Mina lifts her head sharply, her large eyes filling with fresh tears as she stretches her hands toward me, the wool slipping slightly off one shoulder. "Lucy, no… please…"
I let out a harsh, mocking scoff. "Don't even bother, Mina. I am not fooled by your little theatrical displays anymore. I know you lied against Doyle during the tribunal. I know you killed my child alone… and using his name as a shield. Or did you honestly think the years away had dulled my memory of who you truly are?"
She bites her lower lip so hard it begins to bleed, her eyes dropping as the fake fear hardens back into that familiar, blank void.
Good. At least she's self aware.
"Jaxl, take Zeno away from here… you know what to do…"
Just as Jaxl leaves in the company of a downcasted Zeno, I gesture to the two guards. They walk into the cell, grabbing Mina firmly by the shoulders and hauling her up from the floor, trailing behind us as we begin the march deeper into the subterranean complex.
