Chapter 8 - staying with a girl-1

The Next Morning…

Morning arrived quietly, the pale light of dawn slipping through the curtains. Half-asleep and still lost in dreams, Aarshi rubbed her eyes and slowly rose from the bed, her steps unsteady as she headed toward the washroom. But midway through the sleepy walk, reality struck her mind like a sudden jolt.

This… wasn't her house.

A faint uneasiness crept into her chest.

She stepped out of the room and glanced around the silent hallway. The house felt strangely empty. No voices, no footsteps, nothing but a deep, echoing quiet.

A nervous chill ran down her spine.

"Ayaan…?" she called out hesitantly.

For a few moments there was only silence. Then, after a short while, Ayaan appeared from the staircase upstairs, walking down slowly.

Aarshi immediately asked, slightly confused,

"Where did you go?"

Ayaan looked at her with mild surprise and replied casually,

"It's morning… obviously I was sleeping in my room."

Realization dawned on Aarshi's face. She quickly asked another question.

"Where's Momo?"

"She must be in the washroom," Ayaan answered. "She has to go to the office today."

Aarshi's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Wait… does that mean… today it's just going to be the two of us in the house?"

Ayaan silently nodded.

The color drained from Aarshi's face.

She had never expected that she would end up spending an entire day alone with Ayaan.

Trying to break the awkward tension, Ayaan asked softly,

"Are you hungry?"

Aarshi shook her head quickly.

"I need to go to the washroom."

Ayaan replied,

"The guest room has an attached washroom."

He then walked her back to her room and pointed it out.

Only then did Aarshi realize her mistake… she had unnecessarily disturbed him. A wave of embarrassment flushed across her cheeks.

Soon everyone freshened up and gathered in the hall. Momo had already prepared breakfast.

Momo smiled warmly and asked Aarshi,

"Did you sleep well?"

Aarshi nodded and said yes… even though the redness in her eyes revealed the truth that she had barely slept.

They all sat at the dining table.

Momo began serving breakfast. Aarshi quietly watched her while Ayaan kept his head lowered the entire time. He felt shy even looking at Aarshi.

Mahira gently explained the layout of the house to Aarshi — where the kitchen was, and that if she needed anything she could simply ask Ayaan without hesitation. She also mentioned that Momo and Ayaan's room was upstairs.

Mahira tried her best to make Aarshi feel completely comfortable.

But soon after breakfast, Momo had to leave for the office.

And the situation instantly became even more awkward.

Now the house was silent… with only Aarshi and Ayaan inside.

Both of them felt shy even facing each other.

After gathering some courage, Ayaan asked,

"Did you finish your holiday homework?"

Aarshi shook her head.

"I haven't even started yet."

"Then… we can do our homework together," Ayaan suggested.

Aarshi simply nodded.

Both of them were secretly trying to make each other feel comfortable.

The morning passed quietly.

Aarshi spent most of her time unpacking her belongings in her room, while Ayaan stayed in his own room, aimlessly passing time.

Eventually, afternoon arrived.

Ayaan walked to Aarshi's door and knocked.

"What happened?" Aarshi asked from inside.

"What do you want for lunch?" Ayaan asked.

"Anything is fine," she replied casually.

Ayaan was still standing at the doorway when he said,

"Think properly and tell me. I'll be in the hall."

Aarshi chuckled and asked teasingly,

"Are you going to cook lunch?"

"I'll order something," Ayaan answered.

Aarshi smiled mischievously.

"Let's eat something nice… something that doesn't need to be ordered."

Ayaan simply went to the hall and sat in front of the TV.

A few minutes later, Aarshi came and sat beside him.

"Do you want to eat ramen?" she asked.

Ayaan was momentarily stunned.

Why ramen…?

But after clearing his thoughts he simply replied,

"Hmm… sure."

Luckily, there were ramen packets in Ayaan's house.

So the two of them went into the kitchen together and cooked one-pot ramen.

To avoid washing too many dishes, they decided to eat directly from the same pot.

However… there was one tiny problem.

Ayaan had a very low spice tolerance.

The pot of ramen was placed on the table in front of the TV.

Ayaan asked, confused,

"Why did you put it here?"

Aarshi grinned.

"We'll watch TV and enjoy eating."

Ayaan silently agreed.

Aarshi took the first bite.

And instantly her face turned red.

The ramen was far spicier than she had expected.

But she didn't say anything.

Ayaan, still avoiding eye contact with her, took his first bite.

And disaster struck.

Within seconds his face turned bright red — like a tomato.

His eyes filled with tears.

Even his ears turned crimson.

Aarshi looked at him… and burst into uncontrollable laughter.

But she didn't realize how serious his situation actually was.

Tears began streaming down Ayaan's face. His eyes burned violently.

Without wasting a second, he rushed to the kitchen and grabbed water.

But even after drinking water, the burning didn't stop.

In desperation, he opened the fridge and began stuffing ice cubes into his mouth.

Aarshi followed him into the kitchen.

When she saw him struggling to even keep his eyes open because they had turned so red… she quickly pulled out ice cream from the freezer and handed it to him.

Ayaan took a huge scoop and shoved it into his mouth.

But some of the ice cream smeared all over his lips and cheeks.

Aarshi struggled desperately to hold back her laughter.

Because at that moment… Ayaan looked unbelievably adorable.

His red face… watery eyes… and an oversized scoop of ice cream stuffed in his mouth.

It was almost too cute.

After a while, Ayaan finally felt some relief and returned to the hall.

Aarshi sat beside him again.

Then she leaned slightly closer.

Ayaan froze in confusion.

Slowly, Aarshi lifted her hand… and gently wiped the ice cream off his face.

Then she quietly leaned back again.

The awkward tension between them slowly began to fade.

Aarshi soon returned from the kitchen with a bowl of cut fruits.

She handed it to Ayaan and said teasingly,

"If your spice tolerance is so low… why did you agree to ramen?"

"I didn't think it would be that spicy," Ayaan replied.

Now Aarshi had no choice but to finish the entire pot herself.

She grabbed a bottle of water and began eating again.

But after just a few bites, the spice overwhelmed her.

She suddenly shouted,

"Bring something sweet!"

Without saying anything, Ayaan picked up a slice of apple from his fruit bowl… and fed it to her with his own hand.

Aarshi quietly ate it.

Then she said dramatically,

"This is seriously too spicy… please help me finish it."

Ayaan immediately refused.

"My spice tolerance is very low. I'm not eating that. You should throw it away."

But Aarshi stubbornly ignored him.

She kept eating.

And eventually… she finished the entire pot.

By the end, her eyes were filled with tears.

Ayaan silently handed her the ice cream tub.

"Here. Eat this."

Aarshi raised an eyebrow.

"Do I look like a glutton to you?"

"Just eat it," Ayaan said calmly. "It'll reduce the spice. I'll eat with you."

So she started eating.

The cool sweetness finally brought relief.

Ayaan sat beside her, eating ice cream too — both of them using separate spoons.

They continued watching TV together while finishing their chaotic lunch.

It had been an absolute disaster… yet strangely fun.

Later, they started playing an e-sports match together.

Aarshi joined Ayaan's team as a new player.

To everyone's surprise, she performed incredibly well and quickly secured her place in the team.

Soon the teammates began asking about her.

"What's her name?" they asked Ayaan.

Without much thought, Ayaan casually told them.

Then someone asked,

"How do you know her?"

This time Aarshi turned on her microphone and replied confidently,

"My brother is friends with Momo. I'll be staying at Ayaan's house for vacation, so we're playing together."

No one had expected that answer.

Everyone was shocked that Ayaan was actually staying with a girl.

But the match continued normally until it ended.

After the game ended, however…

Aarshi became a mysterious topic of discussion in Ayaan's friend group.

No one had ever seen her before.

Yet she seemed incredibly close to Ayaan.

Soon the teasing began.

Some of them even started shipping Ayaan and Aarshi together.

Everyone demanded to see her photo.

Ayaan finally replied coldly:

"Stop your nonsense. She's not interested in any of you. She doesn't care about you guys."

After that message…

The entire group chat fell silent.

But deep inside, every single one of Ayaan's friends had become extremely curious.

Who exactly was Aarshi?

By evening, Momo returned home.

When she saw Aarshi and Ayaan behaving normally around each other, she felt a huge wave of relief.

But neither of them realized something important.

This vacation…

Was going to become something far more unexpected, chaotic, and unforgettable than they could ever imagine.

And only time would reveal the emotions quietly beginning to grow between them.
