Chapter 33 - Final Clash pt1

The gray light of dawn began to bleed over the jagged mountain peaks, casting long, cold shadows across the valley floor. The meditative silence of the camp was broken by the sharp, metallic snap of mages checking their equipment and closing their travel packs. There were no bugles or loud commands—only the grim, disciplined movement of one hundred and twenty-eight mages who had survived the night.

"Form up," Brother Li Shen's voice was low but carried a weight that cut through the morning mist.

The formation shifted. The remaining forty-two High-level mages took the lead and the flanks, their auras already humming with restored mana. The eighty-six Mid-level mages followed in the center, their faces hardened by the losses of the previous day. I walked near the front of the vanguard, my boots crunching on the frost-covered earth that had been soaked in demon blood just hours before.

"Eyes West," Li Zhu commanded, his Mind magic already reaching out like invisible sonar to scan the path ahead.

The trek was silent. To the west, the horizon was a bruised purple, where the Monarch was busy carving out its new kingdom. Every mile we marched, the atmospheric pressure seemed to increase—a psychic weight that signaled we were entering the territory of a true king, one far more dangerous than the subordinates we had just slaughtered.

After six hours of walking, we finally arrived at the place where the Tundra Bone-Crusher Wolf currently was. Looking at the massive size of the wolf from afar, almost all the mid-level mages felt a chill run down their spines. That wolf... its size was almost like a small mountain, standing around 100 meters in height, its entire body encased in a jagged, bone-like armor that gleamed with a cold, deathly light.

Then there was the Abyssal Steel-Back Gorilla. While not as towering as the wolf, it was still a 50-meter-tall beast, covered in dense, metallic fur that suggested near-impenetrable defensive capabilities.

As we were looking at them, the wolf suddenly turned its massive head. Its gaze locked onto us. At that moment, almost every mage felt their muscles tense instinctively, their bodies snapping into a combat-ready stance as the pressure of the beast crashed over the formation.

"Execute Formation Omega!" Brother Li Shen's voice boomed, no longer heavy with grief but sharp with the authority of a Super-level mage.

The eighty-six Mid-level mages immediately pivoted. Their task was the most grueling: they formed a wide, defensive perimeter to restrain the endless tide of Warrior and Servant-level beasts that began pouring out from the shadows of the two giants. Walls of fire and ice erupted in a continuous ring, creating a killing zone to ensure the elites wouldn't be swarmed from behind.

Meanwhile, the forty-two High-level mages divided their focus. A specialized strike team moved to intercept the Commander-level guardians—the elite pack leaders that served as the Monarch's personal guard.

Intercepting the Steel-Back

As the Abyssal Steel-Back Gorilla let out a deafening metallic roar and prepared to charge, three High-level masters moved to meet it. Li Han, Li Zhu, and Lin Yao stepped forward, their combined auras clashing against the beast's oppressive weight. Li Han's earth-shattering foundations met the gorilla's heavy footfalls, while Li Zhu's mental interference and Lin Yao's blinding light kept the 50-meter beast disoriented.

Floating nearby, Zhao Feng, Mu Bing, and Xiao Yan hovered in a flexible support wing. Their job was to act as the "Shield and Scalpel," ready to blink into a gap with Space magic or unleash Poison and Lightning wherever the line began to buckle.

The Descent of the Kings

Then, the air truly shattered. The three core leaders of the expedition stepped toward the Tundra Bone-Crusher Wolf, their magical signatures igniting like three miniature suns.

Li Shen moved first, his Super-level Ice magic manifesting as a Heavenly Seed. The ground didn't just freeze; it transformed into an absolute-zero domain that rivaled the Wolf's own frost. Behind his icy veil, his Space and Shadow elements flickered at the High-level peak, allowing him to phase in and out of the Wolf's reach.

Beside him, Li Wei erupted in a dual-elemental inferno. With Super-level Fire and Lightning, both powered by Heavenly Seeds, he became a pillar of destructive energy. Crimson flames and violet lightning coiled around him, ready to melt through the Wolf's 100-meter bone armor.

Li Jun completed the trio, his Super-level Wind (Heavenly Seed) creating a localized hurricane that stabilized the battlefield. His mastery of Space and Chaos magic began to warp the dimensions around the Wolf's head, making it impossible for the beast to accurately aim its devastating frost breath.

The Tundra Bone-Crusher Wolf let out a sound that wasn't a howl, but a challenge. It lowered its massive head, its bone-clad chest glowing with a malevolent blue light, as it prepared to face the three Super-level mages.

I gripped my focus tool, my eyes alternating between the Mid-level struggle and the titanic clash beginning some distance away from us.

The battlefield split into three distinct layers of carnage. The sheer scale of the power being unleashed turned the valley into a kaleidoscopic nightmare of elemental fury.

The Inner Circle: The Clash of Kings

At the center of the storm, the Tundra Bone-crusher Wolf lunged. Its 100-meter frame moved with a terrifying, mountain-shaking speed that defied its size. But it was met by a force equally absolute.

Li Shen took the lead, his Super-level Ice Magic erupting in a domain of Heavenly Seed frost. "Absolute Zero: Glacial Prison!" he roared. The ground didn't just freeze; it crystallized into massive jagged spires that rose to meet the wolf's bone-clad limbs, momentarily anchoring the beast. Sensing a counter-attack, he flickered through the Space and Shadow elements at a High-level peak, his silhouette dancing between the wolf's massive claws like a ghost.

"Burn it to the marrow!" Li Wei shouted. His dual Super-level Fire and Lightning—both empowered by Heavenly Seeds—ignited the sky. A dual-colored pillar of crimson flame and violet lightning slammed into the wolf's shoulder, the heat so intense it began to char the indestructible bone armor.

To keep the beast from retreating, Li Jun unleashed his Super-level Wind. A massive hurricane stabilized the area, while his High-level Chaos magic warped the air around the wolf's head. When the beast tried to snap its jaws at Li Wei, the space bent, causing the wolf to bite down on nothing but thin air.

....

3000 meters away, the Abyssal Steel-Back Gorilla was met by the specialized strike team. Li Han slammed his palms into the earth, raising mountain-sized pillars of stone to box the gorilla in. Li Zhu hammered the beast's primitive mind with psychic waves to disrupt its focus, while Lin Yao bombarded its metallic fur with blinding spears of Light magic.

Zhao Feng, Mu Bing, and Xiao Yan hovered on the periphery, their eyes scanning for any opening. Whenever the Gorilla's metallic fists threatened to shatter Li Han's stone walls, Zhao Feng would use Space magic to shift the momentum of the blow, while Xiao Yan's Lightning and Mu Bing's Poison kept the beast's regenerative skin from closing its wounds.
