The Sun slowly rose over the hills that kept the city hidden from the bottom. Bright sunlight hit Nevooa's face.
Nevooa walked though the city with the thoughts of a purpose in his mind. He didn't know what he wanted to do. But at that moment a thought popped up into his mind. Komodo! Maybe Komodo could help him.
He walked around the city for a couple of hours to find him but he couldn't. Then he started asking people if they knew where he was.
"No, I don't know where he's at?"
"Komodo? Who is he?"
"Ohh you mean that guy. Heh I don't know where he's at."
"Komodo? You mean the fraud that lost his strength? I don't give a fuck about that bum?"
"Who's that?"
"That name sounds familiar but I don't know?"
"He might be on the outskirts of the city."
"I think I saw him around the the hills that surround the city."
These were a few of the replies that Nevooa got.
Nevooa started walking around the outskirts of the city. It was already mid afternoon and Nevooa was already tired.
He saw a man sitting, watching the view of the sunset even though it wouldn't be dark until a few hours later.
Nevooa started to climb the hills. The hills went straight up while barley being sloped. They were around the size of 25 story buildings.
Once Nevooa reached the peak of it his hands were all cracked and bleeding. Plus he was all worn out due to the way the hills were made.
He started to walked towards the man. The man was indeed Komodo and he was just staring into the Sun.
"Komodo! What are you doing?" Nevooa shouted.
Komodo turned his head and saw Nevooa running towards him.
"I'm just thinking right now." He replied.
"Thinking about what?" Nevooa asked.
"A time," Komodo said, "A time when I was happier."
"So are you sadder now?" Nevooa said.
"Yeah, I am." Komodo replied.
"I came up here to ask you something." Nevooa said.
Komodo responded, "What for?"
"I want to know what your purpose is?" Nevooa replied, "This guy was helping me make stuff but he said I needed some sort of purpose to make better stuff."
"My purpose?," Komodo responded then took a break to think, "I don't have one."
"Oh." Nevooa said.
"It's okay though. Because I have a goal of my own. And that holds the same value." Komodo said.
"And what is your goal?" Nevooa said.
"My goal is to die." Komodo replied.
"You want to die?! Is that why you where up here because you where going to jump." Nevooa said.
"If jumping off from here could kill me I would already be dead fifty years ago." Komodo said.
"FIFTY?! How old are you?" Nevooa replied in a shocking manner.
"I'm only around 73 years old. Awakeners can live longer than normal people." Komodo said calmly.
"Okay, but why do you want to die." Nevooa asked.
...
"I want to die because I made a pledge with an old friend and I lost him." Komodo said.
"A pledge?" Nevooa said.
"Pledges is an advanced technique awakeners use. It basically makes it so you gain something but something else will have a constraint." Komodo replied. "The pledge I made with my friend was that we shared the same power level, but if one of us died it would be cut in half and not be able to grow stronger after that."
"So your friend died and you lost your power." Nevooa said.
"Yes, I was around a mid to high general back then." Komodo said.
"By the way when you said your goal was to die why didn't you just let yourself be killed back in that forest?" Nevooa said.
"I guess, I'm just afraid of death." Komodo said.
"Someone who wants to die but is afraid to do so, hmm." Nevooa said.
"Lets make a pledge Nevooa." Komodo said.
"Really?" Nevooa said surprised.
"The pledge will be that you have to kill me and in return you will be given my power. However, you will have to take on my memories with it and it will include all my suffering, peaks, it will be as if you were me."
"What if one of us were to die before it?" Nevooa asked.
"If one of us were to die before it you will die with me but you die first I will become immortal and live till the end of time." Komodo said.
"You'll really do that." Nevooa replied.
"Yes I will, if you have the power to rival Novak then in enough time you'll be able to kill me." Komodo said.
Nevooa thought for a moment before saying, "So how do we actually make this pledge come into reality."
"We have to write it down on a piece of paper and burn with our life force. It's like a ritual and the god that takes it will be the one who puts it in place." Komodo said.
They then wrote it down on a piece of paper. Then they set the paper on fire using Nevooa's sword.
They put their hands into the fire and used their life force. Although the fire would easily burn Nevooa's skin his life force protected him. Once the paper was all gone and the fire went out they stopped.
"Now that the pledge is in place you have to follow it." Komodo said.
"So I have to kill you right now?" Nevooa said.
"You can't right now. You would have to be stronger or equal to me." Komodo said, "And if you were to use a weapon that is stronger than me you wouldn't be able to use it. It would be as if you trying to carry a mountain."
"OH SHOOT!" Nevooa said, "It's almost dusk and I have to get somewhere!"
Nevooa started to climb down the mountain.
"BYE KOMODO!" He said.
"See you then." Komodo replied.
Komodo still stayed at the top of the hills watching the sunset. It was beautiful, the Sun's golden rays shun all over Komodo.
And he said, "Maybe I don't want to die just yet."
As he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
