Chapter 297: Seviper
After capturing Treecko, Ash's group set off on their journey again, with their first destination being Rustboro City.
Today, they were enjoying lunch in a forest somewhere.
After Brock was busy for a while, he made a pot of fragrant soup, "It's time to eat!"
"Alright! Torchic, Treecko, time to eat!"
"Forretress, you come out too!"
"Everyone, come out too."
The three of them released their respective Pokemon.
This was also Ash's first time seeing May's Treecko, and he looked it over with some curiosity.

"May, Torchic hasn't experienced much yet, so there's no need to demand too much of it. This guy, Pikachu, was captured by me in the forest when I was ten. After all these years, it's only natural for it to be steady," Ash said.
Just then, a 'rustling' sound came from the nearby bushes. The movement was very slight, but it was still discovered by Treecko on the tree.

Seeing its lunch being eaten, Torchic immediately confronted the snake.
However, the snake's eyes narrowed. It was too late when Torchic realized something was wrong. Just as Torchic was about to be attacked, a twig shot out, and Treecko followed, stepping on the snake's head and performing a backflip to land beside Torchic.
Treecko and the snake didn't like each other, and a battle was imminent. They charged at each other simultaneously, but Treecko underestimated the snake's sneakiness. It dodged past Treecko and charged straight at Torchic.
"Torchic!"
Torchic's cry of pain attracted the attention of the others.
When Ash and the others got closer, they found that Torchic was being tossed around by the snake's tail.
"Stop! What are you doing to my Torchic?" May demanded.
"That is a Seviper, a Pokemon with an extremely nasty temperament," Ash cautioned.

Perhaps because the level difference was too great, Treecko's Pound didn't knock Seviper out. Seviper was also pushed to its limit and used the move Poison Tail against Treecko.
Ash said, "Pikachu, use Iron Tail to teach it a lesson."
"Pika!"
Pikachu nodded. He used Iron Tail at top speed to block Seviper's attack, followed by a ruthless lashing, and finally sent Seviper flying into the sky with one tail swipe.
Ash looked at Treecko and asked, "Treecko, are you okay?"
