Chapter 29 - Chapter Twenty Eight:Everyone Has a Price

The mansion was quiet, but Celestia felt no peace.

Not after the chains. Not after the Void's tendrils. Not after Heaven's attempt at control. Not after Lilith's revelation.

Her hands trembled slightly as she walked through the grand hall. The chandeliers shimmered faintly, as if even the mansion sensed the tension.

Then a soft sound reached her ears—a familiar, delicate sound, like wind over silver bells.

The white unicorn materialized before her, radiant even in the dim light. Its mane glimmered like falling starlight, and its eyes were wise and unyielding.

"Celestia," the unicorn spoke—not in sound, but directly into her mind.

She took a step back. "You… again?"

"I am always with you," it said, its voice calm yet heavy. "But this is not a visitation of comfort."

Celestia felt a shiver crawl up her spine. "Then what is it?"

The unicorn lowered its head, horn nearly touching her chest. "Not everyone wants what is best for you. The Void seeks to claim your power, Heaven seeks to control it, Lilith seeks to exploit it, and Lucifer… has his own interest in how you balance realms."

Celestia's heartbeat quickened. "So no one is… truly an ally?"

The unicorn shook its mane. "Allies exist. But you must judge carefully. Only one among them carries no hidden agenda."

Celestia's gaze narrowed. "Who?"

"Lucien," it replied softly. "He will die before he allows harm to come to you. Every other being… even those who claim protection… have motives you cannot fully see."

Her chest tightened. Every revelation from Lilith, every attack from the Void, every decree from Heaven—they had all been part of a game.

"And the Void?" she asked. "It… knows about me already."

"Yes," the unicorn said gravely. "It wants to reshape you, but it cannot yet touch the bond you have chosen with him. Trust will be your shield. But be careful. Love is your strength… and also your greatest vulnerability."

That night, the Void stirred again—not as a threat, but as a negotiator. Its tendrils swirled at the edge of the celestial tear.

Celestia, it whispered. I can reveal your origin. You are not what you believe.

Celestia's eyes narrowed, aura flaring defensively. "I don't need your lies to know who I am."

Lies? it hissed. Everything you were told was partial. The truth could grant you power beyond comprehension… or destroy everything you love.

The unicorn nudged her gently. Do not listen. Answers given freely are almost always traps.

Celestia closed her eyes. Lucien's face came to her mind. The trust in him. His unwavering protection.

"Not now," she whispered to the Void. "You do not decide when I learn my truth."

Far beyond, Lilith observed the exchange through the shifting shadows. "Clever girl," she murmured. "Not even the Void can sway her… yet."

Beelzebub growled lowly, wings twitching. "And yet, she grows more dangerous with every passing hour."

Even Lucifer, hovering between realms, chuckled softly. "So predictable… yet utterly fascinating."

Celestia exhaled, stepping into the moonlight. She glanced at the unicorn.

"Then I trust only one," she said firmly.

The unicorn's horn glimmered faintly in affirmation. "Wise. And necessary."

Her hands glowed with living Balance. She was ready—not to fight recklessly, but to survive strategically.

Because now she knew the truth: in this war of gods, demons, and the Void… everyone has a price.

And she would ensure that no one would pay with her life.

The Void hissed faintly, retreating into the tear for now, but not gone. Lilith's calculating gaze lingered. Lucifer's amusement simmered. Heaven whispered suspicion.

Only Lucien remained unshaken—and Celestia knew she could rely on him completely.

But the war had only just begun…
