Cael and Reze finished tidying the funeral home, preparing to receive the incoming bodies.
However, the first visitors to arrive were neither the Kyoto Public Safety officers nor Kobeni.
Instead, two familiar figures appeared.
Hayakawa Aki and Power.
"Huo huo~"
Power stood outside the funeral home, her eyes shining with excitement as she looked around.
"This house looks quite spacious. Why does it look so much like my house?"
She paused, pretending to think.
"Oh, I remember now."
"I built this house for the prime minister's hand."
"Stop talking nonsense," Hayakawa Aki said flatly. She looked at Power with clear annoyance before pressing the doorbell.
Ding dong.
A moment later, the door opened.
Cael stepped outside.
Power's face immediately twisted into a smug grin, ready to greet him enthusiastically.
Then Reze walked out from behind Cael, looking bright and relaxed.
Both visitors froze.
Power's jaw dropped.
"Holy sh*t. The Bomb Girl!"
"What?" Aki reacted instantly, her hand moving toward her lifespan sword as if facing a deadly enemy. "Why the hell are you here?"
They had fought Reze before.
They knew very well how terrifying she was.
Reze smiled sweetly and casually wrapped an arm around Cael.
"Oh my, Cael's colleagues are so hostile," she said playfully. "Could you please not kill me?"
Cael rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah… that situation is a bit complicated."
He shrugged.
"Anyway, Reze is not an enemy anymore. She works here now. Makima already knows."
"Let's just focus on the job."
Aki stared at him for a moment.
Then her tense expression slowly relaxed.
She did not question it further.
In a world like this, absurd things happened every day.
Compared to the existence of the Gun Devil, this barely registered as strange.
"Impressive, prime minister's hand!" Power shouted happily.
As a Blood Fiend highly rated by Kishibe, Power's mind worked in a very unique way.
"I understand!"
"This is called turning an enemy into a friend… or turning an enemy into a poker partner!"
She slapped Cael on the shoulder and pointed directly at Reze.
"So tell me, have you already gone to bed and made hate with this woman?"
Cael froze.
He stared at Power in silence.
This brat had absolutely no filter.
Good thing Asa was not here to hear that.
That would have been a nightmare.
Reze, however, seemed amused.
Dirty talk was one of her specialties.
She smiled slyly and pointed at her lips.
"Cael and I are still just platonic friends."
"If we ever decide to make hate one day, I hope Power will come and watch."
Power blinked.
"Huh? Why the hell would I watch you two make hate?"
Reze giggled.
"Because you are the Blood Fiend and have plenty of blood."
"Cael and I are Weapon Humans. If we run out of energy while making hate, you can feed us some blood and we will be fully revived."
Power burst into loud laughter.
"Good idea! You are a genius who deserves a Nobel Prize!"
"Make sure you call me next time!"
Cael's face stiffened.
Even he would not say things like that while flirting with Asa.
Aki quietly turned her head and stared at the clouds, pretending to admire the scenery.
What the hell is wrong with these people…
This world is a madhouse.
He wished he were deaf.
Just as Cael was about to steer the conversation back to business, the distant sound of an engine reached them.
A red sedan slowly turned the corner and came into view.
At that moment, Cael's system panel reacted.
Luck: 299 → 29.9
Well.
With that happening, he already knew who it was.
Soon the car stopped nearby.
Cael and the others walked over.
Inside the car, Kobeni sat in the driver's seat, trembling.
Cold sweat soaked her clothes.
There were two corpses lying in the back seat.
No one understood how terrifying that felt.
Using a brand new car as a hearse was truly painful.
Money was hard to earn.
Life was even harder.
Kobeni slowly got out of the car.
She did not expect to see her former colleagues standing there.
"Aki… why are you here?" she asked nervously.
Aki also looked surprised.
"Kobeni? Why are you here?"
Out of habit, Kobeni bowed.
"I am helping my boss transport some remains."
"Senior Aki, why are you here too?"
"For… the whole family?"
Aki raised an eyebrow.
"Whole family?"
"S sorry!"
Kobeni immediately covered her mouth.
Her workplace habit slipped out again.
So embarrassing.
"I am here to wait for someone," Aki said calmly. "Important business."
Kobeni was no longer a Devil Hunter.
The attack on the Kyoto Public Safety Division was confidential.
Outsiders were not supposed to know about it.
Power suddenly stepped forward and slapped Kobeni's shoulder hard.
"Hey!"
"Shorty, it has been ages since we met. Why do you greet Braid Girl but ignore me?"
Kobeni panicked.
"Uh… hello, Miss Power…"
"Have you not eaten?" Power barked. "Say it louder!"
"I…"
Cael stepped in before Kobeni started crying.
"Alright, alright."
He gently pushed Power aside.
"President of the World, show some mercy to your citizens."
"Fine."
Power's temper vanished as quickly as it appeared.
Cael glanced into the car.
Two blue body bags lay in the back seat.
Those must be the remains Kobeni mentioned earlier.
"Kobeni," Cael said, "I know you might be in a hurry, but hold on for a moment."
"Aki's clients booked earlier, so they go first."
"But do not worry, there will be plenty of time."
Kobeni nodded quickly.
"I am not in a hurry…"
"Good."
Cael looked toward Aki.
"Call that Kyoto Public Safety guy and see how long he will take."
"Alright."
Aki pulled out her phone and prepared to call.
Buzz.
Before the call connected, another car arrived.
A black sedan stopped nearby.
The driver stepped out.
It was Mr. Ang.
His body was covered in scars and he looked exhausted.
"He is here," Aki said quietly.
"Then let's get to work," Cael replied.
Cael, Reze, and Aki walked toward him.
Aki handed him a cigarette.
"Mr. Ang, your injuries look serious. You should go to the hospital."
Mr. Ang glanced at her, then briefly looked at Cael and Reze.
Both were attractive.
Exactly his type.
But compared to them, Cael was far more valuable.
A living bounty worth twenty million dollars.
Just like the intelligence said.
Definitely him.
No mistake.
Mr. Ang lit the cigarette and sighed.
"My injuries are nothing."
"Okamoto and Ono were my students."
"I will avenge them personally."
Then he turned to Cael.
"You must be the undertaker. Please help them rest in peace."
Cael nodded and opened the trunk.
Inside were two bodies.
Their eyes were still wide open.
Not far away, Kobeni stayed by her car.
She did not dare approach.
She was no longer a Devil Hunter.
Getting involved with dangerous incidents again could easily get her killed.
Power also stayed behind.
But for a completely different reason.
She had taken interest in Kobeni's car.
Bang.
Without asking permission, Power opened the driver's door and sat inside.
"Oh my."
"My legs are numb from walking."
"Sitting is much better."
Kobeni panicked and quickly climbed into the passenger seat.
"Miss Power, please do not…"
"Ah! You thief!" Power suddenly shouted.
"Huh?"
"Shorty thief! Why did you get into my car without permission?"
Kobeni's brain froze.
"Is this not… my car?"
"Nonsense!"
Power slammed the steering wheel proudly.
"This car looks exactly like the one at my house!"
"Look!"
"The seat fits me perfectly!"
"It is clearly my car!"
Kobeni's face twitched.
"I… I have the purchase receipt…"
"See if you do not believe me…"
Power ignored her completely.
"Are you dissatisfied?"
"Do you want me to wash the car with your blood?"
Cold sweat ran down Kobeni's face.
"N no…"
"Miss Power, since you are in the driver's seat, please do not move your feet…"
"Oh please."
"I have had a driver's license since I was three!"
VROOOOM.
Power slammed the accelerator.
The car roared violently.
It shot forward like a wild beast.
Straight toward the group ahead.
Bang.
Mr. Ang, who had just reached out to shake Cael's hand, was instantly hit.
His body slammed into a nearby utility pole.
He did not even have time to scream.
His organs burst.
Blood sprayed everywhere.
His intestines spilled across the ground.
He died instantly.
Kobeni sat frozen in the passenger seat.
"Am… ambulance…"
Power wiped sweat from her forehead and bit her lip.
"Oops."
But she recovered quickly.
She fixed her hair and turned to Kobeni with a serious expression.
"I just remembered something."
"The car at my house does not look like this."
She pointed at Kobeni.
"Shorty."
"This is your car."
"It has nothing to do with me."
