Cliff's POV
The past few days were hell, to say the least. Her face was everywhere. Her laughter rang in my head continuously. The way the smell of strawberries filled the air every time she got close to me. Every time her face frowned in annoyance, to the way her eyes gleamed in joy at money. It was strange—it's barely been a week since I met her as Stephanie. How can I fall for the same person twice? Worst of all, my feelings are still one-sided, even if it's been a decade since I tried to move on from her first rejection.
There was no explanation for how I feel about her. There wasn't even a reason like she laughed so pretty that I fell. If anything, it was the way she got annoyed. She frowned, dismissed me, pushed me away—and like a fool, I fell for that. Same woman, and still I am in love.
"There is no going back, it seems." I sighed, leaning my head back.
