Chapter 50
Drum Island (3)
Arthur stood in the sky, suspended between the earth and the void.
The cold air brushed against his body with a strange calmness, as if nature itself had paused in respect for the moment.
At that instant, Arthur looked like a great ruler who had descended from the heavens to deliver his final judgment upon mankind.
He needed no complicated movements, no shouting or threats.
All he did…
was raise his right hand.
And press.
His power gathered within his arm, then compressed entirely into his palm.
In the next moment, the sky trembled violently.
The falling snow vanished suddenly,
the clouds were torn apart,
and the color of the sky disappeared,
as if space itself had begun to erode.
Then…
A colossal palm appeared high in the heavens.
A massive, dark palm whose size could not be described,
as though the hand of a god had decided to bring an end to everything.
Arthur smiled calmly, a smile devoid of mercy.
"Heavenly Judgment."
He spoke the two words in a steady voice.
And in the next instant…
The Heavenly Judgment descended.
Hearts trembled,
bodies froze,
and in that moment everyone realized they had chosen the wrong target…
and that they had played with the wrong person.
The men tried to flee,
but they found themselves restrained,
bound beneath the pressure of the Sky Devil's aura of death,
under the terror of the Heavenly Judgment.
Within mere moments…
Humanity was crushed beneath the gigantic palm.
Arthur pressed down upon the humans beneath it without mercy,
erasing them from existence,
without pity, without hesitation, without the slightest trace of compassion.
And at the very moment the Heavenly Judgment descended,
Arthur felt something strange.
A sensation…
as if some force were pushing him out of this world.
A sharp contradiction struck against his magic and his power,
as though the world itself rejected his presence,
as though it was trying to expel him.
Arthur did not understand what that feeling was.
And it was not the time to think about it.
He ignored it.
He looked down.
The icy plateau had completely disappeared…
along with everyone who had stood upon it.
Arthur descended calmly beside Luffy and Zoro.
Both of them were stunned by the power they had just witnessed,
but…
they were happy as well.
Arthur wasted no time.
He immediately turned and entered Nami's room.
Her condition was unchanged:
holding on… but barely.
As for Vivi,
she was on the brink of death.
Arthur said it in a deadly calm voice:
"I don't think Vivi can last until we find a doctor."
A heavy silence fell.
Arthur sighed, then raised his head and looked at the crew.
"Everyone, listen carefully and focus."
He began listing what he needed in a steady voice:
a surgical needle,
thread,
hot sterilized water,
tweezers,
and several other tools.
Luffy was the first to speak, his voice anxious.
"Arthur… can you really do it?"
Arthur smiled.
Then he removed his kimono and shirt.
His muscular body was revealed,
covered with scars and old wounds:
bullet wounds in the shoulder,
in the chest,
in the arm,
in the abdomen…
everywhere.
He pointed to his body and said calmly:
"Do you know who removed all these bullets from my body?"
Silence filled the room.
"Me."
That was his answer.
It was clear:
removing the bullet from Vivi's chest was not the problem.
The only problem…
was whether Vivi could endure the pain.
Arthur was a hardened man,
his will like unbreakable iron.
Even the bullet that had nearly pierced his heart—
he had removed it himself and endured.
But Vivi…
could she endure?
Everyone moved immediately at Luffy's command.
Sanji and Usopp began carefully cleaning the room,
placing a clean cloth barrier around Vivi and Arthur
to isolate the area.
They carried Vivi and placed her on a clean bed.
Sanji and Usopp stepped outside,
then Luffy and Zoro entered.
They were carrying the tools Arthur had requested,
which they had previously found inside Wapol's massive submarine,
which had been filled with medical supplies.
Arthur's only regret…
was that he had not explored the submarine more thoroughly.
Zoro and Luffy placed the tools on a clean table.
"Zoro, guard the door.
Don't let anyone enter no matter what happens."
Zoro nodded and stepped outside.
"Luffy, watch the surroundings.
Don't let the ship move even an inch.
Any vibration could kill Vivi.
And if a fight breaks out… move away from the ship."
Luffy smiled confidently and left.
Arthur sighed,
carefully washed his hands,
sterilized them,
then put on gloves and a medical mask.
And began the operation.
---
Outside,
Zoro stood before the door like a silent wall.
Sanji approached every few moments,
looking…
then stepping back.
Usopp watched the area from the top of the ship.
And Luffy sat at the bow,
his eyes alert.
Then suddenly…
A scream.
A scream of torn agony.
It was Vivi's scream.
Sanji rushed forward,
but Zoro stopped him.
Sanji shouted angrily,
but Zoro cut him off sharply:
"And what will you do if you go in?
You won't be able to do anything.
Arthur is the only one here who knows medicine, even a little.
He's the only one capable of saving her now.
If you go in, you'll only ruin the sterilization and break his concentration.
Wait… like everyone else."
Sanji had no answer.
The truth was harsh.
He waited.
Time passed…
Fifteen minutes.
Half an hour.
A full hour.
Then…
The door opened.
Arthur stepped out.
His hands were covered in blood,
his features exhausted,
his body drained.
He took a deep breath and said with a tired smile:
"My God… even after fighting Cthulhu I wasn't this tired."
Then he looked at them.
"The operation succeeded."
He raised his hand
and pulled a bullet from his pocket.
Joy exploded across everyone's faces.
Arthur spoke calmly, reassuringly:
"Vivi is lucky.
The bullet didn't hit any vital organ.
It only entered the muscle and didn't pass completely through her body.
She survived."
Then he added:
"Now…
all we have to do is wait."
