Chapter 21 - Changes

A week had passed since Ryan woken up, and now he could open his mouth slightly and move his tongue a little.

He could also move his hands a little, but he needed help to sit down.

His family had been taking turns helping him in recent days; each day it was someone's turn to help him move his body a little.

And also helping him eat and dress ٫ today it was Liara's turn.

He tried to move his legs, but to no avail.

'Mira said the treatment period would be six months.'

Six months was a long time, but bearable. He turned his head to the side to see a glass of water.

After a few moments, the glass began to freeze until it was completely frozen.

He looked to the frozen cup:

'If I could have used my element that day, perhaps I could have escaped.'

That was the day his item was prevented from leaving because of a bracelet.

Ryan had never known anything like that existed before, and if they could create something like that, there might be many other weapons that could be used.

'It seems I knew nothing about this world.'

He looked at the frozen glass, then anger began to grow inside him after thinking about someone.

He looked at the frozen glass, then anger began to grow inside him as he thought of someone:

'Arkian Valros.'

The person who kidnapped Ryan and caused his paralysis vowed to kill him.

'I'll burn that bastard alive.'

His anger was rising in an unusual way, but what happened next made his eyes widen.

The ice on the cup began to melt slowly until it was completely melted, but it didn't stop there. The wooden cup began to burn until it turned to charcoal.

Then the coal turned to ash, and Ryan's anger subsided.

'What happened? Did I do it?'

He should have checked, but he couldn't.

He could light something in the room and then extinguish the fire, but he might lose control due to his weak body.

So he decided to wait and see how his spark turned; he closed his eyes and focused.

He saw its spark.

'What is this?'

Its spark had become strange ٫ it was larger than usual, and its color had also changed.

Its spark was blue as usual, but the blue had turned dark.

'Dark blue'

'Did anything happen to me when I was burning?'

This was the only possible explanation; his body and spark seemed to have undergone a change that now enabled him to use two elements:

Ice and fire.

'Two opposing elements'

Ice and fire were opposites, like water and fire, or plants and fire.

But Ryan eyes lit up with many ideas.

'But perhaps I can benefit from both; having two is better than one.'

Then he heard a knock on the door, and after a few moments the door opened and Liara entered carrying a tray containing bowl of soup.

This was what Ryan had been eating for the previous week or for the past three years.

A light steam was rising from the soup, indicating that it was still warm ٫ it carried a warm aroma of wild herbs.

Liara stepped forward, placed the tray on the floor, then helped Ryan sit down and sat on a bed next to him.

In the days before, his mother had told him that the person who saved him was Liara and that she had done everything she could to help him wake up over the past three years.

'It seems I owe her'

Ryan was not close to his sister, but from what he had heard, she had saved him and done a lot to help him, and he was not mean enough to forget her kindness.

His sister looked at him as usual, Ryan noticed her pupils moving and thought he saw sadness in them.

Ryan didn't know whether she was sad about his situation or pitying his miserable state.

Liara carried the tray and placed her on her lap, then opened Ryan's mouth.

I took the bowl of soup, took a spoonful, and held it close to Ryan's mouth.

'Who would have thought my rude older sister would feed me?'
