Chapter 58
Crossing the Broken Bridge (4)
Arthur finally stood after making his decision.
He extended his hand, gripped the Tyrant King's Sword tightly, then turned toward Kim Dokja.
Dokja's expression was still rigid, a mixture of shock and disbelief.
His mind had not stopped turning for minutes.
'How…?
How did he become this much stronger in just a few minutes?
How many coins does he have to achieve such a transformation?
And all of this… while we are still in the first scenario.'
Dokja clenched his fist without realizing it.
'There are still dozens of scenarios ahead of us…
and he reached this level at the very beginning.'
He raised his head and stared at Arthur.
'Who is this person?
Why can't I find any mention of him in the novel?'
He had tried earlier to read his personal window, just as he did with others.
With characters not mentioned in the novel, it would always show:
You cannot read this person's information in the character list.
As for the characters mentioned… all their information was laid bare before him.
But Arthur…
His thoughts stopped abruptly.
'Every time I try to see his information… an unbelievable force appears.
As though a colossal, absolute wall is protecting him.
A wall that cannot be pierced by any means.'
Dokja unconsciously extended his hand into the air.
'Who are you really… Arthur?'
To Kim Dokja—
the man who had spent his life reading Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World—
he knew every character in the novel.
The main ones, the secondary ones, even those who appeared for a single line and then vanished.
But someone like Arthur…
had never existed.
The carriage Arthur came out of…
was supposed to explode at the hands of a mad criminal.
That was what the novel said.
And that was what Dokja knew for certain.
But now…
two people had survived from that carriage.
And one of them… was Arthur.
Dokja came back to himself at the constellations' notifications.
{The Constellation Demon-Like Judge of Fire is looking at you}
{The Constellation Prisoner of the Golden Headband is looking at you and smiling}
Then another notification appeared.
A constellation whose name he had never seen before.
{The Constellation Miracle Narrator smiles at your confusion and doubt}
Dokja's eyes widened.
'Miracle Narrator?
Who is that?
Neither he… nor the Secretive Plotter… was mentioned in the novel.
And how did he know that I was doubting?
And how did he know that my confusion was about Arthur?'
At that moment, Arthur had finished distributing his energy.
He stood straight, his body radiating power, the Tyrant King's Sword in his hand.
He suddenly turned.
He noticed movement coming toward them.
"Dokja…"
he said it with quiet lethality.
"It seems your little friend has arrived."
And at that same moment—
the monster he had been waiting for appeared.
The Ichthyosaur.
A massive aquatic beast, its eyes shining with hostility.
Arthur smiled.
"And it seems my friend has arrived as well."
He struck the ground with his foot.
And launched himself forward.
His body vanished in an instant.
Before the monster could realize what was happening, Arthur had already reached the level of its eye.
He raised his sword—
and struck.
A muffled scream made the air tremble.
Arthur pressed against the air beneath his feet and soared high, then caught the sword in his left hand and tightened his right fist.
He descended.
Like a meteor.
The monster's head slammed into the bridge, and a small part of it shattered beneath the Ichthyosaur.
The beast opened its one good eye, and it filled with rage and madness.
It opened its mouth, ready to unleash a water attack—
But Arthur was faster.
He jumped.
From the bridge…
to the monster's head…
then back into the sky once more.
He raised his sword high.
And in that moment, Arthur unleashed his spiritual power.
His hand was coated in Armament Haki.
It turned a pitch black.
Then the Haki spread to the sword itself.
He spun in the air.
And drove forward.
Like a black fan.
Spin—
slash—
another spin—
rend.
The Ichthyosaur's head began to distort, to break apart, until it lost its shape completely.
Then—
the massive body fell onto the bridge.
Dead.
Arthur landed beside the mangled head.
He was panting.
His body was covered in blood.
His sword was dripping.
He stood only barely, clinging to his breath.
But before he could regain his balance—
the sound of impact.
He lifted his head.
And saw—
that arrogant bastard.
He was holding Kim Dokja by the neck…
then threw him brutally toward the other Ichthyosaur.
Arthur froze in place.
It was true that he had only known Dokja for a very short time…
but in this fallen world—
where humans had turned into monsters—
Kim Dokja
was the first sane person,
and the first good human being,
to stand before him.
He had not forgotten how he saved Yi Shun.
If he had crossed the bridge…
the child would have remained here.
And who knew what might have happened to him.
Arthur's anger rose.
He looked at the arrogant man with a murderous gaze.
At that moment—
Yoo Joonghyuk felt a terrifying aura.
An aura of pure killing intent.
He turned quickly.
And froze.
He had met him before.
He was weak.
Insignificant in his eyes.
But now—
this "weakling"
had killed the Ichthyosaur alone.
This "weakling"
had grown stronger in an irrational way.
And this "weakling"
was raising a killing aura…
directly in his face.
