Alith looked surprised, he had never expected that the boy to respond so rudely.
Elisa was also surprised; even the nobles of Terak couldn't speak to her father with such rudeness, and they carefully considered every word they uttered.
As for Serene, she looked at Ryan with interest, but her facial expression remained calm.
As for Anna, she put a spoonful of soup in her mouth and said nothing ٫she just listened.
The expression of surprise on Alith's face turned to annoyance; he couldn't bring himself to be angry at a boy who wasn't even half his age.
He spoke, his tone irritated.
"What did you say, boy?"
Ryan put down his knife and fork and looked calmly at the head of the table where Alith was sitting.
"With all due respect, sir, I'm not a nanny."
He then turned his gaze to Elisa.
Elisa noticed his gaze and pointed her spoon at his face, annoyed.
"Who are you calling a child? We're the same age."
Alith's expression grew harsher, but before he could speak, a servant came and whispered in his ear, and then in Siren's ear, much to the surprise of Alith and his wife.
His expression returned to calm, and he placed his hands clasped together on the table.
"Are you Liara brother?"
Ryan looked at him.
"And what if I..."
After that, Alith didn't speak, but his wife, Sirin, did.
"It seems you've woken up. I heard you were in a coma."
Ryan looked at her and raised an eyebrow. Serene saw this she drank a glass of water, and continued talking.
"We know your sister. She came to us asking for help in obtaining an elixir and told us about her circumstances because we are old friends."
She took a breath.
"We learned from her that her brother had fallen asleep for some reason, although she didn't say why. We learned it was due to some kind of attack through our influence."
Elisa thought about it.
'Attack?'
A sinister smile spread across Ryan's face.
"You call that an attack?"
Serene's eyes narrowed slightly.
"What?"
Ryan's expression became serious.
"I wasn't asleep because of the attack."
"The correct word is torture."
Alith and Serene showed no expression; they knew how cruel this world was, but they were shaken to their core. Torturing an eight-year-old child was a cruel thing.
As for Elisa, she was organizing her thoughts and learning more and more about the boy named Ryan as time passed, and knowing that he had been tortured made her feel sorry for him and curious.
She wanted to know so much about Ryan, a feeling she'd never experienced before.
'Why am I so interested in knowing about him?'
Alith spoke
"So, were those who did this to you punished?"
Ryan's expression turned cold, and the atmosphere around him grew chilly. He looked at Alith with cold eyes and spoke in a cold voice
"No, but I'will make them regret it."
Then Anna hit him on the head.
"You idiot! You froze my dinner!"
Ryan was astonished.
"Freezed what..."
He looked at the table and it was completely frozen; it seemed he had frozen it unintentionally.
He looked at Aleth and his wife, who were also astonished by what had happened.
He bowed politely.
"Sorry."
Then he placed his hand on the table again and the ice began to melt until it was all melted.
Elisa quickly got up from her chair, approached Ryan, and took his hand, her face full of excitement.
"You are a user of the ice element."
Ryan was confused by her touching his hands and tried to free them, but she held them again.
He nodded to confirm that he was using the ice element, as she was waiting for his answer.
Then she began asking eagerly,
"What level are you at? Can you perform multiple techniques? Can you melt ice too? Does that take a lot of your spark?"
The parents sighed; their daughter gets excited about anything related to the elements.
After a few moments of silence from Ryan, Elisa noticed her excitement.
She quickly let go of Ryan's hands and hid her embarrassment by covering her face with her own.
"Sorry."
Then she ran away
After seeing that, the parents sighed again, and then her mother spoke
"Don't mind her, she always gets so excited when she talks about items or a user sees an item they haven't seen before."
Ryan saw Elisa run away, but his heart was pounding.
"Were i excited just because a little girl touched my hands?"
Alith spoke.
"Let's finish dinner here."
Anna looked at him in surprise.
"What? I haven't finished eating yet?"
Then she looked at the food, which was supposedly ice-cold, and sighed.
"Oh well, it doesn't matter."
Then she grabbed Ryan by the back of his shirt and looked at the couple.
"So, goodnight."
She turned her gaze to Ryan.
"We need to talk."
Then she pulled him away and left, leaving the couple alone.
After they left, Aleth spoke:
"My dear, this child is quite interesting, isn't he?"
Serene smiled.
"Yes, very interesting."
