Two days earlier, deep inside the Eclipse Tower.
Dominus's private office was a study in controlled decadence. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the glittering city skyline, the glass tinted so the outside world remained a distant, blurry spectacle. The room was dimly lit by recessed amber lights that cast long shadows across black marble floors and walls lined with custom-made restraints, glass cases of toys, and silent monitors streaming live feeds from various ongoing "projects." The air carried a faint mix of expensive cologne, leather, and something sharper — the lingering scent of recent use.
Dominus sat behind his massive curved desk, black silk robe open at the chest, a cigarette burning between his fingers. His average, unremarkable face looked almost soft in the low light, but his eyes held the same cold intelligence that had built an empire on other people's ruin.
The door opened without a knock.
Julian Cane stepped inside.
He looked almost harmless at first glance — eighteen years old, lean but well-built, dark hair falling just past his collar in soft waves, sharp jawline, and a face that still carried the last traces of boyish softness. He wore a simple black shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows and dark trousers that fit him well. His smile was easy, almost polite.
Only someone who looked closer would notice the way his eyes never quite matched the expression — flat, hungry, and already calculating.
Dominus was still on a call.
"Alright," he said, voice low and smooth. "I will arrange a meeting today. I'm sending you the location. Be there at noon."
He ended the call without waiting for a reply and set the phone down.
Julian's gaze drifted past him and landed on the secretary standing silently beside the desk. She was young, slightly plump, wearing a tight blouse that strained across her chest. The moment Julian's eyes settled on her, he licked his lips slowly, deliberately, the tip of his tongue visible.
The secretary stiffened and immediately looked away, her cheeks flushing with discomfort.
Dominus noticed.
"Sit," he ordered.
Julian turned toward him with a lazy smile and dropped into the chair opposite the desk, legs stretched out, posture completely at ease.
"Why did you call me, Father?" he asked, voice light and almost playful.
Dominus picked up his cup of tea — the special one his secretary prepared — and took a slow sip. A thin smile spread across his face.
"The time has finally come to take our revenge."
Julian's smile widened, but his eyes sharpened.
"Eleanor?"
Dominus set the cup down with a soft clink.
"Eleanor. Her precious son. The entire empire she built on the ruins of my family." He leaned forward slightly. "And the woman responsible for your father's death… the one who left you an orphan. You haven't forgotten, have you?"
Julian laughed under his breath, a soft, almost boyish sound that did not match the cruelty in his eyes.
"Yeah… how many times are you going to say it, old man? It's getting boring. You want the revenge. I want the inheritance that was mine by right. And I want to see the look on Fin's face when I take everything from him."
Dominus's smile turned colder.
"Good. Let him crack further. I want him broken before we finish him. But you need to be careful. Eleanor is not stupid. She agreed to the marriage because she is desperate to protect her son. She will look for any chance to turn the tables."
Julian leaned back in the chair, fingers steepled under his chin.
"Let her look. I've been waiting my whole life for this. Every night I spent training, every order I followed, every time I watched those Harringtons live like gods while we crawled in the dark… it was all for this moment."
He glanced again at the secretary. She kept her eyes fixed on the floor.
Dominus followed his gaze and smirked.
"Not now. Focus."
Julian sighed theatrically and turned his attention fully back to Dominus.
"So what's the next move?"
Dominus took another slow sip of tea, the steam curling between them.
"Eleanor asked to meet with you before completing her end of the deal. Meet her. But be careful of what you say."
He set the cup down and looked at Julian with quiet intensity.
"Your job is simple. Stay close to Eleanor. Make her believe you are the obedient husband she needs. And when the time is right… I want you to break her in front of her son."
Julian's smile returned, slow and dark.
"Gladly."
He stood up, stretching his body with casual arrogance.
"I'll call you after meeting my step-mom… no. My future wife."

The private dining room of the high-end restaurant was quiet, elegant, and carefully isolated from the rest of the establishment. Soft golden lighting reflected off polished wood and crystal. Large windows offered a sweeping view of the city at night, the lights below looking like scattered jewels. The air carried the faint scent of expensive wine and fresh flowers arranged on the side table.
Eleanor Harrington sat with perfect posture, one hand resting lightly on the table. She wore a tailored charcoal dress that hugged her mature, voluptuous figure without being overtly revealing, the fabric emphasizing the elegant curve of her waist and the full swell of her breasts. Her rich brown hair was pulled into a sleek low chignon, a few strands framing her sharp, beautiful face. Her expression was calm, almost bored, but her eyes were sharp and assessing as they lingered on the city lights outside.
Elena stood silently behind her chair, composed and alert.
The door opened.
Julian Cane stepped inside.
The moment his eyes landed on Eleanor, his breath caught for a fraction of a second. He had seen photographs. He had been told stories. But seeing her in person was different. The mature, refined beauty, the quiet power in the way she held herself, the cold intelligence in her gaze — it was on an entirely different level.
Damn… this milf is a whole different league, he thought, a dark hunger flickering behind his eyes before he quickly masked it.
Eleanor turned her head slightly, her gaze settling on him. For a brief moment something unreadable passed through her eyes — a faint recognition of the resemblance to her late husband's family line — before it vanished. She gestured toward the chair opposite her with a single, elegant motion.
"Sit."
Julian composed himself quickly and took the seat. He offered a polite smile.
"Hello. It's nice to meet you. I'm Jul—"
Eleanor raised one hand, cutting him off cleanly.
"You do not need to introduce yourself to me," she said, her voice smooth and cold. "Nor do you need to perform any of the fake gestures that fool trained into you. I have seen them. I have lived them. And I have risen far above them."
Julian's mouth opened, then closed. For the first time since entering, his carefully crafted ease faltered. A faint flush of awkwardness colored his cheeks.
"Elena," Eleanor said without looking away from him.
Elena stepped forward immediately, placing a thick folder on the table in front of Julian. She opened it to the first page and stepped back.
Eleanor continued, her tone flat and precise.
"This is the agreement I have prepared. To summarize: you will act as my husband for as long as I require it. You will not touch me. You will not share a room with me without necessity. No one will know this marriage is a fabrication. You will remain inside the mansion and will not leave without my explicit permission. If you break any of these conditions, you will be dealt with accordingly. Most importantly — you are not allowed to disclose the existence of this agreement to anyone, including your master, Simon Harrington."
Julian stared down at the pages. The language was cold, legal, and airtight. Every clause was designed to strip him of any real power while still binding him to the role Eleanor needed him to play.
He looked up slowly.
"And if I refuse to sign?" he asked, keeping his voice light even as his fingers tightened slightly on the edge of the folder.
Eleanor's lips curved into the faintest, coldest smile.
"Then the deal ends. And your master will learn that his carefully raised weapon failed at the first real test. I doubt he will be as forgiving as I am."
The silence that followed was heavy.
Eleanor leaned forward slightly, her eyes never leaving his face.
"What did he promise you?" she asked, her voice soft but sharp. "Your birthright?"
Julian's face tensed. For the first time, the carefully maintained mask cracked.
Eleanor continued without waiting for an answer.
"It seems I was right. But did you ever stop to think? If taking anything from my hands was so easy, why did Simon wait this long? Unlike you, who were born out of wedlock, Simon carried the Harrington name. So why do you think he never dared to stand in front of me himself?"
Julian's expression shifted as the realization settled in. He had been raised by a drug-addicted mother until the day Simon appeared and pulled him into a life of luxury, training, and carefully fed hatred.
When Julian once asked why, Simon had told him that his father had been the chairman of the Harrington empire, and that the wife of that man had stripped him of everything that was rightfully his. Simon had also claimed to be the younger brother of Julian's father. Doubts had come to him over the years, but Julian had never voiced them. Why risk the comfortable life he had finally been given?
Seeing that Julian had no answer, Eleanor pressed on.
"It is because of the way the family trust was built — to protect the wealth from falling into the wrong hands. Even I do not have full access to the Harrington fortune. Only my son, the true heir, holds that power. Whatever promises Simon made to you are nothing more than bait. He is using you."
She sat back, her tone turning almost indifferent.
"Now, kid. If you sign this, I will give you wealth you can only dream of. You will never need to depend on anyone again. Reject me, and you can go back to licking scraps from your master's hand."
Julian's eyes flicked once more to Eleanor's face, then to Elena standing silently behind her. For a brief second the hunger and resentment in his gaze were impossible to hide — sharper and more personal than the look he had given the secretary earlier.
Then the mask slid back into place.
He picked up the pen Elena had placed beside the folder.
"So the marriage isn't even real," he said quietly.
Elena answered this time, her voice calm and precise.
"Of course it is not real. It is a complete façade arranged by Madam. Everyone will believe it, but it will never enter any legal system."
Julian chuckled under his breath and shook his head. Without another word, he signed the agreement.
Eleanor did not comment. She simply stood up and began walking toward the door.
"A car will arrive to pick you up," she said without looking back. "I hope you are intelligent enough not to disclose our agreement to anyone."
Elena opened the door. The two women left without another glance.
Julian remained seated for a moment, staring at the signed pages. Then a slow, dark smirk curved his lips.
"Well… I have nothing to lose," he murmured to himself. "Either way, I get the money."
He leaned back in the chair, eyes still fixed on the door Eleanor had just walked through, the hunger in them no longer fully hidden.
