Cherreads

Chapter 173 - 171

The moment Bai Ningbing saw Genichi's gaze shift onto her, her face went deathly pale.

She knew that look far too well. Just now, he had looked at her parents the same way before personally cutting out their kidneys.

Now it was her turn.

She instinctively tried to step back, but the black shadows held her in place, leaving her completely unable to move. Her legs went weak. She could barely stand, and if not for the shadows supporting her, she would have collapsed onto the floor.

In her despair, Ningbing raised her head and looked at Genichi. Tears spilled down her face at once.

"Genichi… I was wrong… I really was wrong…"

Her voice trembled, and her tears had already burst free.

"Please let me go… I know I shouldn't have treated you that way… but that was Mom and Dad's decision, not mine… I was just an obedient child…"

Genichi looked at her with a faint smile on his lips.

That smile was so gentle it almost seemed like an ordinary older brother looking at a younger sister who had made a mistake.

But there was not a trace of warmth in his eyes.

"An obedient child?"

He said softly, "Then why didn't you listen to me?"

He waved a hand.

The shadows immediately lifted Ningbing up and pressed her down onto the coffee table.

Ningbing's face was pressed against the cold glass, her body trembling violently. She could smell the blood left on the surface. She could see her own terrified face reflected in the glass.

In that instant, she broke down sobbing.

"No! Genichi! I was wrong! Please let me go!"

Her scream was shrill and piercing, filled with despair and pleading.

Genichi walked to her side, leaned down, and whispered beside her ear.

"If I let you go, then who let go of the Genichi who died on that operating table?"

Ningbing's body went rigid.

The Genichi who died on that operating table…

She remembered that day. Their whole family had sat on the bench outside the operating room, waiting for news.

When the doctor came out and said, "The operation was successful. Both kidneys were removed," her parents had smiled.

Those smiles were full of relief.

Those smiles were full of gratitude that Boda had been saved.

No one had asked what happened to the person lying on that operating table.

No one cared whether he lived or died.

In their eyes, he had only been a walking organ bank.

"Now it's your turn to pay the debt."

Genichi's voice sounded beside her ear.

Then the scalpel came down.

"Ah!"

Ningbing let out a bloodcurdling scream.

The sharp blade cut into her skin, and tearing pain flooded through her entire body. She could feel the knife cutting into her flesh, separating what lay beneath.

"No! It hurts! Please!"

She struggled wildly, but the shadows pinned her down so tightly she could not move at all.

All she could do was lie against the cold coffee table and endure pain that seemed to sink into her bones.

It was a pain beyond words.

As if countless blades were stirring inside her body.

As if her organs were being hollowed out.

As if even her soul was being torn apart.

Genichi's hand remained steady.

He worked with chilling calm. No matter how Ningbing screamed or begged, his hand did not tremble once.

With a light flick of the blade, a bloodied kidney was removed and dropped onto the tray beside him with a dull sound.

Ningbing's scream cut off abruptly. Her eyes rolled back, her body convulsed violently, and she fainted on the spot.

Genichi glanced at her and shook his head.

The shadows immediately woke her up.

Ningbing opened her eyes. The moment she saw Genichi's blood-smeared face, she screamed again.

That scream was packed with terror and despair.

"Don't rush."

Genichi said softly, "That's only one. There are still two left before we're done."

Ningbing's body shook violently. Tears and snot mixed together on her face. She had already completely broken down.

Genichi no longer looked at her. Instead, he turned toward the last person.

Bai Boda.

The favored adopted son.

When Boda saw Genichi's gaze fall on him, his whole body jolted in terror.

He knew he could not escape.

He knew what was waiting for him.

So he chose another path.

"You bastard!"

He cursed furiously, his eyes filled with hatred.

"What gives you the right to do this to us? You're just an abandoned piece of trash! Mom and Dad didn't want you. Liu Ruyan didn't want you. Nobody wanted you! Your whole life is a joke!"

Genichi raised an eyebrow.

Not bad. He actually had some courage.

Unfortunately, Boda had only managed to curse once before he could say anything more. A shadow stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face several times.

Smack! Smack! Smack!

The crisp sound of slaps echoed through the living room.

Boda's face swelled at a visible speed. The corner of his mouth split open, and blood trickled out.

But the shadows did not stop. They kept striking him.

Once. Twice. Three times.

Soon, Boda's face had been beaten into a bloody mess.

His skin split open, his flesh was mangled, and his original features were almost impossible to recognize.

His teeth fell out one by one, spilling from his mouth with the blood.

His eyes were swollen nearly shut, leaving only a faint sliver of light visible through the gaps.

His curses had long since turned into muffled sobs.

Genichi looked at him and smiled.

"You seem to have the most courage out of all of them."

He said softly, "So I've decided to reward you."

Boda's body began shaking violently.

He wanted to retreat, but the shadows held him firmly in place.

"I'm not only going to take your kidney. I'm going to take one of your eyes too."

Boda's pupils contracted sharply.

His eye?

That meant… that meant…

His body shook violently from sheer terror, and muffled pleas for mercy came from his mouth.

Genichi ignored him.

He waved his hand, and the shadows pressed Boda down onto the coffee table.

Boda's face was forced against the cold glass, his entire body trembling. He could feel Genichi walking closer. He could feel the chill of the scalpel.

Then the blade came down.

"Mmph!"

Boda's mouth was covered by the shadows, so he could not even scream properly. Only a dull, stifled whimper escaped him.

The pain of the blade cutting into his skin nearly made him faint.

But then an even sharper agony followed. The knife cut into his side, separating flesh and what lay beneath.

He struggled. He convulsed. He wanted to scream, but every sound was trapped in his throat.

With a light flick, a kidney was removed.

But this was not over.

Genichi did not stop.

He picked up the scalpel and turned toward Boda's face.

Boda's eyes were wide open, filled with terror and despair.

He struggled desperately, but the shadows were terrifyingly strong. He could not move at all.

The scalpel slowly approached.

Closer to his eye.

Then:

Squelch.

The scalpel stabbed straight into Boda's eye socket.

"Mmph!"

Boda's body arched violently as he convulsed.

That pain was a hundred times worse than losing a kidney.

The instant the blade pierced his eye, his entire world seemed to turn red.

Genichi held the handle and twisted it lightly.

With another wet sound, the eyeball was destroyed, and blood spilled from the socket.

Boda's struggling finally stopped. He collapsed across the coffee table, his body still twitching faintly, but he had completely lost consciousness.

Genichi pulled out the scalpel and looked at the blood and flesh clinging to the blade. A delighted smile appeared on his face.

On that blood-smeared face, the smile looked especially eerie.

"All right."

He turned and looked at the remaining people.

Liu Ruyan and Li Boxiao were curled up in the corner, shaking like sieves.

Ningbing's parents lay collapsed on the floor, their eyes hollow. They had already broken down completely.

Ningbing lay on the coffee table, still twitching faintly.

Genichi's gaze swept over them, and the smile on his face grew brighter.

"Then let's move on to the next stage."

When Liu Ruyan heard that, her body jerked violently.

She raised her head and looked at Genichi, her eyes full of pleading.

"Genichi… you said… as long as I called them here… you'd let me go…"

Her voice trembled so badly it was almost impossible to hear.

Genichi tilted his head, making an expression of sudden realization.

"Oh, right. I did say that."

A trace of hope flashed in Ruyan's eyes.

But in the next second, that hope shattered.

"But I lied."

Genichi smiled. That smile was like a demon's.

"You called them here, and you still have to die. All of you have to die!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the shadows beneath his feet began to writhe violently.

One black shadow after another crawled out from the darkness. More and more appeared, dense and packed together, until they nearly filled the entire living room.

These shadows were different from the earlier ones. In their hands, they held stray dogs.

The dogs came in all sizes, black and yellow, large and small. Every one of them was skin and bones, their eyes glittering with hunger and madness.

The shadows held them by the necks, but the dogs still struggled desperately, letting out low barks.

At the same time, another massive object was dragged inside by the shadows.

It was a huge iron cage, over ten square meters in size. The iron bars were covered in rust and gave off a foul stench.

Genichi pointed at the cage.

"Of course, it's not as if I'm giving you no chance at all."

He looked at the terrified people and smiled.

"As long as you can kill these stray dogs and walk out of the cage alive, I'll let you go."

Ruyan froze.

Ningbing froze.

Everyone froze.

Kill those dogs?

Those crazed, starving, skeletal stray dogs?

"No… no…"

Ruyan shook her head desperately. "I'm not going in…"

But her pleading was useless.

The shadows stepped forward, grabbed them from the floor, and dragged them one after another toward the iron cage.

"No! Please!"

"Let go of me! I don't want to go in!"

"You'll die horribly for this!"

Cries, pleas, and curses rose one after another in the living room.

But Genichi only stood there with a pleased smile on his face, quietly watching it all unfold.

One by one, they were thrown into the cage.

Then the stray dogs were thrown in as well.

The iron cage door slammed shut.

In an instant, chaos erupted inside the cage.

The stray dogs had been locked up for too long and starved for too long. When they saw humans, it was as if they had seen food.

They lunged wildly, biting, tearing, and fighting over every piece of flesh.

The screams began.

They were true screams, even more wretched than when the kidneys were taken.

This time, they were not facing a single person.

They were facing a pack of starving beasts.

Ruyan screamed as she kicked and struck at the dogs pouncing on her.

Several bloody holes had already been torn into her legs, and blood streamed down them.

Ningbing curled up in the corner, protecting her head with both hands while the dogs tore at her body.

Her parents had completely broken down. They lay there motionless, treated as food by the pack.

Li Boxiao swung his fists madly and killed several dogs, but even more rushed forward and buried him beneath them.

Boda had lost consciousness long ago. He lay there as the dogs tore into him.

Inside the cage, screams, barking, and tearing sounds mixed together like a symphony from hell.

Genichi stood outside the cage and quietly watched it all.

The pleased smile never left his face.

Those people struggled, screamed, and fought one another.

To survive, they began attacking each other.

They had become beasts.

True beasts.

Genichi watched them, and an indescribable rush of satisfaction surged through his chest.

It felt good.

It felt too good.

The rage that had been buried for so long, the despair and resentment carried over from the memories of the female-oriented Genichi, were finally released completely in that moment.

He laughed.

He laughed freely, wildly, and arrogantly.

Inside the cage, the screams grew weaker and weaker.

Gradually, only the sound of the dogs tearing at flesh remained.

Genichi turned away and stopped watching.

He walked to the wine cabinet, took out the best bottle of red wine, poured himself a glass, and took a light sip.

The wine slid down his throat with a hint of sweetness.

Behind him, the sounds inside the cage grew quieter and quieter, until they finally faded into complete silence.

Genichi set down the wineglass and let out a long breath.

"The debt is paid."

He said softly.
