"Are you sure you want to do this?" Scorpion asked as he held Alex around his waist, one hand on his boyfriend's cheek, gazing at his sad expression.
Alex scoffed and sighed.
"It's okay, Scorp. I can do this. It's high time I faced them…"
It had been three days since Raphael's raid on Midnight's manor.
Three days since the underground wing had echoed with gunfire and the metallic clang of handcuffs.
Three days since Alex had seen the Rodrigo brothers for the first time in three years.
The house had been nothing but tense silence and heavy footsteps ever since. Guards patrolled the corridors more frequently. Midnight had doubled security. Scorpion barely left Alex's side. Even Pepper seemed to sense the shift she asked fewer questions and stayed closer to Alex or anyone than usual.
