He had never liked Kustav, and he wasn't bothering to hide it now.
"We are all concerned about the Veil," Alpha Yelena cut in, her sharp tone silencing the bickering. "It is destabilizing. The rifts are growing. If she cannot ascend, or if the bond itself prevents her ascension, then this entire exercise is a pointless charade. The Luna Duel becomes mere theater while the realm collapses around us."
Murmurs of grim agreement rippled through the semi-circle of Alphas.
