It was raining outside when they finally retreated indoors, wrapped together under the covers.
They lay in the warmth of the bed, cocooned from the cold damp world outside. Czar held her close, her cheek pressed against his chest, comforted by the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
His fingers were gentle and absentminded as they threaded through her hair, sometimes tracing lazy circles along her arm. Roseanne was still a bit dazed and dizzy, the remnants of alcohol making her limbs heavy and her mind a little foggy.
"Kaden must be worried," she murmured, her thoughts drifting to her son as she snuggled closer.
"I already put him to bed before picking you up," Czar replied.
She blinked, turning her face up to look at him in confusion. "You what?"
He smiled slightly at her reaction, his touch light as he tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I put him to bed, sweetheart."
