Chapter 106 - Ruined Plan

"What is that sound?" Victoria was confused as a loud crashing sound approached her.

She looked over to her left and saw a huge wolf coming straight at her.

A look of surprise appeared on her face.

What in the… is that?

She jumped backwards, but it was too late, she was too caught off guard.

A claw slashed across her face, making a white mark across her cheek.

She felt disoriented as she flew through the woods, crashing through a tree.

Why didn't my ability work?

Victoria was even more confused as to why her ability didn't work.

What she didn't know was that her ability did work.

And the safest route to safety was past this wolf.

So it wasn't that there was no danger, just that the danger was less than the alternatives.

The wolf bared its fangs and ran towards her.

Victoria distanced herself from it, she needed to regroup.

The wolf slowed down and started to circle her, it was looking for the best way to attack.

Victoria knew this, she also knew that three vampires were closing in behind.

She needed to get out of here as soon as possible.

The best way would be to pit this wolf against those vampires to create distance.

She felt that the idea was increasingly feasible.

The wolf on the other hand didn't have as many thoughts.

It just wanted to kill this vampire who had broken into their land.

It pounced forward with its maw first, intending to bite the vampire.

Victoria snapped back but was too slow.

The wolf bit down on her arm, and then started to shake its head and growl.

"Let go! Damn you!"

Victoria raised her right hand and slammed it down on the wolf's nose.

The wolf let out a whimper and threw Victoria straight into a tree.

Victoria crawled up to a standing position and looked at her hand.

There were white marks from the wolf's teeth with cracks spreading outward from them.

"Damn! How is this possible, some damn dog can injure me?"

Victoria raised her head and locked eyes with the wolf on the other side.

Silence filled the atmosphere for a second, then the wolf let out a growl and pounced.

"Damn!"

Victoria dived to the side in a desperate attempt to evade.

But the wolf was faster and in a better position.

It bit down on her leg and learning from past experiences threw her quickly.

She crashed through another tree before smashing into the wet soft dirt.

She looked like a vagrant who had just climbed out of a dirt igloo.

The wolf walked towards her with its teeth bared.

It was going to kill this cold one.

Victoria watched the wolf come closer and closer with an expression of fear.

She never thought this wolf would be this strong.

Without a second thought, she leaped up and started to run, just then she hear something.

She looked to the left and saw Gregor walk out of the forest.

James was still flung over his shoulder.

Victoria saw James and her eyes widened.

He was so close… yet so far away.

She knew that she couldn't defeat Gregor, especially not in her current condition.

The wolf saw another cold one appear, and got serious.

He immediately thought that they were part of the same group.

He let out a low growl and pounced on Gregor.

Gregor realized too late.

He was too focused on Victoria which he had just found.

When he saw her, a thousand thoughts of how he was going to show off in front of Viktor and Cessian came to mind.

And how Silas would praise him.

He was already eating his cake piece, even though it hadn't even been cut yet.

Victoria on the other hand was somber.

She immediately saw the wolf's misunderstanding and jumped on it.

She looked at Gregor and yelled.

"You've come to help me!? Please, this wolf will kill me!"

Gregor snapped out of his reverie as the wolf caught the side of his head.

He held onto James hard as they were both thrown by the wolf.

He smashed through a tree and landed in the mud.

His feet sank down to his ankle, and before he could properly position himself, the wolf's claw was already at his face.

He dodged to the side, but it was too late.

The claw strike sent him tumbling through the air.

But who was he? He was Gregor!

He made a somersault in the air and gripped the trunk of a tree with his hand, and in his other hand, James was held tightly.

But Gregor was too focused on something else.

Victoria! Where did she go!?

He looked over at the wolf who was moving towards him.

"You damn dog! I was chasing her, and now she's gone!"

The wolf stopped for a second and looked over to the place Victoria had been.

It was empty. No surprise.

The wolf was confused, weren't these accomplices?

Gregor saw the wolf's confusion and took the chance to pounce.

The wolf saw a dark shadow approach in his periphery.

But it was too late.

Gregor's foot landed right on his jaw.

A loud ringing sound in his head accompanied by a sharp pain struck.

The wolf took a few steps to the side, it steadied itself and pounced.

But… it was all for naught.

The kick had been too strong.

The wolf walked like a drunken sailor, and missed Gregor completely, rushing head first into a tree instead.

Gregor walked up to the wolf, and towered over him.

The wolf looked up at him with resentment on his face.

Gregor smiled as he raised his foot.

"Nighty-night, little doggy."

The foot magnified infinitely in the wolf's eyes, and it crashed down on its cranium.

Gregor took a step back, and looked at the wolf.

"Fucking dogs, you smell like ass, and you fucked up our plans… and my praise!"

Gregor was most upset that he wouldn't be able to show off in front of Cessian and Viktor, and receive praise from Silas.

Just then Viktor arrived.

"Where's Victoria!?"

Gregor looked over at him and scratched his head embarrassedly.

"She escaped."
