Chapter 261: Guardian of the Water Metropolis (Final Chapter)
After dealing with the threat of the tsunami, Ash returned to the Grand Shrine with Latios and Latias.
Looking at the Soul Dew emitting a murky light on the machine, the red and blue airplanes were also at a loss.
Bianca said dejectedly, "Grandfather, the Soul Dew has been polluted. What should we do?"
Lorenzo's face was full of helplessness. "Sigh, Ash, Latios, and Latias saved Alto Mare. If the Soul Dew is gone, then so be it."
He actually bore some responsibility for the Soul Dew being polluted. Ash had told them that someone was targeting Latias and the others, but neither he nor Latios had taken it to heart, thinking these people were not much different from the poachers of the past.
"Actually, the Soul Dew is the product left behind after a Latios or Latias dies. It has consciousness of its own. I think I might have a way to purify the Soul Dew," Ash said.
Ash's words gave the red and blue airplanes, Lorenzo, and Bianca hope again.
They all turned to look at Ash.
"Purifying the Soul Dew requires the help of Latios and Latias, but before that, I need to make some preparations."
After saying this, Ash took out his phone to contact his mother, Delia, and asked her to send over Gardevoir and Jirachi.
His method was simple and crude: use the ability Jirachi had previously obtained to boost Latios, allowing it to unleash Luster Purge to awaken the residual consciousness of its kin within the Soul Dew.
Half an hour later.
Ash returned to the Grand Shrine with Gardevoir and Jirachi.
However, there were a few more people at the Grand Shrine now: Officer Jenny, Nurse Nurse Joy, Gary, and Lance.
"Huh, Lance, why are you free enough to come here for a vacation?" Ash teased.
Lance, who looked listless and had two heavy dark circles under his eyes, asked back weakly, "Uh... Ash, do I look like I'm here for a vacation?"
"If you're not here for a vacation, then why did you run to the island of Alto Mare?"
"Old Man Goodshow sent me here, saying that Alto Mare was about to face a huge tsunami that could submerge the island. But when I arrived, I only saw a few small waves. If I hadn't seen classmate Kitten at the station, I would have thought it was a phone scam."
Hearing Lance's words, Gary had black lines all over his head and snapped, "Lance, screw your 'classmate Kitten'! My name is Gary Oak! Remember that!"
Lance looked at Gary deeply. "Hmm... sure, next time."
After saying this, he shouted to Officer Jenny, who was taking a statement from Lorenzo, "Officer Jenny, I'll leave the rest to you. I'm taking those two thieves who caused the crisis back to the League to hand over to the Old Man."
"Alright! Thank you for the trouble, Mr. Lance!" Officer Jenny said politely.
After Lance left, the red and blue airplane siblings revealed themselves again.
Officer Jenny was a local police officer of Alto Mare and knew about the two siblings. Even the trouble Latias had caused when she previously disguised herself as Bianca had been covered up by this Officer Jenny.
Not to mention Nurse Nurse Joy; one of their Family members was a Trainer of a Latias, and they had a very close relationship with the red and blue airplane Family.
Latios asked impatiently, "Ash, can we start now?"
Ash nodded and immediately picked up Jirachi, who was lying on top of his head. "Jirachi, I'm counting on you for what comes next."
As for why it was lying on his head, you'd have to ask Eevee and Pikachu, his two great left and right guardians.
Jirachi flew up and circled the Soul Dew a couple of times. "Hmm... no problem. However, Ash, the aura of pollution on this orb is too severe. I need more Psychic-type power."
"Fine, I'll have Gardevoir and Mewtwo help you."
Ash released Mewtwo again.
"Gardevoir, Mewtwo, I'm counting on you."
"Gardevoir!" (Okay, Ash!)
Gardevoir and Mewtwo simultaneously channeled their Psychic-type power into the eye on Jirachi's stomach.
Seeing this, Latias and Latios also wanted to help, but Latios was stopped by Ash. Only Latias injected energy; after all, Luster Purge was Latios's signature move, and it needed to save its stamina and energy to use the move.
A few minutes later.
The eye on Jirachi's stomach opened completely, and Jirachi hurriedly shouted, "Alright, that's enough!"
"Jirachi, use your Psychic eye to boost Latios. Latios, just use Luster Purge with all your might on the Soul Dew," Ash said.
Under Jirachi's boost, Latios's level climbed rapidly, reaching the peak of a Secondary God in the blink of an eye.
As Latios released Luster Purge, a dazzling white light lit up the entire Grand Shrine.
The white light lasted for nearly a minute.
After the light dissipated, the aura of pollution on the Soul Dew also vanished, and the Soul Dew once again emitted a soft, white glow.
After purifying the Soul Dew, Ash took it off the machine, and Latios carried Ash back to the fountain in the garden.
Ash then carefully embedded the Soul Dew back into the groove below the fountain pool.
After the Soul Dew was embedded back, the stopped fountain resumed operation. Clear water sprayed out once again, and the scene in the garden was restored to its original state.
"Latios, Latias, do you want to leave Alto Mare?" Ash suddenly asked.
A glimmer of light flashed in Latias's eyes, and then she affectionately rubbed against Ash's cheek, almost diving into Ash's Poké Ball on her own.
Seeing his sister's expression, Latios's face immediately became troubled. It had witnessed Ash's ability; the boost that the Pokémon had just given it made it feel like it could go toe-to-toe with its own patriarch.
Following Ash would undoubtedly allow them to improve their strength faster, but the task set for them by the clan had not yet expired.
However, seeing that his sister was tempted, he simply decided to fulfill her wish. "Ash, my sister and I have the duty to protect Alto Mare. Our term of duty ends in less than two years, so I cannot leave with you for now, but my sister can."
Latias was stunned. "Brother."
"It's only two years. When someone from the clan comes, I will come to find you."
Latios said seriously, "Lord Ash, I leave my sister in your care!"
"Alright, I will take good care of her."
Ash was overjoyed. Less than two years—that would be before the Sinnoh League Conference. Latios would join his team, and the quality of his Legendary Pokémon team would be able to reach another level.
Tobias, get ready to welcome your darkest hour!
Hehehe~
As Latias entered Ash's Master Ball, the system's reward notification sounded.
"Ding, detected that the host has captured Latias. Obtained rewards: 80,000 points, 5 Rare Candies, 1 Latiasite, 1 Premium Soul Dew."
However, after entering the Poké Ball, Latias came out again very quickly and once again put on Bianca's skin.
After handling everything, Ash's group stayed in Alto Mare for a few more days before continuing their journey to the Mt. Silver reserve.
Gary slipped away on the afternoon of the day the incident ended, the reason naturally being that he didn't want to see Ash showing off his wealth anymore.
Come to think of it, Ash could almost field two teams of just Legendary Pokémon, while he only had three. If you count Mega Evolution, the gap was even wider, especially after seeing the super evolution stone worn by Latias; his mentality had already completely collapsed.
