On the carriage, Macht had already considered that the moment he entered Gaderia, it would certainly cause panic.
However, Macht was not worried. Although he was of the Demon Race, Glück had already given him credentials as an envoy.
Moreover, Macht possessed absolute confidence. This stemmed from his absolute trust in his own magic as a Great Demon over five hundred years old.
He could be certain that, looking across all of Gaderia, no one could contend with him. Under his Universal Golden Transmutation Magic, no matter how powerfully trained those humans were, they would only turn into useless lumps of gold.
However, the moment he stepped into Gaderia, Macht froze.
Hanging on the city gate of Gaderia was a massive banner that read: Warm Welcome to the Envoy of Weise.
At the end of the banner, a large heart symbol was drawn.
What surprised Macht the most was that those standing on the city walls were not humans, but expressionless Demons!
What was the situation? Had Gaderia been occupied by the Demon Race during the time he was traveling here?
Just then, a human soldier squeezed out from between several Demons.
"Excuse me, are you Lord Macht, the envoy from Weise?" the voice called out from above.
"I am."
Macht nodded subconsciously to acknowledge him. At the same time, he held up the credentials Glück had given him.
It was merely a simple sheet of official paper, though it was stamped with the crest of Weise.
After answering, Macht was stunned again. How did they know about him?
Glück's letter had not revealed a single detail related to him, intending to give Gaderia a small surprise and shock.
On the city wall, the human soldier directed the Demon soldiers. Amidst the creaking vibration of the iron gates, they opened the door for Macht.
"I wish you a fun time."
The young man on the wall shouted to Macht as he walked into Gaderia.
Macht was completely bewildered by this turn of events. He couldn't shake the feeling that the style of Gaderia was a bit off.
After Macht left, the young man suddenly discovered that although the Demon soldiers on the wall remained expressionless, their bodies were trembling involuntarily, as if they were instinctively afraid.
"Eh? What's wrong with you guys?"
"It's... a Great... Great Demon..." one Demon soldier stammered.
Walking into Gaderia, Macht began to suspect he had fallen under an illusion magic.
Beside the streets, several Demons wearing work uniforms and humans holding blueprints were repairing houses together.
In the farmland, a large group of Demons and human farmers were mingled together, tilling the land.
And when he arrived at the center of the square, he saw a bronze statue.
The statue was of a Demon girl with a broken horn. Her pose depicted her reaching out a hand, pointing towards the sky above the Gaderia Lord's Manor. Several bouquets of fresh flowers were placed at the base of the statue.
The subjects who saw Macht would greet him kindly, completely lacking the fear, resistance, or hostility Macht had imagined. On the contrary, Gaderia seemed to welcome the Demon Race very much.
Macht recognized clearly that this was reality.
Macht understood not only humans but also the habits of the Demon Race. Behind these Demons, there must be some powerful existence commanding them.
"Humans and Demons coexisting harmoniously..."
Macht fell into thought and skepticism as he looked at this scene which should have been absolutely impossible. He suddenly developed a strong interest in the current state of this land called Gaderia.
In an instant, Macht felt that he had lived his five hundred-plus years in vain.
The coexistence he pursued had already been realized here.
While he was lost in thought, a rubber ball rolled to Macht's feet.
"Big Brother Demon, can you kick that ball over here?"
Not far away, a little boy waved at Macht.
Looking at his feet, Macht recalled that he had seen this object when Denken and Lektire were young; it was one of the toys for human cubs.
Macht did not speak. He gently kicked the ball back.
The boy caught the ball, smiled, said thanks, and then ran off kicking the ball again.
Raising his head to gaze at that statue, Macht felt it looked somewhat familiar. Suddenly, he spoke loudly to the surroundings.
"Come out. How long do you intend to hide?"
Passersby were somewhat confused. They glanced at Macht, who was talking to himself, and then left.
However, from a nearby alley, a figure walked out, accompanied by a vast and somewhat familiar mana.
Aura bared her teeth at Macht like a puppy guarding its food.
"Leave! This is my territory."
Macht understood. He hadn't expected to see an acquaintance here.
"So that's it. It is you who is restraining those Demons, Aura."
Aura was actually quite afraid of Macht. Just taking Macht's unreasonable Universal Golden Transmutation Magic into account, Aura felt she had absolutely no chance of winning in a direct confrontation.
Not to mention that she could now clearly sense that Macht's mana was stronger than hers.
Even though they were both Seven Sages of Destruction back then, Aura didn't have much interaction with Macht in the past.
Aura was a hawk—a proponent of war—while Macht was a rare moderate.
However, when truly face-to-face, Aura felt the gap between herself and the strongest of the Seven Sages of Destruction.
Since being captured by Nanoda, Aura had never stopped training her mana.
But upon encountering Macht, Aura admitted she was a bit cowardly.
I hate you!
She cursed Nanoda secretly in her heart. If it weren't for Nanoda's arrangement, she wouldn't have had to come and receive Macht. Keeping the imposing manner and arrogance of a Great Demon on her face, Aura felt she couldn't lose her bearing in her own territory.
"Follow me. I will take you to see the Lord."
Hearing this, Macht nodded and followed.
"I thought you had died on the battlefield; I didn't expect you to still be alive. This city isn't bad. It truly exceeded my expectations. Aura, you are really amazing."
Macht rarely genuinely acknowledged the actions of others. Today's Gaderia had indeed brought him a trace of shock.
"Hmph. Although I can't rule out my own contribution, the one who facilitated this situation is actually not me, but someone else."
Hearing Macht's praise, Aura felt inexplicably happy. Judging from human sensibilities, Aura was feeling a sense of achievement and pride.
Having lived with Nanoda for so long, Aura had also subtly undergone some changes.
Seemingly sensing this, Macht suddenly spoke to Aura.
"I have to admit, you have walked further than I have in understanding humans."
"Hah?!"
Hearing this, Aura turned her head to look at Macht, who was expressionless yet completely serious.
"Rest assured, I have no malice. Or perhaps I should say, I still do not understand what malice is. My main purpose for coming this time... to use human terms, is to make friends with the existence that turned this city into its current state." From beginning to end, Macht maintained his calm and gentleness.
While speaking, Aura led Macht all the way into the Lord's Manor.
