"And the method of salvation is quite peculiar. You measure human lives purely by quantity, placing relatives and strangers on an equal footing. To ensure the survival of the majority, you unhesitatingly discard the minority, regardless of status or age, with each life being a single unit. Even if you love someone, you still consider their life equivalent to others, cherishing them equally, and discarding them equally. Do you really believe humanity will be saved this way?"
"Of course! I have never doubted its meaning. It's impossible to save everyone, and the birth of humanity itself is equal. Born with nothing, dying with nothing, therefore the value of every life is equal. No external factor can increase the weight of a life. After carefully weighing the values, choose the side the scale tips towards!"
Kiritsugu Emiya broke his usual calm and seriousness, responding to Tohsaka Rin with earnest conviction, almost fanatically:
"And the other side should be left empty, hence the killing. Kill, kill, keep killing, because this is correct! To save the majority, some must sacrifice. If the number of people protected and happy outweighs the number of unhappy ones, then the world is closer to being saved. Even if it means stepping on countless corpses, if lives are saved because of it, then the most important thing is these protected lives 040!"
Tohsaka Rin watched Kiritsugu Emiya silently. At this moment, the light of conviction he displayed was no less than that of a Heroic Spirit.
He desires world peace but is a ruthless realist in practice. Despite loving everyone, he is also resolute in killing anyone, steadfastly pursuing his beliefs without hesitation or doubt, yet unable to completely abandon his emotions... He is truly a collection of contradictions.
This is probably the purest hero, so pure that he is not human... Even if Tohsaka Rin were to kill Kiritsugu Emiya now, he would merely fall on the path of pursuing his ideals, nothing would change. Tohsaka Rin doesn't dislike Kiritsugu Emiya, but she cannot agree with him. If possible, Tohsaka Rin also hopes to save him from the tragedy of his remaining life.
However, some things must be done.
Tohsaka Rin pulled a parchment scroll from her inner coat pocket and tossed it to Kiritsugu Emiya. Kiritsugu Emiya caught it, glanced at Tohsaka Rin, then opened it, saying with immense surprise:
"Self-Imposed Compulsion Document?" Content: For Tohsaka Rin, the eldest daughter of Tohsaka Tokiomi, the fifth head of the Tohsaka Family, with Kiritsugu Emiya as the subject, prohibits any intent or action to kill or harm her within this day. In exchange, Kiritsugu Emiya, his wife Irisviel von Einzbern, his subordinate Maiya Hisau, his Servant Artoria Pendragon, and his adopted family, the Einzbern, are hereby forever prohibited from any killing, harming, or any malicious actions towards her father Tohsaka Tokiomi, her mother Tohsaka Aoi, and her sister Tohsaka Sakura... "... By the will of alaya!"
Kiritsugu Emiya looked incredulously at Tohsaka Rin, who stood with her arms crossed not far away, her face expressionless, calmly observing Kiritsugu Emiya.
"I told you I understand you very well. Any means that achieves results is perfectly normal. If it were you, kidnapping and threats would be completely routine. You might even kidnap my mother to threaten me. Although I don't dislike you, I cannot let you act recklessly. After all, my family is more important than the world to me."
Surging magical energy swirled, and the projected noble phantasm forming a prison around Kiritsugu Emiya began to emit a dazzling light, nearing an explosion point, reflecting on Kiritsugu Emiya's face.
"You now have only two choices: either sign the contract, and we all benefit, or, I'm sorry, for the sake of a family reunion after the Holy Grail War, I'll have to ask you to die here. Even if you summon Saber, it's useless; I can summon Berserker. And don't even think about finding loopholes in this contract. Even if you convey the idea or information of wanting to harm my family to others, it still counts as a violation of the contract. The Self-Imposed Compulsion Document I created has the highest level of binding power."
This was an absolute draconian treaty. It was 11:40 PM. If Kiritsugu Emiya signed the treaty, as long as Tohsaka Rin didn't kill him within twenty minutes, then Kiritsugu Emiya and everyone associated with him could no longer commit any malicious acts against Tohsaka Rin's family, even by asking unrelated individuals to do so. Once midnight passed, Tohsaka Rin could kill him without any problem. Even after death, as long as alaya could still perceive Kiritsugu Emiya's existence, his soul would remain bound by the contract.
But not signing had only one outcome: immediate death!
Kiritsugu Emiya gripped the parchment contract tightly with ten fingers, his eyes wide with fury, his finger joints cracking from the excessive force. His overly agitated voice squeezed through his clenched teeth.
"Are you... asking me to give up the Holy Grail?!..."
If Tohsaka Rin said yes, Kiritsugu Emiya would likely choose to die, just as Irisviel had said before; a Kiritsugu Emiya who couldn't save the world had no reason to live, at least not before seeing the true nature of the Holy Grail.
"No, I can repeat it again: I have no interest in the Holy Grail whatsoever. There is no wish I need the Holy Grail to grant me, so it's fine to give it to you. My Berserker will not survive until the end, because that is his wish. I won't tell you the specific details."
"Kiritsugu Emiya, I hope you understand that I don't want to kill you because I don't dislike you, a hero who has always striven for humanity from the past until now. After all, even if you personally killed one hundred thousand people, at least one hundred thousand and one people were saved because of you. Without you, perhaps two hundred thousand and one people would have died. While I cannot agree with you, I also don't want to deny everything you've done. Moreover, the current situation cannot get any worse for you, can it?"
That's right, it couldn't get any worse.
Kiritsugu Emiya took a deep breath of cold air to cool his overheated brain, then finally faced the open contract and read:
"Kiritsugu Emiya, agrees."
At the signature line in the bottom right corner, the handwriting of Kiritsugu Emiya and Tohsaka Rin was visible. The originally dim "Kiritsugu Emiya" lit up with a bright red glow upon his agreement, and then the entire Self-Imposed Compulsion Document contract burned to ashes in a ghostly blue flame, thus completing the contract.
