killed. The Magus's corpse turned to ash in the flames in less than a second.

Magic that had already transformed into flames indeed would not be analyzed by End Magic, but this level of flame couldn't even burn through the Magic Power fluctuations of Mana Burst covering Rin's body.

The figure enveloped in cerulean Magic Power burst directly out of the flames. The only reply to that Magus was a fist that grew larger and larger in his vision… "Bang!"

Fragments of skull, accompanied by crimson and pale fleshy residue, flew, and the headless corpse fell straight down.

Be it wind, water, ice, rock, curses, illusions, or spiritualism, all were ineffective against Rin, who at this moment was like an ancient Phantasmal Species! Materialized elements would be crushed to dust before the roaring Mana Burst, and non-physical curses and illusions would be directly analyzed by End Magic.

Facing Maguss of this level, Rin was truly: impervious to all magic!

Until the last one, the leader of this group of Maguss, was torn in half by Rin's hands, which pierced through his chest. Breathing in the air mixed with bloody foam and Blood Wind, Rin felt a strange ecstasy. The bloody slaughter triggered an indescribable exhilaration, as if a long-held sense of suppression had completely vanished… "Slap!"

Rin, realizing this abnormality, slapped herself without hesitation to clear her head.

Rin, who had been under long-term suppression due to being unable to find a way to resolve the problems between the aozaki sisters, found release in the process of annihilating these Maguss in an overwhelming manner. This kind of self-release in slaughter is the beastiality hidden within human hearts.

Effortlessly extinguishing other lives, watching the prey's terrified expression tremble in one's grasp, unable to resist, holding the power over the life and death of those before them, wantonly butchering them—the pleasure of this. This feeling, regardless of whether it's cruelty or instinct, is something no intelligent creature can be exempt from.

Everyone has a beastly nature, but if beastly nature covers humanity, then one will truly become a beast named "human." To be intoxicated and addicted to the pleasure of slaughter will turn one into a twisted murderer. I want neither of these!

Rin looked back at the scattered, broken bodies, and the still warm, twitching internal organs, which reminded her of Tohno Shinkyu when he was demonized, slaughtering the Tohno Family servants. If she didn't restrain her own crazed heart, she would eventually become like Tohno Shinkyu.

Recalling Tohno Shinkyu's head, which she had personally smashed at his own funeral, Rin realized that she had indeed almost gone down a path of no return.

She scooped up a handful of snow from the clean ground and pressed it to her face. The sub-zero temperature quickly cooled her overheated brain, and the hot-blooded feeling finally subsided.

Close-quarters, high-speed combat and killing easily excite one's emotions. It seems I need to strengthen my willpower training in the future.

Breathing in the cold air, Rin muttered to herself. She looked back at the horrific scene in the forest, a wry smile on her lips. She knelt down, placed her hands on the ground, and as she performed her spell, the blood-stained ground slowly sank. The earth rolled over, burying all traces of the slaughter, and everything returned to normal.

Perhaps I am also a demon Rin, but unfortunately, unlike the crimson demon in the original work/canon, I am probably a true demon… Standing under the desolate moonlight, letting the biting cold wind make the hem of my trench coat flap loudly, Rin looked up at the bright moon in the sky, as if seeing that face which she had longed for day and night in her previous life, and which now belonged to her.

I'm getting further and further away from her… Rin sighed deeply, and the white cold air drifted and dissipated in the air. Rin picked up her phone and dialed a number she had least wanted to see before today.

"Touko, I have already cleared out the main force of the large team. The number is 45."

"Understood. Just leave the remaining stragglers who have infiltrated Misaki for reconnaissance to me. Thank you, Rin."

"Mm, when are you planning to act?"

"In three days, I suppose. After all, Alice isn't that easy to deal with. She is the Shard of the First Magic, after all."

"Three days? Alright…"

At the same time this phone call was taking place, in the streets and alleys of Misaki City, in places difficult to detect, Maguss hidden in various corners were stirring. Not long ago, an undisguised battle of magic erupted in the forest outside the city, causing a terrifying magical power, like an invisible volcano, to erupt in the forest outside the city, triggering a riot of the Great Source.

Compared to ordinary people who were unaware, only Maguss could understand the ferocity of this battle. This undoubtedly sent out a signal: the struggle for the Fifth Magic, the Mahoutsukai no Yoru, was about to end!

Whether they were wandering Maguss or orthodox Maguss of the Mage's Association, just as they were all pondering how to maximize their interests in this struggle, in the hidden corners, rooms, and various undetectable spots where they were concealed, pairs of cold eyes watched them.

As an orthodox Magus of the Clock Tower sat in meditation in the small house he had chosen, a black cat silently crawled out from a corner behind the wardrobe. Subsequently, a sharp flash of claws lit up in a place the Magus was completely unaware of! The bewildered Magus fell, clutching his throat from which blood gushed like a fountain.

In an empty classroom in the old school building of Misaki Dingli Middle School, Aozaki Touko was standing on a huge magic circle, manipulating a large number of magic puppets with her spirit vision to hunt down Maguss throughout Misaki City. It was already the final stage of the cleanup. These rats, who usually kept a low profile and were left alone, could no longer exist. Since they had stepped into this bloody storm, being killed was only natural.

The cleanup work continued until midnight. Aozaki Touko opened her tightly closed eyes, returned to her magic workbench, and continued to adjust the newly made puppets.

At this time, in Misaki City, the remaining Maguss were only Aozaki Touko, Aozaki Aoko, Rin, and Alice. All other supernatural beings had died in unnoticed corners. By the time their bodies rotted and stank enough to be discovered, they would probably become yet another urban legend.
