Chapter 88 - Chapter 205: Gateway Entity — Beyond Sync

The world went silent again.

But this time—

It wasn't the Anchor's doing.

It was something deeper.

Something that made even the system… hesitate.

The Gateway Opens

The three Anchor Guardians aligned perfectly.

For the first time—

No instability.

No distortion.

Just… synchronization.

The black sphere behind them expanded—

Not violently.

But inevitably.

Like a door that had always been meant to open.

Ben's breath slowed.

"…That's not an anchor."

The Second Variable stood calmly, watching.

"No," he said.

"It's what anchors are connected to."

System Breakdown

[ERROR: DATA UNAVAILABLE][ENTITY CLASSIFICATION FAILED][ATTEMPTING REDEFINE… FAILED][STATUS: OBSERVER DETECTED]

"…Observer?" Sarah whispered.

Her voice trembled.

Gardevoir stepped slightly in front of her—instinctively protective.

Even the other trainers froze.

Their Pokémon—powerful, trained, battle-hardened—

All silent.

All unwilling to move.

First Glimpse

From within the gateway—

A shape formed.

Not fully visible.

Not fully present.

Just—

Outlined.

A massive eye-like structure.

Not organic.

Not mechanical.

Something else entirely.

It didn't blink.

It didn't move.

But everyone felt it.

Watching.

Pressure

Ben dropped to one knee.

"…What… is this…"

Charizard struggled beside him, wings trembling under invisible pressure.

Doublade's blades shook violently.

Sarah collapsed partially, gripping her head.

"It's like… it's looking inside my mind…!"

The Second Variable's Reaction

For the first time—

The boy stepped back.

Just one step.

"…So even you're here already…"

His voice—calm, but quieter.

More cautious.

The Truth Revealed

"Anchors don't stabilize worlds," he said slowly.

"They connect them."

Ben forced himself up.

"…To what?"

The boy looked at the gateway.

"…To observers."

Concept Shift

"Every reality… every Pokémon… every choice…"

The boy continued.

"…is monitored."

Ben clenched his fists.

"By that thing?!"

"No," the boy replied.

"By many."

Silence fell.

Cold.

Heavy.

Observer Interaction

The eye shifted slightly.

Not physically—

But in awareness.

It focused.

On Ben.

The system flickered violently.

[SYNC HOLDER IDENTIFIED][EVALUATION IN PROGRESS…]

Ben's vision distorted.

Suddenly—

He wasn't in the Null Zone anymore.

Mental Projection

He stood in an endless space.

Dark.

But filled with faint glowing points—

Like stars.

Each one—

A world.

A timeline.

A possibility.

His breath caught.

"…All of this…"

A voice echoed.

Not loud.

Not soft.

Just… present.

"VARIABLE DETECTED."

Observer Communication

Ben turned.

There was no body.

No form.

Just presence.

"What are you?" he demanded.

A pause.

Then—

"WE OBSERVE."

"That doesn't answer anything!"

"YOU ARE UNSTABLE."

Ben frowned. "I just stabilized two anchors—"

"TEMPORARY."

Judgment

The stars around him flickered.

Some dimmed.

Some vanished entirely.

Ben's eyes widened.

"…Did you just—"

"FAILED VARIABLES ARE REMOVED."

A chill ran down his spine.

"You're destroying worlds."

"CORRECTION."

A pause.

"WE MAINTAIN ORDER."

Rejection

Ben's expression hardened.

"That's not order."

"That's control."

Silence.

Then—

For the first time—

A reaction.

The stars trembled.

Return to Reality

Ben snapped back into the Null Zone.

He gasped, stumbling slightly.

"Ben!" Sarah shouted.

"I'm fine…" he said, breathing heavily.

But his eyes—

Different now.

He understood.

Immediate Danger

The gateway expanded further.

The Observer's presence intensified.

The three Anchor Guardians began merging—

Not into stability—

But into a conduit.

Sarah looked up in horror.

"…It's coming through."

The Second Variable's Goal

Ben turned sharply.

"…This is what you wanted?"

The boy didn't deny it.

"With direct connection… I can access higher control."

Ben stepped forward angrily.

"You're letting it into our world!"

The boy's eyes narrowed.

"…To surpass it."

Conflict of Ideals — Final Setup

Ben shook his head.

"You can't control something like that."

"Everything can be controlled," the boy replied.

"No," Ben said firmly.

"Some things… have to be resisted."

Battle Trigger

The gateway pulsed.

The Observer focused again.

The system screamed:

[CRITICAL EVENT: ENTITY MANIFESTATION IN PROGRESS][ALL SYNC HOLDERS: ENGAGE OR COLLAPSE]

Charizard roared.

Doublade spun into battle stance.

Gardevoir raised a final barrier.

The other trainers regrouped behind them.

Ben stepped forward.

"…We stop it here."

The Second Variable stepped forward too.

"…Try."

Final Scene

The gateway tore wider.

Light and darkness mixed.

Reality trembled.

The Observer began to emerge—

Just a fragment—

But enough.

More than enough.

Ben's aura ignited.

"…Charizard."

Charizard roared back.

Unified.

Ready.

War wasn't coming anymore.

It had arrived.
