Chapter 126: Golden Orange Island Breeding House
After resolving the Drowzee incident, Ash's group could finally explore Kumquat Island properly.
On the way to the Kumquat Island Pokémon Center, Tracy asked excitedly, "Ash, you're that mysterious genius Doctor who defined the Fairy type, released the Eevee evolution forms, and published evolution papers on Pokémon like Feebas and Annihilape, right?"
"That's right," Ash nodded.
"That's great! I've read all the papers you've published. It's amazing to be traveling with the legendary Father of the Fairy type!" Tracy was extremely excited.
Listening to Tracy's words, Ash got goosebumps. "It's not that exaggerated! Tracy, you're making me embarrassed."
"So Ash's standing in the academic world is that high!" Misty realized belatedly.
Before, she and Brock had only thought Ash was an ordinary Pokémon Doctor, perhaps just a younger one. She never expected him to be called the Father of the Fairy type. No wonder Ash was so good at raising Pokémon.
"It's not just high; many academic Elites in various regions have mentioned that Ash's achievements are already on par with Doctor Oak, and he might even surpass Doctor Oak in the future," Tracy said.
"It's really not that exaggerated. Doctor Oak is the most amazing. Besides, my goal is to become a Pokémon Master; academic research is just a hobby," Ash said, scratching his head awkwardly.
Perhaps after becoming a Pokémon Master, he might consider a career in academia, but that would only be after achieving his dream.
Kumquat Island truly lived up to its reputation as the most commercially developed City in the Orange Islands. Less than an hour after the Drowzee incident, it had returned to its former prosperity and liveliness.
The streets were lined with shops selling all sorts of things. The most popular items were naturally related to Pokémon, including evolution Evolution Stone, tools, Pokémon Eggs, and Pokémon fossils. In short, looking around, there were hardly any shops selling duplicate items.
"It's so prosperous here! It just loses a bit of the atmosphere of a southern island," Misty commented.
"Regional development requires economic drive. Kumquat Island's commercial prosperity is a good thing for the Orange Islands. Moreover, a large number of Orange Islands local specialties are gathered here, which allows us to get a good understanding of the Orange Islands and will be very useful for choosing our next travel island," Ash said.
"Ash, it looks like there are Pokémon Eggs for sale over there~" Serena pointed to a lavishly decorated breeding house.
"Okay, let's go take a look."
Ash skillfully took Serena's hand and led her towards the breeding house.
Their hands intertwined made Misty, who was trailing behind, feel a bit uncomfortable, but she still had to follow. Breeding houses on southern islands would surely have a lot of Water type Pokémon, and she didn't want to Miss out.
Tracy did not follow the three into the breeding house but went off to observe other people's Pokémon.
As soon as the three entered the shop, a Miss in a work uniform greeted them. "Welcome! Are you looking to buy Pokémon or Pokémon Eggs?"
Ash said, "Can you show us around first?"
"No problem, please follow me," the Miss gestured.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our Jin Gan Breeding House is the largest chain breeding house in the entire Orange Islands. Most of our Pokémon are Water type, but of course, we also have other types. If you have any specific Pokémon you're looking for, please let us know. As long as we have them at our other regional branches, we can arrange for them to be transferred here."
"Hmm... let's just look first."
Looking at the neatly arranged shelves inside the shop, row after row of Pokémon Eggs waiting to hatch, Ash was indeed a little tempted.
"So many Pokémon Eggs!"
It was Serena's first time seeing Pokémon Eggs with various patterns and colors.
Misty asked, "Are all of these Water type Pokémon?"
The Miss replied, "The ones on the first floor are indeed all Water type. Eggs of other types are stored on the second floor. Of course, our shop also has a special area for 'gambling eggs'.
Our most popular ones are Squirtle, Poliwag, Exeggutor, and Skarmory."
"They have Squirtle too?" Misty was a little surprised.
Squirtle, one of the First Generation Starters, is a Pokémon many Rookie Trainers dream of but rarely encounter. She didn't expect this breeding house to have them.
"Yes, Squirtle is our Kanto region's Water type First Generation Starters. Our breeding base does have quite a few Squirtle, and their aptitudes are very good. If you are interested, I can take you to see them."
While Misty was chatting with the Miss, Ash also opened his system to observe the neatly arranged Pokémon Eggs.
Pokemon: Skarmory (Unhatched)
Gender: Male
Type: Steel + Flying
Ability: Keen Eye
Aptitude: Gym
Skills: (Omitted)
Pokemon: Wingull (Unhatched)
Ability: Hydration
Aptitude: Elite
"A Wingull with Elite aptitude? And Hydration? If it evolves into a Pelipper, with its Drizzle ability, it would be a perfect weather setter!" Ash thought to himself.
A Pelipper as a weather setter for a rain team—this Pokémon is definitely worth getting. However, Ash currently has no plans to build a rain team, unless he can catch a Basculin; that's the real good rain setter.
He wouldn't get it himself, but that didn't mean he would let it go. Misty, by his side, was a Trainer who specialized in Water type Pokémon, and this Wingull was quite suitable for her.
"Ash, can you tell what kind of Pokémon these Eggs are?" Serena whispered.
Ash nodded silently, "Yes."
"Then quickly help me check these few!"
Serena's gaze was fixed on a few Pokémon Eggs placed casually on the bottom shelf of a nearby display.
Among these Pokémon Eggs, one had brown and cream patterns, one had blue and white patterns, and the last one was entirely dark blue. These few Eggs had one common characteristic: their life fluctuations were very weak, as if they could turn into dead Eggs at any moment.
Pokemon: Partner Eevee (Unhatched)
Type: Normal
Gender: Female
Level: 0
Ability: Adaptability
Aptitude: Champion

Description: This is a special Eevee Egg with congenital deficiencies, which can be compensated for by supplementing with life-force nutrient solutions.
Pokemon: Azurill

Gender: Male
Level: 0
Ability: Huge Power
Aptitude: Quasi-Champion
Skills: (Omitted).....
Description: This is a Pokémon Egg that has lost most of its life essence due to external interference, which can be compensated for by using life essence fluid. Note: Life essence fluid has a small chance of increasing Pokémon aptitude.
Pokemon: Phione
Type: Water
Gender: Genderless
Level: 0
Ability: Hydration
Aptitude: Champion
Skills: Water Gun, Charm.....
Description: This is a Pokémon Egg that has lost most of its life essence due to external interference, which can be compensated for by using life essence fluid. Note: Life essence fluid has a small chance of increasing Pokémon aptitude.
"Partner Eevee? Huge Power Azurill? Phione?"
Ash was stunned. Was this breeding house that well-connected? They even had Phione and Partner Eevee?
However, it seemed the shop didn't realize their value, as these Eggs were not given much importance.
"How is it, Ash? What kind of Pokémon are these three Eggs, after all?" Serena asked in a low voice.
Ash didn't answer directly but instead asked, "Serena, which one caught your eye?"
"This one and this one. I feel like they're calling to me." Serena pointed to the blue-white and dark blue Pokémon Eggs.
"This one is Azurill, and this one is Phione. Since they're calling to you, we'll buy them later. Before we buy them, Serena, don't tell the staff any information about them, okay?" Ash reminded her.
"Okay, I understand, Ash."
