Lina could have ordered the carriage to drive straight to the manor's main entrance, but seeing how grand the welcome had been, she felt it would be rude to remain inside until the carriage reached the door. The people waiting outside seemed nervous enough already, and she had no desire to make them even more uncomfortable by acting aloof.
She therefore ordered the carriage to stop at the gate.
The moment she opened the door and looked down at the muddy ground, however, she regretted her decision. Lina stared at the puddles for a moment, gritted her teeth, and finally gathered her skirt before stepping out.
