**The Next Day – Afternoon at Sneha's House**
It was a hazy afternoon.
Clouds had gathered in the sky, but the rain had not yet begun.
On the veranda (Balcony) of the house stood an old swing.
Sneha sat on it, glancing repeatedly at her watch.
Her fingers nervously toyed with the corner of her scarf.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
*Ding-dong!*
Sneha's heart thudded hard.
She stood up quickly. Her aunt moved toward the door.
Her uncle emerged from the inner room.
The moment the door opened, a calm, dignified, strikingly handsome man stood before them—
dressed simply in a plain shirt and trousers, his eyes carrying a quiet strength.
A faint, gentle smile touched his lips.
"Namaskar. I am Anurag Banerjee. I teach Chemistry to Sneha at school. You must know me."
Her aunt was slightly surprised but responded politely—
"Oh… you… please come inside."
Inside, a subtle tension hung in the air.
Sneha stood near the door.
When she saw him, Anurag Sir gave her a soft smile, but said nothing more.
Tea was on its way, but even without drinking it, some conversations could unlock doors—and Anurag Sir seemed to know exactly how.
Clearing his throat lightly, he began—
"I've come today to discuss something important. The school is organizing an educational trip to a small hill town called Jaigaon. Sneha really wants to join. But she said she won't go without your permission. That's why I came myself… to speak with you."
Her aunt replied with a somewhat stern expression—
"Is it so easy to send a girl outside, Sir? What if something happens?"
Anurag Sir spoke calmly—
"Your concern is completely valid. But Sneha is a very bright student. She wants to gain courage, to live a little on her own terms. This trip isn't just for enjoyment—it's also very important for building her confidence.
And I will be with her. Several other teachers from school will also be there. She won't be alone at any moment. I give you my personal guarantee—I will keep an eye on Sneha every single second. If you wish, you can call every day to check on her."
Her uncle had been listening quietly all this time. Now he spoke—
"Sir, I didn't expect you to come personally. We trust your words. But…"
He glanced toward his wife.
Her aunt let out a long sigh—
"Sneha, you know how worried I get for you… but if your Sir is giving so much assurance… and if you really want to go…"
Sneha ran to her aunt and buried her face in her lap.
"I want to go, Auntie… please…"
Her aunt slowly stroked her head.
"Alright… go. But call every day. And listen to your Sir."
Relief flickered in Anurag Sir's eyes, and Sneha's face lit up like a glowing lamp.

**A Week Later**
**■ Day of the Trip – Thursday Morning**
**🚌 School Bus Stand, in front of the gate**
4 a.m. The sky was still dark. But the bus stand was already alive with light-filled faces.
The chatter of girls, the anxious busyness of guardians, and the instructions of teachers—it all felt like the beginning of a festival.
Sneha stood in a creamy pink sweater and blue jeans, looking soft and radiant. A large bag hung from her shoulder, and she held a small handbag. Her uncle and aunt stood beside her, faces etched with worry.
Just then, Anurag Sir stepped down from a car.
The moment her uncle and aunt saw him, a trace of reassurance appeared on their faces.
Sir walked over and spoke politely—
"You don't need to worry at all. I am taking full responsibility for Sneha during this entire trip. Sneha is not just my student—she is also my responsibility."
Sneha's uncle remained silent for a moment. Then he said quietly—
"We want to trust you, Sir… just make sure our girl doesn't face any trouble."
Anurag Sir bowed his head slightly—
"I promise—there will be no trouble for her."
Sneha stood there, trembling inside with excitement at the thought of the coming adventure—and at the thought of spending time with Anurag Sir.
But when her aunt softly said, "Go, stay careful," tears welled in Sneha's eyes.
Even though it was only five days, leaving her uncle and aunt made her heart ache.
She wasn't used to being away.
**■ Inside the Bus – 5 a.m.**
The girls were scrambling to find seats.
Sneha managed to get a window seat and sat down. A little later, someone came and sat beside her.
The moment Anurag Sir stepped into the bus, a wave of excitement rippled through the girls.
It was as if the hero of a movie had made his entry!
Seeing their joy, Anurag Sir gave a sweet, gentle smile.
Anurag Sir (with a bright smile):
"Girls, let's enjoy the journey!"
His words made the girls' hearts flutter like colorful butterflies.
Everyone shouted excitedly—
"Yes, Sir!"
Anwesha:
"Sir, if only you sat next to me!"
Ahana:
"Ugh, if I could just sit close to Sir, I'd hug him!"
Sir began walking down the aisle. Every girl's eyes followed him.
And where did he stop?
Right beside Sneha's seat.
Some girls whispered—
"I knew it, I knew it."
"Sir only understands Sneha."
"Ugh! I want to be Sneha in my next life!"
Sneha had been quietly looking out the window.
Sir came close, smiled softly, and said—
"I've decided—I'm sitting next to you."
Sneha was stunned. She looked up at him with wide, doll-like eyes—
"Sir… really?"
Anurag Sir sat beside her and said—
"Absolutely! I promised your uncle and aunt."
The moment Sir sat down, an invisible circle of safety seemed to wrap around Sneha.
But her mind was still spinning with worry—"What if I vomit? Sir is sitting right here! How embarrassing that would be."
In a shy voice, she said—
"Sir… I get motion sickness very easily… in buses…"
Anurag Sir nodded gently. In his eyes was that familiar calm, in his voice a reassuring touch—
"Yes, I know. Your aunt told me. I've brought everything—lemon slices, medicine, vomit bags… even paper towels. If anything happens, just tell me, okay?"
Sneha froze.
He had prepared so much—for her!
Her heart melted completely.
She smiled shyly and said—
"Sir… are you always this prepared?"
Sir smiled lightly—
"Not always… but you are my responsibility—I can't forget that."
A soft tenderness touched Sneha's heart.
There was love in Anurag Sir's voice—there was a safe shadow, a sense of reliance that very few people could give.
Sir now took out a small thermos from his bag—
"I brought ginger tea for you. It's not good to travel on an empty stomach—gas and nausea both get worse. I'll cool it down a little. In the meantime, eat this bread and banana."
Sir handed her the bread and banana. Sneha began eating.
She looked at him with amazed eyes. Slowly, the nervous feeling she had before boarding the bus began to fade.
While Sir was blowing on the tea to cool it, Sneha suddenly thought—*If only those lips touched mine once…*
Just then, Sir glanced at her.
Embarrassed, Sneha quickly turned to look out the window.
Sir gently handed her the cup.
"Here, have some tea now. Then you can sleep. I'm right here."
Sneha took the cup and smiled.
Not just a smile—her eyes held a strange peace.
She knew—this trip was not just about seeing hills or nature.
This journey… was about love, safety, and a quiet trust.

**■ The bus began moving**
Outside, the red light of the rising sun slowly spread across the sky.
And inside, beside the small window of the bus, a new sun was rising in Sneha's heart.
Having Sneha so close, Sir desperately wanted to touch her once. But he knew he couldn't—not with the bus full of students!
Anurag Sir didn't look into Sneha's eyes. Instead, he gazed out the window and said softly—
"Sneha… if you have any problem at all, just tell me."
To be continued...
