Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Mo Beichuan

Mo Beichuan woke up with his heart pounding.

Darkness still lingered in the room, faint dawn light filtering through the curtains.

His chest felt tight.

Again.

The same dream.

A woman.

Dying.

Blood.

His hand reaching—

But he never saw her face.

He sat up slowly, pressing his fingers against his temple.

Why does it hurt… every time?

It had been happening for almost a year now.

The same ending.

The same suffocating grief.

And yet, when he tries to remember clearly—

There was nothing.

No face.

No name.

Just a feeling of loss.

He exhaled slowly and swung his legs off the bed.

Ridiculous.

He didn't even know who she was.

After a quick shower, he changed into gym clothes and headed downstairs.

The steady rhythm of weights hitting the rack grounded him. The burn in his muscles was real. Tangible.

Unlike that dream.

By the time he returned upstairs, Su Huilan was already seated at the dining table.

"You're late today" she commented lightly, sipping her tea.

"Didn't kept of time" he replied simply.

She studied him for a moment before sighing.

"You're not getting any younger, Beichuan."

Here we go again. He sighed

"When are you planning to get married?"

He picked up his coffee calmly. "I'm busy."

"You're always busy," she clicked her tongue. "You need someone to take care of you. I've seen a few good candidates—"

"I'll handle my own life."

Her expression softened slightly. "I just don't want you to be alone forever."

Alone.

The word lingered strangely.

For a split second—

A flash.

That same feeling of something slipping away.

His fingers tightened slightly around the cup.

Then it was gone.

"I'm leaving," he said, standing up.

Inside the car, the city blurred past the tinted windows.

He closed his eyes briefly.

That woman again.

His jaw tightened.

He didn't even know her name.

It was absurd.

He opened his eyes.

Focus.

At the office, the atmosphere shifted instantly.

"Good morning President Mo," his secretary greeted as she followed him inside.

"The documents for the Q3 investment review are ready. Also, the development team wants confirmation on the RPG launch timeline."

He paused slightly.

"The new game?"

"Yes"

His expression remained calm.

"Schedule a meeting this afternoon"

"Yes, President Mo"

As the office door closed behind him, he walked toward the large window overlooking the city.

Ambition. Expansion. Growth.

Everything was moving forward. And yet—

For a brief second—

A hollow feeling lingered in his chest.

Like something important had already happened.

And he just couldn't remember it.
