Chapter 63 - The Guardian of Darkness :

Fangxi's words—"Zayan, I kknowwho you are!" Hit Zavian like a sudden explosion.

for a brief moment his entire body went rigid time seemed to freeze around him then slowly.

he lifted his gaze and looked at Fangxi--his eyes deep dark.. and completely unreadable.

the terrace had fallen so silent that only the sound of the wind could be heard.

Zavian composed himself and asked in a low, cold voice,

"And how do you know that?"

Fangxi paused for a moment, then took a deep breath and said,

"You were the one who saved Sheyaan… am I right?"

Zavian didn't fully understand what Fangxi was getting at, but he was trying his best to measure the depth.

of his thoughts. Cutting him off in a cold tone, he said,

"Say clearly what you...want to say! I hate people...who beat around the bush."

The demon inside Zavian had awakened. He never wanted his secret to be revealed to anyone.

His rule was simple and terrifying: if a demon reveals his own secret, that's fine—but if someone finds out

without being told… he eliminates them without hesitation.

Seeing Zavian's harsh tone, Fangxi steadied himself and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Alright… I'll tell you everything.. clearly."

Fangxi fixed a deep gaze on Zavian and revealed the secret.

"I've known you since the time Sheyaan went into a coma after her accident… and you were the one who brought her to the hospital!"

Hearing this, Zavian let out a slow, quiet breath. A faint, mysterious smile appeared on his face as he said in a calm, cold voice,

"Oh… so you've known..all this time."

Looking straight into Fangxi's eyes, Zavian asked,

"But it's been... six years since then. Why are you.. telling me now? Or is there some other...reason behind this?"

There was both a hidden threat and curiosity in Zavian's words. Without saying anything, Fangxi turned around and

looked out at the city from the terrace. The atmosphere had grown tense. In a low yet serious tone, he said,

"You're right… there is another reason."

Zavian quietly walked over and stood right beside him, slipping his hands into his pockets as he looked ahead.

Continuing his words, Fangxi said something that even left Zavian surprised:

"I need your... help."

Fangxi slowly looked away from the city his expression growing serious turning back.

He meet Zavian's silent unreadable gaze for a moment neither of them spoke then.

In a low voice--almost a whisper he asked again.

"Will you.. help me?"

Zavian paused for a moment, then looked at Fangxi carefully and asked,

"What kind of...help do you need?"

Fangxi began explaining in detail,

"I know... that Sheyaan was attacked a.. day ago… someone tried to shoot her. But Sheyaan... hid this from me."

Hearing this, Zavian responded in a very calm yet flat tone,

"So you already...knew about that..attack."

Fangxi nodded.

"Yes. After my father...passed away and I...became the CEO of ZXMG Company, Manglon Uncle couldn't accept it. Around that time, I accidentally...overheard him. He said he...would do anything to take over...ZXMG Company and...Sheyaan's property… even if it meant killing...both of us."

The moment Zavian heard about the plan to kill Sheyaan, he went completely still.

His face hardened with anger, as if the demon inside him was demanding revenge for this audacity.

Fangxi continued, With deep concern, he said,

"I want you... to never leave Sheyaan..alone, not even for a.. moment. My dad always... told me never to leave her...alone in the dark… and never to talk...about her parents' accident in front of her."

There was fear in Fangxi's voice as he explained the reason,

"Because she can have a mental attack at any time—a seizure or trauma episode.

And if it... happens once, she might have to suffer through it... every day. It's not something small… it could even put her life in.. danger."

Zavian listened to every word carefully. He leaned against the terrace wall, looking out at the city lights, and said in a calm, flat tone,

"So… Sheyaan is surrounded by danger..from all sides. In a way, she's...trapped in a fragile web—one wrong touch, and... everything could collapse at any... moment."

There was a strange calmness in Zavian's eyes, but inside his mind, a new and stronger plan to protect Sheyaan was already taking shape.

Zavian took a deep breath and said in a calm yet confident tone,

"At this rate, you don't...even need outsiders when there are already..such dangerous enemies inside your... own house.

But.. don't worry…" A faint confident smirk appeared on his lips.

I'm her shadow." No matter what...happens, I'll always..protect her." " I won't let her.. bow before anyone!"

His voice turned firm almost dangerous.

"You just...watch."

Hearing his determined words, a faint smile appeared on Fangxi's face.

With enthusiasm, he extended his hand toward Zavian and said,

"Alright then… let's make a deal! Your heart's...desire will definitely come true, but you'll... also have to keep your.. word to me."

Zavian observed Fangxi carefully for a moment, as if judging his intentions.

Then, with a slight smile, he shook his hand. In his usual cold yet low voice, Zavian said,

"Your deal is simple… but I...like it. I'll remember it."

Both Fangxi and Zavian smiled at each other, but this wasn't an ordinary smile of friendship.

Zavian was a demon—and his deals were never easy; his promises often left people hanging on the edge of destruction.

Fangxi then said quietly,

"Alright… none of this should reach... Sheyaan."

Reassuring Fangxi, Zavian said in a flat tone,

"Don't worry. She won't find out.. at all."

The two of them stood on the terrace, talking like old friends. Fangxi finally felt relieved, as if all his tension had faded away.

But neither of them realized that darkness doesn't just hide secrets—sometimes, it exposes them too.

Suddenly, a soft yet stiff voice echoed from the corner of the terrace,

"What won't be... found out?"

The voice struck like lightning across the terrace. Fangxi and Zavian instantly let go of each other's hands and.

turned toward the sound. The sight in front of them left both of them stunned.

Sheyaan was standing near the stairs of the terrace, dressed in a white night suit.

She stood completely still, her face expressionless—cold and unreadable.

Slowly, she stepped closer to them and stopped right in front of them before saying,

"What are you... hiding, Fangxi?"

She stared at both of them intensely, as if trying to read every hidden secret buried in their hearts.

Sheyaan's question left both of them stunned. Fangxi quickly composed himself and, with a slight smile, said,

"It's nothing, Sheyaan! We were just...discussing how to surprise you… your birthday is...coming up, right?"

Sheyaan looked at Zavian suspiciously. Without hesitation, Zavian nodded in a flat tone,

"Yeah, that's what we... were planning."

Fangxi quickly checked his phone and said with a smile,

"Alright, let's head..downstairs—it's already 9:00! Come on... Sheyaan!"

With that, he walked ahead. But both Fangxi and Zavian knew that Sheyaan wasn't convinced yet.

Still staring at Zavian, Sheyaan finally started walking downstairs.

Zavian followed silently behind her, while Fangxi had already gone ahead.

As soon as they reached the hall, Zavian noticed her silence and the sadness on her face.

Suddenly, he grabbed Sheyaan's hand and pulled her gently against a wall.

His sudden move startled her, almost taking her breath away. Zavian stepped closer, placing both his hands against the wall

on either side of her, and looked straight into her eyes as he asked in a low voice,

"Why are you...sulking?"

Sheyaan couldn't say a word, as if her voice had disappeared. Zavian repeated the same question again...

Looking straight into Sheyaan's eyes, Zavian asked firmly,

"Are you going to tell me or not?"

Sheyaan hesitated softly and stammered,

"I… I couldn't sleep alone… and Aunty isn't here to.. put me to sleep properly… so…"

Hearing her innocent words, Zavian's stern expression softened. He gently asked,

"And.. why did you... go to the terrace?"

Sheyaan lowered her gaze and replied softly,

"I just..went to get..some fresh air… but then..I found you both.. there."

A faint smile appeared on Zavian's face as he said,

"Alright then, let's go to..sleep."

Before Sheyaan could even react Zavian stepped back and Gently picked her in his arms.

The sudden action caugh her completely off guard her body stiffened--shoke clearly written all over her face.

She was completely shocked. In the very next moment, before she could even react, Zavian disappeared—

and within a second, he was already standing beside her bed in her room.

Sheyaan froze in place. Before she could say anything, Zavian gently laid her down on the bed, covering her with a blanket as he said,

"I'm right here… now go to sleep.. peacefully."

Hearing this, Sheyaan held his hand and made him sit beside her. Resting her head on his lap, she said in a sleepy voice,

"Stay with.. me."

Zavian paused for a moment, then quietly said,

"Hmm… I'm here."

He gently placed his hand on her head and started caressing it. Slowly, Sheyaan closed her eyes.

After some time, when Sheyaan had fallen into a deep sleep, Zavian sank into thought and murmured to himself,

"Tonight… I have to read that...message. What could be written... in it?"
