Chapter 100 - Chapter Ninety Nine: Movements in the Dark

Dawn had barely touched the sky when the palace war chamber filled again.

News traveled faster now.

Faster than anyone had predicted.

Naamah stood at the center of the chamber with her arms crossed, studying the enormous map spread across the stone table. Colored markings had multiplied overnight—kingdoms declaring positions, territories shifting allegiances, and several regions marked with uncertain symbols.

Uncertain was never a good sign.

Around her, advisors murmured in tense voices.

Then the chamber doors opened.

Lucien entered first.

His presence alone silenced the room.

Celestia followed him a moment later, her expression calm but watchful. The faint glow of her power seemed slightly stronger this morning, though none of the advisors dared mention it.

Naamah glanced at them.

"Good. You're both here."

Lucien stepped toward the table.

"What changed overnight?"

Naamah slid a parchment toward him.

"Everything."

Lucien scanned the document quickly. His expression hardened.

"Heaven is already moving forces."

Celestia leaned slightly closer.

"Where?"

Naamah pointed to several regions on the map.

"Border sanctuaries. Neutral territories. Places that refuse to openly choose a side."

Celestia frowned.

"They're trying to control the middle ground."

"Exactly," Naamah replied.

Lucien placed the parchment down.

"They want to isolate us."

Naamah nodded.

"And make it look like they're protecting the realms from you."

Celestia let out a quiet breath.

"Fear is still their strongest weapon."

Before the conversation could continue, another voice echoed through the chamber.

"And it always has been."

A portal of dark crimson light opened near the far wall.

From it stepped Lucifer.

Behind him followed Beelzebub.

Naamah rolled her eyes slightly.

"You really need to stop appearing like that."

Lucifer smiled pleasantly.

"But it's so effective."

Lucien folded his arms.

"What do you want this time?"

Lucifer walked slowly toward the map.

"I came with news."

Beelzebub placed a heavy scroll onto the table.

Lucien recognized the seal immediately.

"The demon lords."

Lucifer nodded.

"They've reached a consensus."

Celestia studied him carefully.

"And?"

Lucifer looked at her.

"Hell will not support Heaven's declaration."

Naamah smirked.

"Well that was obvious."

Lucifer raised a finger.

"However…"

Lucien sighed.

"There's always a condition."

Lucifer chuckled softly.

"They simply wish to observe how the situation develops."

Celestia narrowed her eyes slightly.

"They're waiting to see who wins."

Lucifer shrugged.

"Let's call it strategic patience."

Before anyone could respond, the chamber doors opened again.

This time the Spirit Guide entered.

Her appearance immediately changed the atmosphere of the room.

The advisors stepped back instinctively.

She rarely appeared unless something significant had happened.

Celestia turned toward her.

"You felt it too."

The Spirit Guide nodded.

"The disturbance last night."

Lucien frowned.

"What disturbance?"

Celestia hesitated.

Then she answered carefully.

"Something reacted to the child."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow.

"That sounds ominous."

The Spirit Guide stepped closer to the table.

"The heir of Balance is beginning to resonate with ancient forces."

Lucien's voice lowered.

"What kind of forces?"

The Spirit Guide looked toward Celestia.

"Older than Heaven."

The room fell silent.

Naamah broke it first.

"That's not exactly comforting."

Celestia remained quiet.

Her thoughts drifted briefly back to the forest.

To the unicorn.

To the ancient sword waiting somewhere in the past.

But she still kept that secret to herself.

For now.

Lucien noticed her silence.

"What are you thinking?"

Celestia shook her head slightly.

"That time is running out."

Lucifer smiled faintly.

"Yes. It usually does."

Before anyone could respond, a sudden burst of dark energy erupted across the chamber.

A small portal ripped open violently near the ceiling.

Everyone turned instantly.

A demonic messenger crashed through the opening, landing heavily on the floor.

Beelzebub stepped forward immediately.

"What happened?"

The messenger struggled to his knees.

"My king… there's movement in the lower realms."

Lucifer's expression shifted slightly.

"What kind of movement?"

The messenger swallowed.

"Azael."

Naamah groaned.

"Oh wonderful."

Lucien frowned.

"I thought Beelzebub was watching him."

Beelzebub's voice remained calm.

"I was."

The messenger continued nervously.

"He's gathering followers… old war factions from the first infernal conflicts."

Lucifer's eyes darkened slightly.

"And why would he do that?"

The messenger lowered his voice.

"He believes the coming war will break the current balance of power in Hell."

Naamah scoffed.

"Of course he does."

Lucien leaned over the table.

"So he wants to take advantage of the chaos."

"Yes," the messenger replied.

Lucifer tapped his fingers slowly against the table.

"Ambitious."

Celestia spoke quietly.

"He's preparing for the aftermath."

Lucifer looked at her with interest.

"Exactly."

The Spirit Guide suddenly turned toward the window.

Her expression sharpened.

Celestia noticed immediately.

"What is it?"

The Spirit Guide's voice lowered.

"They're watching."

Lucien's eyes narrowed.

"Who?"

The Spirit Guide spoke one word.

"The Architects."

A deep silence filled the chamber.

Even Lucifer stopped smiling.

Because if the ancient Architects had begun observing events again—

Then the conflict unfolding across the realms had already grown far larger than Heaven, Hell, or even Balance itself.

And somewhere far beyond the present…

ancient forces were beginning to decide whether this new world deserved to survive.
