Chapter 295 - Chapter 295: Treecko Forest

Chapter 295: Treecko Forest

After taking down Aaron, Ash and his group took the Team Rocket Trio to the Pokémon Center and handed them over to Nurse Joy for treatment.

In the end, Ash and the others didn't want Aaron's bounty, so they gave it to the Team Rocket Trio instead.

As for the Tyranitar in Aaron's possession, Jenny had actually intended to hand it over to Ash, but Ash merely said he would help the Tyranitar find a suitable Trainer and had no intention of using it himself.

[Pokémon: Tyranitar] [Type: Rock + Dark] [Gender: Female] [Level: Quasi-Elite Intermediate] [Ability: Sand Stream (When entering battle, the weather changes to Sandstorm)] [Potential: Champion] [Moves: Hyper Beam, Tackle, Dark Pulse, Payback, Rock Slide, Crunch, Earthquake...]

His own Pupitar was currently eating ore in the backyard of Professor Oaks Laboratory and was nearing its evolution stage, so getting another one didn't really have much meaning.

Of course, Ash did have a candidate in mind to take over this Tyranitar.

That was undoubtedly May.

After all, it was just a Quasi-Legendary Pokémon; compared to the Special manga era, May's absurd protagonist treatment was still far off.

If Ash remembered correctly, in his past life, he had seen a special edition where May had obtained a Rayquaza mega stone and even captured a Rayquaza.

Damn, by comparison, Ash felt that the Ash from the original work was just a lucky bystander; even counting all the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon he saw in the movies, he hadn't managed to catch a single one.

The only recorded one was Melmetal from the Alola region, but that was only captured thanks to Rowlet, and Solgaleo was never even put into a ball, so that didn't count at all.

However, Ash wouldn't give the Tyranitar to May too early; he still had to wait until May had grown and let her earn the Tyranitar's recognition through battle.

Or rather, create opportunities for May to take care of the Tyranitar, letting her slowly play the emotional card and let the Tyranitar accept its fate on its own.

...

After leaving the Pokémon Center, Ash and his group set off on their journey once again.

However... after entering a forest, they were lost again.

Brock scratched his head, looking a bit embarrassed as he said, "Hmm... if I'm not mistaken... we should, maybe, probably be lost again."

"Huh? How are we lost again!"

May looked at Brock with a confused expression.

"It can't be helped. At the last intersection, May, you said going this way would be interesting, and then we walked out of the signal reception range of the navigator..." Brock said.

"Uh..." > (._. ) <

May lowered her head and immediately fell silent.

"May, Brock didn't mean to blame you. Back when we used to travel, getting lost was already the norm. Don't worry, we'll always reach our destination in the end," Ash comforted.

"Really?" May wore a pitiful expression.

Brock nodded, "Of course it's true, otherwise we wouldn't have traveled to the Hoenn region."

"Anyway, as long as we keep walking forward, we'll eventually encounter a city after passing through the forest."

Suddenly, a green figure flashed across the trees.

Noticing the movement, Brock looked up abruptly.

He asked uncertainly, "Ash, that's a Treecko, right?"

"That's right, it's a Treecko, and there's more than one!"

No sooner had Ash finished speaking than several green figures darted across the trees.

As if noticing the three people's gazes, one Treecko stopped and stood on a tree branch, staring at them.

Subsequently, more Treecko stopped and poked their heads out to watch.

"Wow, there are so many Treecko!" May exclaimed.

Brock guessed, "Could this be the forest where they live?"

"It should be, anyway, I've sensed several hundred Treecko," Ash said.

Brock's expression froze instantly, "How about... we... just slowly back out?"

Ash waved his hand, "Don't worry, they are relatively docile and won't attack us proactively."

Sure enough, seeing that Ash and his group had no bad intentions, those Treecko ignored them.

"I've decided, I want to catch a Treecko," Ash said.

If he remembered correctly, the Hoenn powerhouse Sceptile that belonged to the Ash in the original work evolved from the cool guy Treecko caught in this very forest.

"Ah? But there are so many Treecko, if we're misunderstood by them, we'll probably be in a lot of trouble, right?"

May said worriedly.

"Don't worry, Ash knows what he's doing. May, you can also see if there's one suitable for you," Brock said.

Ash intended for May to obtain Aaron's Tyranitar; Brock knew about this. Since Treecko is a Grass-type Pokémon and has a type advantage over Tyranitar, Brock still suggested that May catch one.

May didn't notice Ash and the others' wishful thinking at all, but she had become interested in Pokémon battles and also wanted to catch a few more Pokémon.

So she nodded and said, "Alright then!"

Following the reaction of his Aura, Ash led May and Brock to the vicinity of a bare, towering tree.

May exclaimed, "That tree is so big!"

"I've found the Treecko I want to catch. May, there are many good Treecko in the forest over there; you can go try your luck there, and we'll meet up here later."

Having said that, Ash looked at Brock and said, "Brock, I'll leave May in your care for now."

Brock nodded, "Leave it to me, no problem."

Subsequently, right before May's astonished gaze, Ash slid down the slope.

"Ash..."

"May, don't worry, Ash will be fine on his own. Let's go check over there first," Brock said.

"Alright."

May walked in the direction Ash had pointed out for her.

...

Under the giant tree.

Looking at the towering tree before him, Ash felt a mix of emotions; he could feel that this tree had reached the end of its life.

Up in the tree, a Treecko holding a small twig in its mouth, seeing Ash and his group approaching the big tree, spat out the twig it was holding.

[Pokémon: Treecko] [Type: Grass] [Gender: Male] [Level: Elite Intermediate] [Ability: Overgrow (When HP is low, the power of Grass-type moves increases)] [Potential: Champion] [Moves: Pound, Glare, Razor Leaf, Quick Attack, Mega Drain...]

"Pika?"

Pikachu noticed the attack coming and jumped up, swatting the twig away with its tail.

Seeing this, the Treecko spat out several more twigs in succession.

After Pikachu blocked them one by one, the Treecko jumped back and forth on the tree a few times, then leaped down, attempting to swat Pikachu away with its tail.

"Pikachu, since it wants to play, you should keep it company and play along," Ash laughed.

"Pika!"

Pikachu nodded, then gestured with its finger in a provocative manner.

How could the Treecko have ever endured such a provocation? It launched another Pound at Pikachu.

It twisted its body, adding kinetic energy to that powerful tail, and swung at Pikachu.

Pikachu was not flustered at all; it braced its tail against the ground, launched itself upward to dodge the Pound, and while doing so, gently tapped the Treecko on the forehead with its tail.

Being tapped like this, the Treecko instantly lost its balance, taking several steps before it could readjust.

"Pika" (Continue)

After landing, Pikachu continued to provoke the Treecko.
