Chapter 4 - A4

Cathalina and her team sat quietly in the van.

Everyone seemed a bit tense, not because of the mission but because they were all short of an important detail and were unsure why it even happened in the first place.

'Was this a set-up or a test of some kind?' they all pondered silently.

Apparently, there was already security set in place but it seemed like the man in question required the aid of personal and close hands.

To her this meant 2 things;

The family had the team at their disposable -but, the upfront payment also meant, they had a month of precise evaluation. A month to determine their stay -or leave. The family were also somewhat desperate and needed trusted hands, so therefore putting the team to silent tests to see how the team perform, communicate and gain their trust.

The night before, Cathalina went through the files and did a little personal digging so she and the team could be a little far ahead than the family would expect.

Marlon Fionn, the father, married to Enid Fionn, the mother for years with 2 children, Yehezkel Fionn, the first son and likely heir to the company and a billion-dollar fortune, Athena Fionn, likely heiress to certain estates, company shares and properties.

But the one thing that got her puzzled was, 'What exactly caused the situation around him?'. No official reports or statements had been made on it, only rumors and those rumors didn't particularly state exclusive conclusions, only guesses.

'Should I question this? Will I even get answers?'

She couldn't tell but she could try and maybe, use her authority as 'Security/Protector' as leeway.

As the van moved, a large and corporate building drew visible at a distance. The building seemed familiar, 'Where had she seen it?'

The van made a sharp turn and drove into a passageway, Cathalina leaned towards the driver's seat,

"Excuse me, what's going on?"

"We can't take the front so we take the underground garage but we can't guarantee anything"

'Ah' she realized, this was his office building. Cathalina nodded and turned to her team,

"Everyone"

Their attention turned to her quickly.

"Ready yourselves" She paused, "Set your walkie talkies, ear plugs and remember your stations, is that clear?"

"Clear" they echoed.

Taking out her walkie talkie, she contacted Nick's line,

"Von Hart, this is Perez -do you copy? Over"

"This is Von Hart in the second vehicle, Any problems on your end? -Over"

"We're currently in the underground garage of Mr. Fionn's office building, make sure to be alert, eyes on his car at all times and don't forget" she paused, "Do Not Be Hasty, no mistakes -Over"

The vans came to a stop.

From the window, she witnessed a hesitation. The chauffeurs hadn't come down immediately to open the doors like they did before.

She checked her watch, unsure and suddenly, the doors to the van flung open and immediately, her body flung out, responding quickly.

'Hmm, a 10 second or thereabout pause?' she thought as she headed toward Yehezkel.

'Was this basic protocol, a timing and perception test or just an action provoked by the man in question?'

Striding into the office building, Cathalina noticed a difference in his expressions. With every staff who greeted with a smile, he nodded or waved lightly with a smile as well.

'Was this an act or was he genuinely relieved to be in their midst?' she couldn't yet conclude.

She wasn't the type to judge that the rich were completely arrogant and nothing more. At a young age, she remembered one of the many words from before the tragic death of her late father,

"Dad crédito a las obras y no a las palabras"

A man's words were one thing, but his actions meant greater. This was a constant whispering from her father as he held up his trophy belt from a victorious boxing fight. It was common for boxers to brag over their talents before the game but her father knew better and taught her better -Now, she had grown to be better.

She wanted to know more about this man, Yehezkel Fionn. Who was he really?

Yehezkel took a seat behind his desk and watched the newly appointed bodyguards scramble away.

Cathalina Perez, Hmm.

The name sat in his mind like it belonged to a queen of the Mexican drug cartels. He scoffed at the thought but she did look somewhat strong yet short and he genuinely never expect a woman as the head of a security team.

Hmm, that must mean one thing, impressive either by strength or intelligence, maybe both.

Yehezkel took a deep breath for the day ahead before returning to his work.

"Excuse me" Cathalina headed into Lyon's office.

He looked up, "How can I help you?"

"I came to make a report on how I and my team are unaware of Mr. Fionn's schedule" she began, "I would like to know why this happened and would like to receive his schedule immediately"

Lyon inhaled and sat back,

"My apologies Miss Cathalina, you are not privy to the knowledge of his schedule"

"Excuse me?" her brows wrinkled.

"We are to protect him so how can we achieve that when we are without knowledge of where he is going to be, at what time and point?"

Lyon shrugged, "My sincerest apologies"

'My sincerest apologies? Is this a joke?'

Cathalina nodded, calming herself as she walked out and headed to Yehezkel's office. This was a test she could not handle if she had no access to basic information and decided that this Mr. Fionn must amend the issue immediately. The integrity of Delta 14 Division was at stake.

"Excuse me Mr. Fionn" she knocked and headed in immediately.

Yehezkel lifted his index and for the next 2 minutes, the room sat in a long, quiet silence. Sitting back, Yehezkel took off his glasses and looked up at her -ready, for whatever she had to say.

"I came to make a complaint" she began," You have stated that if we have any questions/ enquiries we can reach out to your assistant, Mr. Lyon Dickson"

He nodded.

"But your schedule wasn't sent to us, last night nor this morning and upon enquiry with you assistant, I was told that your schedule is not privy to I and my team which I find a great inconvenience as we are in the position to protect you"

He listened and nodded before tapping a button on the flat landline that laid on his desk, leaning forward,

"Sir" a voice echoed from the landline

"Your presence is required in my office immediately"

"One moment"

The line went silent and Yehezkel sat back.

All the while she attempted to remain calm of the distant anger from frustration, she couldn't help the sense of discomfort that grew increasingly by each second as Yehezkel's gaze sat steadily on her.

About to speak, Lyon walked in,

"You asked for me sir?" he walked forward as he noticed Cathalina at a corner of the room.

Yehezkel nodded, "I hear they weren't given my schedule and I want to know why?"

"Mrs. Enid made it known to their contractor and everything was agreed upon during their discussion"

"Why do I not know this?"

"My apologies, I didn't wish to add to your burden"

"Well thank you but that won't be necessary" Yehezkel sat up, "Regarding this case, were signatures handed?"

"Not precisely"

"Then hand over the necessary files immediately before we head out by the next hour"

"Yes sir" Lyon walked out, shutting the door behind him.

Yehezkel turned to Cathalina,

"Anything else?"

"No" she answered strictly, "Thank you Sir"

"Mm" he hummed in response.
