Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: System [2]

The quiet of the morning settled over the ruined bedroom. Shen Yu remained seated against the splintered headboard, letting his mind fully process the depths of his new reality.

He ran a hand through his hair. Even before his awakening, his hair had been stark white and his eyes a piercing, demonic gold, traits that had always set him apart. But now, as the morning sun caught the strands falling over his shoulders, he noticed the subtle transformation. The flat white had evolved into a striking, iridescent silver, shimmering like liquid moonlight with every movement.

Closing his eyes, he delved deeper into the intricate details of the knowledge the system had just unlocked. He needed to know the exact parameters of his new arsenal.

First was the Celestial Fox Veil. The ability was a masterclass in deception, but his newly integrated memories revealed its absolute limit: the disguise was flawless, but it could only fool cultivators up to two major realms above his own. Currently at the third level of Qi Condensation, he could perfectly deceive anyone up to the Foundation Establishment and Core Formation realms.

But if a Nascent Soul ancestor were to scrutinize him, the illusion would shatter. It was a fair restriction, and it simply meant he had to scheme intelligently and avoid drawing the gaze of absolute monsters until he grew stronger.

Next was Heaven's Charm. As he studied the passive trait, he realized it wasn't a spell he had to cast, it was an ever-present, intoxicating aura woven into his very being. It exuded a faint, subliminal scent and a magnetic psychological gravity. Anyone who stood near him would inexplicably find him trustworthy, amiable, and easy to befriend.

While it worked on men to lower their guard, its effect on the opposite gender was devastating. Women would naturally find their logical defenses melting away in his presence, their favor turning into desire with terrifying ease. He noted that this ability shared the exact same two-realm restriction as the Fox Veil.

Then there was the Primordial Genesis Seed. The sheer, heaven-defying nature of this ability bordered on the absurd. To awaken supreme bloodlines within women simply by injecting his purified Yang essence... it was a concept that left even a four-hundred-year-old demonic grandmaster profoundly fascinated.

Having walked the Blood Path in his previous life, Shen Yu understood the agonizing difficulty of bloodline awakening. He knew the hidden truth of the cultivation world: every mortal carried an ancient lineage. But over countless epochs, those bloodlines had become infinitely diluted, reduced to microscopic fractions of a percent within their veins. Without a supreme catalyst, igniting such a minuscule trace was fundamentally impossible.

Yet now, his own primal essence served as that exact, miraculous catalyst. He possessed the literal power of creation, capable of forging peerless geniuses with his body alone. It was simply mind-bending.

Finally, he reviewed the Blood-Hand Demonic Arts. This was not a gift from the system, but the bloody culmination of his own 400-year-old soul. It contained the visceral knowledge of the Blood Path he had walked in his previous life. Within his mind sat a vast library of martial techniques he had personally created and stolen; absolute mastery over human and beast anatomy; and unparalleled medical and alchemical expertise.

But most importantly, it contained his knowledge of torture. Shen Yu knew exactly which nerves to sever, which acupoints to stimulate, and which alchemical concoctions to brew to keep a victim alive and completely conscious while experiencing an eternity of unimaginable, mind-shattering agony. It was the knowledge that had earned him the title of Grandmaster, and he was eager to employ it again.

"Mnn..."

A soft, raspy groan broke Shen Yu from his dark reverie.

He opened his golden eyes and looked down. Lixue was shifting in the tangle of torn silk, her long eyelashes fluttering against her pale cheeks. As she slowly opened her deep blue eyes, blinking against the morning light, Shen Yu's calculating, demonic expression softened entirely.

He looked at her with a profound, possessive love. She was his fiercely loyal partner, the woman who had stood by a crippled boy, and the sword that had helped forge his new foundation.

"Good morning," Shen Yu whispered gently, reaching out to brush a stray strand of black hair from her face. "How are you feeling, Lixue?"

Lixue blinked, her mind still catching up to the overwhelming events of the night. "Yu'er... I feel... strange. Light, but incredibly heavy at the same time." She pushed herself up slightly, the silk sheet slipping to reveal her perfectly toned shoulders.

Then, she paused. Her eyes widened, the pupils briefly flashing with that terrifying azure light. She looked down at her hands, sensing the latent, razor-sharp aura humming within her veins.

"My blood..." she gasped. "It feels like countless blades are sleeping inside me."

"You awakened the Ancient Sword Sovereign bloodline," Shen Yu smiled warmly, his thumb tracing her jawline. "Your absolute devotion catalyzed the energy we shared. But look deeper, Lixue. Check your Dantian."

Following his instruction, Lixue closed her eyes and directed her senses inward. A second later, her breath hitched violently. Her eyes snapped open, wide with utter disbelief.

"Heavens..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "Yu'er, my cultivation! I was only at the seventh level of Qi Condensation yesterday. Now... my Qi pool is overflowing. I am at the absolute peak of Qi Condensation! I'm half a step into Foundation Establishment!"

To jump from the seventh level to the peak in a single night was a miracle that would make the geniuses of the Great Sects cough up blood in envy. She was completely flabbergasted, staring at Shen Yu as if he were a descending god.

"The benefits of the Primordial Yin-Yang Inheritance," Shen Yu explained, his voice low and soothing. "When we dual cultivate, the energy doesn't just heal me; it purifies and elevates you in return. As long as you are with me, your strength will soar."

Lixue threw her arms around his neck, burying her face into his chest. "Yu'er, this is incredible. With this power, we don't have to be afraid anymore!"

Shen Yu embraced her, but his golden eyes turned sharp and calculating over her shoulder. He gently pulled her back, holding her by the shoulders so she was forced to meet his serious gaze.

"Lixue, listen to me," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. "This power is incredible, but it is also a death sentence if exposed prematurely. You must keep the Sword Sovereign bloodline an absolute secret."

Lixue frowned slightly in confusion. "But why? If the city knows I have an ancient bloodline, no one would dare touch the Shen Clan."

"If the city knows," Shen Yu corrected her darkly, "the local clans might fear you, but the worldly forces, the Great Sects, and the Liu Clan who massacred our family, will immediately hunt us down to either enslave you or dissect you. We are only at the Qi Condensation realm. We are not yet powerful enough to contend against true monsters."

Realization dawned on Lixue's face, and she nodded quickly, her fierce protectiveness returning. "You're right. I was foolish. But... how do I hide something this powerful?"

"Awakened bloodlines of a high tier possess a natural concealment mechanism," Shen Yu explained, drawing upon the vast knowledge of his demonic past. "Unless you actively summon the overwhelming Sword Aura, the bloodline will retract deeply into your marrow. To the outside world, and even to probing elders, you will just appear to be a highly talented peak Qi Condensation cultivator. Nothing more."

He cupped her cheek, his Heaven's Charm making her heart race as he looked deeply into her eyes.

"To the world, you are still my fiercely protective sister, Mei Lixue. Your sword will remain sheathed in the shadows until the day I give the command. And when that day comes..." Shen Yu's lips curled into a terrifying, bloodthirsty smile. "...we will let them drown in it."
