Chapter 196 - Chapter 87: Gilgamesh Appears

"Those who disregard this King, who presume to call themselves kings without knowing their own limits, two of them have actually sprung up overnight."

Dreamlike golden dust drifted from the lamp end of a lamppost ten meters off the ground, gathering and dispersing, finally revealing an incomparably dazzling figure.

His appearance was that of a tall, slender young man with golden hair and red eyes. His brilliant golden short hair stood up like burning flames, swaying in the night wind. His vermillion pupils were like the purest red agate set in his eye sockets. Dazzling golden luxurious armor covered every subtle part of his body except for his head.

From the moment he appeared, he became the focus of everyone's attention. It wasn't the golden armor that made him shine, but rather the golden armor that appeared dazzling because it was worn by him. With a distant and aloof gaze, he surveyed the entire scene with an indifferent look that seemed to look down on all living beings.

The protagonist of humanity's oldest epic, "The Epic of Gilgamesh," the oldest King of Heroes: Gilgamesh! He was also Rin's greatest enemy and challenge in the Holy Grail War.

Rider hadn't expected such a formidable presence to appear, even stronger than himself. He scratched his chin, looking puzzled, and said:

"Even if you speak rudely, I, Iskandar, am still the famous King of Conquerors in the world."

"In this world, there is only one hero who can truly be called a King, in heaven and on earth: this King. The rest are just bastards."

This was a completely unbridled and arrogant declaration. Even Saber was now shocked and angered by it, but Rider regarded it with tolerance, a little surprised, and sighed.

"Since you've spoken to this extent, why don't you first state your name? If you are also a King, you wouldn't be afraid of your own prestige, would you?"

As Rider made this jest, Archer's crimson eyes burned with even more arrogant fury, and he said disdainfully:

"To wear the glory of revering this King, yet not know this King's true name, this is already a capital offense, bastard, are you asking me!?"

Gilgamesh's arrogance and pride were truly unparalleled in the universe. Upholding a belief in absolute self-supremacy, such a personality was based on his own formidable strength. Apart from himself, his close friend Enkidu, and those he acknowledged, all living beings in the world were simply divided into two types: bastards and interesting bastards.

Gilgamesh quickly discovered a presence that made him very displeased, or rather, incredibly angry.

Three giant containers were stacked together, a few feet taller than a ten-meter lamppost. Rin stood on top, feeling a slight sense of looking down at Gilgamesh. Her spring-like smile and direct gaze were the perfect provocation for the extremely arrogant Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh's expression was utterly cold, his red eyes narrowed as he squinted at Rin, who stood on high. He said sharply, "Female, who allowed you to stand on the same level as this King?"

In the next instant, golden, liquid-gold-like ripples spread out behind him on both sides, shining with dazzling brilliance as they suddenly appeared in the empty sky.

Sharp, eye-catching swords, and gleaming, shining spears, with ornate patterns that decorated the weapons to be dazzlingly bright, exuded an undeniable magical energy fluctuation. They were clearly not ordinary mundane weapons, but could only be noble phantasms.

Pfft!

Rin was truly amused by Gilgamesh's single sentence. In the five years since she came to Nasuverse, during her days of adventuring, she had heard all sorts of taunts and insults from her opponents, but "female" as a metaphor was truly the first time she had heard it.

Ordinary people, in Gilgamesh's eyes, were either bastards or interesting bastards. But if you angered him, he would give you nicknames, like Red A's fake, Tsuchimikado's (Reference to Shirou Emiya) counterfeit, Illya's doll, or toy. Perhaps Rin's current standing position angered him too much, so he directly called Rin a female.

Ah, whatever. Gilgamesh is just like that; I can't stoop to his level. Besides, do you dare say you're not a male being? I won't tell you that I deliberately stood here just to provoke you!

Facing the gleaming, ready-to-strike noble phantasms, Rin's smile remained unchanged, still calm and composed as she looked at Gilgamesh. Fear, that emotion, had long been excised from the depths of Rin's soul.

This calm and composed, provocative smile, on the contrary, piqued Gilgamesh's interest a little.

"This King shall see how long you can maintain that lowly smile."

Two noble phantasm-level swords and spears shot through the air towards Rin's position. The distance between them was less than fifty meters, and at the speed of the Gate of Babylon's projectiles, it was but an instant. Yet Rin remained motionless, as if waiting to die, watching the noble phantasm blades flying towards her, maintaining her calm and composed smile.

Rin had her own confidence and assurance, and because of Gilgamesh's previous remarks, a certain person who had been silent all along, became enraged... "Boom!"

The magical energy explosion of the noble phantasm created smoke that obscured the line of sight. Waverly looked at King of Conquerors beside him in a panic and asked:

"What happened? What happened? Was that female Servant killed?"

King of Conquerors, standing on his chariot, did not answer his little Master's question. Instead, his stern and rough face was full of seriousness and confusion, and then he said with interest:

"Now this is getting interesting."

Waverly, of course, didn't understand his Servant's sudden, nonsensical words. He shifted his gaze towards the Saber group, where Saber was also looking in that direction with immense surprise. Finally, Waverly looked back at the place where the smoke had dispersed, and was instantly shocked beyond measure!

The tall, broad-shouldered figure of that man appeared in front of Rin. His entire body was covered in pitch-Black Knight armor, without delicate decorations, without polished colors. Even the wide knight's cloak behind him, symbolizing glory, had no colored ornaments, it was completely pitch black. Like darkness, a profound, hell-like extreme black, even his face was tightly covered by the helmet, leaving only a V-shaped slit at the eye positions of the helmet, through which one could see the terrifying gaze emanating from his fiercely burning eyes, like raging fire.

"Th-th-that's a Servant! Why would a Servant block an attack for another Servant!"

Waverly felt his brain's thought process was completely insufficient; what kind of situation was this!

The noble phantasm longsword thrown by the golden Servant was held in the hand of the pitch-black Black Knight, and the long spear was deflected far away. He had clearly blocked the attack for Rin.

"So that's how it is. No wonder she didn't mind letting me guess her identity. She had drawn everyone into the biggest misconception from the very beginning. It's truly something one wouldn't think of even if they racked their brains."

Rider let out a long sigh of exclamation, which left Waverly bewildered. Saber, who also seemed to have understood the truth of the matter, exclaimed in disbelief:

"Rin, you're not a Servant?!"

Rin walked out from behind Lancelot, smiling confidently and self-assuredly, "When did I ever say I was my Servant?" She then reached out and removed the fingerless glove from her left hand, which she always wore to conceal the command spells on the back of her hand. The command spells, with two strokes remaining, were exposed to everyone.

"Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Rin. My family name has currently been stripped from me. I imagine everyone who knows about the Holy Grail War knows what my former surname was. As the Master of Berserker in this Holy Grail War, everyone, please take care of me."
