"Lyra said you liked a specific kind of duck they made around here."
Aris turned to look around, still looking confused as ever.
"That was all the way in the pink district."
She turned to look at the warehouse too, proud that she had managed to one up him this time.
"Come."
Aris fell into a comfortable stride behind her as she led him towards the warehouse, there was a plain metal door set into the warehouse wall with no signage and no indication that it led anywhere worth going.
She held the door for him, walking in behind him once he had stepped through.
The interior was nothing like the exterior. Low warm lighting, small tables set well apart from each other, the kind of spacing that meant conversations stayed where they were put. The ceiling was the original warehouse structure, exposed beams wrapped in lights that threw everything amber and gold. It smelled like something cooking that justified the half-hour drive entirely.
Aris looked at it.
