Chapter 13 - chapter 13 : the prey and the hunter

The adventurer, known as Jack, licked his lips with anticipation, a cruel smile on his face.

"Ah, there it is," he murmured, following the light that led him to his prey.

The forest was silent. The only sounds were the cracking of branches under his feet and the faint murmur of the blue light.

In just a few minutes, the light stopped, pointing toward a tree above which a silhouette was hiding. Jack smiled, his gaze fixed on the tree, his saber ready to strike.

"I've found you, monster," he murmured.

Then he started climbing the tree with surprising agility.

The silhouette—Joel—didn't move, as if he already knew his fate was sealed.

He was breathing heavily because of his wound.

As Jack reached Joel, he thought,

I'm going to let him kill me without lifting a finger.

To see how powerful his curse really is.

Meanwhile, Joel was frightened.

"I don't want to die," he whispered.

Then he turned his gaze toward Jack, and the two stared at each other, eyes locked.

Blood began to flow from Jack's ears and from his eyes.

He smiled maliciously.

Interesting.

Then he removed his saber and pierced his own heart with it.

Joel was confused by what Jack had just done. But Jack grabbed Joel's face, and the two of them fell from the tree.

When they reached the ground, Jack stood up. A strange pressure radiated from his body as he said,

"Do you think you're the only one who made a pact with a demon?"

Suddenly, he threw a heavy punch into Joel's face, sending him several meters away.

Then Jack slowly pulled the saber out of his pierced heart. His blood splashed onto the ground.

It was the first time someone had survived the power of Joel's eyes for that long.

Jack's body started trembling as the hunter approached his prey.

"I've already cheated death many times. No… I've been dead. But you know what? Your power is really very interesting. I want it."

Suddenly, he vomited blood.

His heart stopped.

And he fell to the ground.

At that moment, Joel lay on the ground, confused.

He didn't understand what had just happened or why Jack had done that.

I feel pain.

I'm exhausted.

He vomited blood.

He felt weak and powerless, unable to move or react.

The silence of the forest was oppressive, broken only by the sound of his heavy breathing and the slowing beats of his heart.

He closed his eyes, waiting for it all to be over.
