The madness of this world is reaching its end, or perhaps it is only the beginning. Our friends stand before a truly imposing supernatural creature. What awaits them?
Continuing with the story, our friends are nervously watching the massive bat hanging from the pyramid's ceiling and begin to devise a plan.
DANTE HERALDI: Alright, guys, it's time to plan something to defeat that thing. I need you to be honest with me. How are you feeling right now?
MALEKIN: I am ready to fight; I believe all my power has been restored.
QUETZALCOATL: I am more than ready as well.
REX: (wagging his tail) If you're ready, let's do this…
MAYANTÚ: Wait, look over there, someone is coming.
Our friends see that through the main entrance, a human with torn pants and no shirt on his upper body slowly enters the building; he is severely injured.
MALEKIN: It's incredible that a human made it to this place.
QUETZALCOATL: Um… Hey, Malekin, isn't that guy Jorge?
MALEKIN: (surprised) It really is him, but how on earth did he survive the others?
MAYANTÚ: That man is badly wounded and I see he possesses a strong fighting spirit, but (grows very serious) his luck ends here… watch.
Now we shift to see what is happening with Jorge, who slowly creeps deeper into the place.
JORGE: (in his mind) So much pain, I hope I don't run into anyone. I'm badly hurt and this smell is disgusting; I can barely see a thing. What kind of place is this? I swear I'll get my revenge on that goddess and the demon. It's fortunate that I awakened teleportation powers; I'm sure once I get stronger later on, I'll escape. I managed to break away from those specters, and for some reason, they didn't follow me here. That was a relief because I passed out as soon as I arrived. What a strange dream I had, but now that I'm awake, I'll try to leave. Um, I can't see very well around here, and these puddles on the ground… could they be water?
Suddenly, JORGE trips over something and falls. Upon focusing his sight, he realizes it is a grotesquely mutilated corpse, immediately scrambling backward and screaming. We notice that "CAMAZOTZ" stops eating, turns toward the noise, and lets out a deafening roar while dropping his food, terrifying JORGE even further. Instantly, the immense chamber is lit up by torches igniting out of thin air, clearly revealing a place littered with corpses, puddles of blood, people hanging from chains, and others placed in numerous torture instruments. Agonizing wails echo throughout the room as the bat god drops from the ceiling and lands right before JORGE, who is trembling like never before. CAMAZOTZ, standing ten times larger than JORGE, brings his face close to inspect him better and speaks with a raspy, ominous voice.
CAMAZOTZ: (snarl) Um, hehe, a mortal? Here? In my domain? What a delight, real fresh meat, what bliss! Wahahahahahaha!
JORGE felt a lump in his throat that prevented him from speaking a single word; he didn't know what to do, only sweating and trembling. After wetting his pants once again, he simply shuts his eyes and begins to pray.
JORGE: (crying and shaking) Our Father… who art in heaven…
CAMAZOTZ looks at him with disgust and mocks him.
CAMAZOTZ: Ha! Mortal, I see wickedness in you, and yet, facing the end of your life, it occurs to you to pray? (Grows angry) You make me sick… humans, all of you are the same when facing inevitable death, showing your true faces. But (makes a sinister, happy grimace) meat is meat, hahahaha!
CAMAZOTZ, without wasting any time, snaps his jaws down, attempting to grab JORGE. He tries to escape, but it is useless and he ends up trapped between the beast's teeth. He screamed in agony and begged for mercy, but CAMAZOTZ paid no mind to his pleas. Following this, CAMAZOTZ takes flight and soars throughout the chamber, gloating over his new prey and shaking him violently in midair; blood spurts out in torrents, defiling the entire area. Even the cage holding our friends ELENA and ISAMU becomes splatter-stained, all while listening to JORGE's shrieks as our friends watch this scene in absolute shock.
DANTE HERALDI: Such cruelty. I see that creature has neutralized all the meager powers that guy possessed. Hey, Malekin, do you know him? Is he your friend or something?
MALEKIN: No, that man is pure evil, and this end is fitting for him.
QUETZALCOATL: (sighs) Yes, he is a bad person, but I think it's time for him to rest. This suffering won't stop if we leave him like this; that beast is tormenting him on purpose.
MALEKIN: You know he deserves it... that and more.
DANTE HERALDI: I agree with Quetzalcoatl; we must put a stop to it.
MALEKIN: (disappointed) Fine, but I'll be the one to do it.
MALEKIN watches as JORGE screams in despair, begging for mercy and for someone to save him. Then MALEKIN extends his hand. Before firing a lightning bolt, MALEKIN speaks aloud: "Goodbye, Jorge." Following this, he fires a beam that pierces through JORGE's head, killing him instantly. CAMAZOTZ halts abruptly, roaring in fury as his fun was cut short. The team leaps from the window, landing on the ground and glaring at CAMAZOTZ. The bat tosses JORGE aside and turns toward our friends, slamming onto the floor right in front of them with an impact that shakes the ground.
CAMAZOTZ: Look at this, more humans and… wait, what a peculiar group. Now, why did you ruin my fun? That human deserved to suffer more; I saw it in his eyes. Was it you, demon?
MALEKIN, without a trace of fear in his voice, confronts CAMAZOTZ.
MALEKIN: Yes, it was me, and let me tell you something: prepare to fight, because today is the last day of your life.
REX: Well, so much for the plan.
CAMAZOTZ: Hmph, you really want to fight me? Insignificant beings like you…
Suddenly, DANTE leaps and delivers a heavy punch straight to the bat god's face, sending him flying and crashing into the far wall. CAMAZOTZ gets up, stunned, and lets out a roar as he takes a combat stance. Our friends gear up for battle as well.
MAYANTÚ: Alright, this is about to start. You guys fight him. You, Dante, stay with me for a moment; I need to talk to you.
DANTE is taken aback and everyone looks at the situation strangely, but there is no time left. They charge into battle against CAMAZOTZ while DANTE and MAYANTÚ stay behind, cloaking themselves with MAYANTÚ's barrier to talk. CAMAZOTZ, realizing they vanished, grows confused and enraged, spewing fire from his mouth to drive the others back, but they dodge, igniting a fierce clash: REX, QUETZALCOATL, and MALEKIN against CAMAZOTZ, while we now see DANTE and MAYANTÚ talking in secret.
An awkward silence fills the space around them as both beings stand tense. MAYANTÚ breaks the silence, speaking first.
MAYANTÚ: (sighs) Kid, what happened in your dreams? Why are you displaying so much power now?
DANTE is uneasy. At first he doesn't want to speak, but seeing that the toad won't leave him alone, he sighs, surrenders, and tells him everything.
DANTE HERALDI: Fine, I'll tell you; I hope you can help me with this. You see, in my dreams I faced a person I hate with all my soul. He killed my family, and the dream showed me that—my regrets for failing to save them. Now, I thought that was the only thing keeping me like this, but that damn dream reminded me of something I had forgotten, something I deeply regret. Now that I remember it again, it hurts so much and eats away at me from the inside.
MAYANTÚ: Um, the children of CHAD, right?
DANTE HERALDI: Heh, how do you know... anyway, I shouldn't be surprised; you already told me what your powers are, you see my past, don't you?
MAYANTÚ: Unfortunately, yes, and what happened that day? Tell me, maybe you'll feel better.
DANTE HERALDI: Nothing special, just a mission where we had to escort a ship for the US government, but inside that ship there were refugee children hidden from a country called CHAD. Later on, we discovered the whole ship was a trap; the children were infected with a very dangerous virus that mutated the body. By the time we realized it, we were almost at America and there was only one option: kill all the children, since we risked everyone dying. I know I could have helped more, I know it, I know about viruses and how to treat them, but I was careless that day, I didn't search the ship properly, and God, (Dante cries) what we did that day still haunts me to this day; over 100 children died, and I tossed them overboard myself.
MAYANTÚ: And that's how you hid the evidence, right?
DANTE HERALDI: That day I was working as a mercenary, and my bosses forced me to. God, what did I do? But that's not what bothers me in itself; in my dreams, the demon inside me appeared once again, and he was the one who helped me. You know where this is going, right, MAYANTÚ?
MAYANTÚ: I see it clearly, you have new powers, right? But what's most interesting is why?
DANTE HERALDI: (sighs) You see, this time that thing gave me a rage—a rage I've never felt in my life when remembering those government scumbags, but this time my mind didn't cloud over, and now I see with my "Inspect" power that there is a list of 7 skills that are crossed out and only one is available, and it's "Wrath." I feel that little by little I am straying away from humanity.
MAYANTÚ: Dante, I can't tell you the future because it's uncertain, but I will tell you one thing: follow your own convictions, don't let yourself be manipulated; I see you have recovered your abilities, so think about what you want to protect most right now.
DANTE HERALDI: You're right. (Looks at his friends fighting). They are the best thing that has ever happened to me, apart from my old family, of course; well, it's time to fight, let's go.
MAYANTÚ: Very well, kid, show what you're made of.
DANTE smiles and rockets out from MAYANTÚ's barrier, drawing his sword and slashing CAMAZOTZ slightly, causing the creature to stagger back wounded.
CAMAZOTZ: Damn it, one after another... now you'll see.
CAMAZOTZ raises his wings toward the sky as a black mist billows from beneath his mantle, beginning to cover the entire chamber. Slowly, everything grows dark, and a chill runs through our friends' bodies, leaving them all bewildered. High above, ELENA and ISAMU watch the fight, consumed with worry. CAMAZOTZ is completely engulfed in the mist, and shortly after, total darkness falls as a disturbing laugh echoes through the room, though no one can see a thing through the rising fog.
CAMAZOTZ: Hahahaha, it's time to fight for real!
DANTE, nervous and alarmed by CAMAZOTZ's declaration, shouts to ELENA for help.
DANTE HERALDI: ELENA! LIGHT, PLEASE!
ELENA hears DANTE's plea and casts a sphere of light outside the cage that illuminates the chamber, revealing before everyone how CAMAZOTZ begins to transform. His bones rearrange themselves, his imposing stature grows shorter, and his body builds denser muscle mass, taking on a more humanoid form clad in the garments of a Mayan god—wearing a small crown more terrifying than usual, with eyes completely blood-red, glaring down at our friends. Quickly, everyone creates distance from the bat god, who speaks to them.
CAMAZOTZ: Today you mortals die; (in his mind) why does my chest hurt? "Ouch."
CAMAZOTZ unleashes his formidable talons, and in the blink of an eye, attempts to strike DANTE, but his blow is blocked. CAMAZOTZ stands shocked at how skilled DANTE is and continues pounding away, but DANTE stands firm, blocking every swing. In a swift maneuver, QUETZALCOATL grabs CAMAZOTZ by the wings and pulls him away. Instantly, MALEKIN tackles him while enveloped in a purple barrier, sending him flying. REX loses no time, transforming into his giant wolf form to bite CAMAZOTZ, thrashing him violently and slamming him to the ground. Once on the floor, REX unleashes fireballs that blast the god; a curtain of smoke rises, revealing CAMAZOTZ injured, but he rapidly heals himself, standing unscathed.
CAMAZOTZ: Hahaha, I congratulate you, you truly are entertaining me; I will torture you for all eternity once I finish you off.
Little by little, our friends are regaining their full strength as CAMAZOTZ's influence weakens. Our friends are no longer afraid; the aura of terror that CAMAZOTZ infused no longer has any effect on them, and CAMAZOTZ is realizing it.
CAMAZOTZ: (in his mind) Damn it, these beings no longer fear me—neither me, nor this world. The pain in my chest persists. What on earth is happening, Lord Mictlantekuti?
Promptly, CAMAZOTZ attacks in sheer desperation, as the agony prevents him from fighting at his best. However, our friends, through their synchronized teamwork, manage to keep CAMAZOTZ at bay, leaving him heavily wounded.
A few hours have passed; our friends have managed to hold off CAMAZOTZ for a long time, and he is now utterly exhausted. The same goes for our friends, except for DANTE, who doesn't seem very tired at all.
DANTE HERALDI: Alright, this ends now.
DANTE activates his new power, "Wrath." His muscles expand slightly as a lethal rage consumes him, and he fights to control this power that grants him a larger physique. Grasping his katana with both hands, he also activates "Shadow Cloak," causing a dark aura to emanate from DANTE, leaving CAMAZOTZ deeply shocked.
CAMAZOTZ: You! It can't be... you were chosen by the Sins! NO! DAMN IT, a mortal was chosen by the Sins! AHHHHHHH!
CAMAZOTZ lunges desperately toward DANTE, who readies his blade. As the bat god charges at DANTE, the others try to stop him, but no one can. The barriers MALEKIN casts are shattered into a thousand pieces; REX and QUETZALCOATL are repelled when trying to halt his momentum. Yet, just as he comes within inches of DANTE, in the blink of an eye, DANTE severes the god's head, sending it flying through the air. In the few remaining moments of consciousness left in the airborne head, it analyzes DANTE, wondering how a mere mortal could possess such immense power. Following this, CAMAZOTZ's body shrinks back to its normal size, collapsing in the center of the chamber while his head lands elsewhere as a river of blood floods the area.
Our friends finally breathe a sigh of relief in this monstrous place. Instantly, DANTE slices the cage to pieces, freeing ELENA and ISAMU, who express their immense gratitude—especially ELENA, who wastes no time and rushes to embrace DANTE.
ELENA: (Kisses him). My love, thank you for coming, I love you.
REX: (wagging his tail) Elena, I helped too, don't forget!
ISAMU: Come on, REX, don't be impatient. First, return to normal; you're huge.
REX: Hahaha, yeah, you're right (shrinks down).
Our friends laugh at REX's antics, but as usual, nothing lasts forever. While everyone celebrates the victory, something happens to CAMAZOTZ's body: it begins squirming where it lies. Our friends notice this and turn around, when without warning, a clawed hand bursts out from CAMAZOTZ's chest, tearing through his entire torso from the inside out. Now, we shift for a few moments to the throne of MICTLANTEKUTI, who is speaking with one of his skeleton generals.
SKELETON GENERAL: My lord, forgive my boldness, but I sense that something is troubling you.
MICTLANTEKUTI: General, you who have served me for many centuries and with whom I have shared my knowledge, I ask you a question, and I want you to answer me honestly. Do not be afraid to speak to me informally… Tell me, do you believe there is a god who equals me?
The general, visibly nervous, answers.
SKELETON GENERAL: My lord, I do not believe there is anyone who does not fear you, but if I may speak freely, I believe there is someone who can equal you.
The god of the dead, upon hearing this, makes a grimace of dissatisfaction.
MICTLANTEKUTI: I know. It is that very same one I trapped within CAMAZOTZ's body. It was difficult to bring him here; that damned "VIRACOCHA" didn't make it easy for me. No matter how much I explained my plan to him, he refused to join me. But in the end, I managed to wound him and capture the king of the underworld from that dimension, hahahahaha! Now we shall see if they can handle him, since by killing CAMAZOTZ, he will be set free.
SKELETON GENERAL: Lord, that entity is extremely powerful, isn't he? His name was… I have forgotten it.
MICTLANTEKUTI: Remember him well, my dear general, as he will most likely come to me demanding answers once he slaughters those mortals. His name is "SUPAY"—the king of the dead, just like me.
Now we return to DANTE, where our friends watch a malignant entity slowly emerge from CAMAZOTZ's entrails. We hear the bat's flesh tearing as this evil creature forces its way out, eventually standing before them drenched in CAMAZOTZ's blood. This entity is called "SUPAY." He possesses a diabolical appearance akin to legends of a horned demon with red eyes, hair along the sides of his head, strange dark magenta leather garments, and most prominently, a third eye upon his forehead. The creature glares at our friends with utter contempt, while they watch him in fascination. MAYANTÚ, appearing beside DANTE, speaks nervously.
MAYANTÚ: My God, I didn't see this coming... since that thing blocks powers (swallows hard).
QUETZALCOATL: Why did I suddenly get a terrible chill the moment this entity appeared?
MAYANTÚ: That creature is called "SUPAY." He is a god, and also the king of the Inca dead.
Everyone stands in shock at MAYANTÚ's words. The king of the Inca dead is on the scene. What terrible ordeals await our friends? Just how powerful will this entity be? Will they be able to stand against him after the intense battle they just endured? Very soon we will find out.
