"Aoi Ren!"
The moment he heard that voice, Uchiha Emiki gritted his teeth and leaped out of the boat. "If you have the courage, stop hiding and show yourself!"
"Hiding?" A clear, bold laugh echoed from the distance. Then, a small figure appeared, walking slowly across the surface of the sea as if he were some kind of divine being.
That was right—walking.
A path of ice spread out across the ocean with every step Aoi Ren took, extending all the way until he stood right in front of Uchiha Emiki...
"I was wrong!" Even before Aoi Ren had come to a stop, Uchiha Moni had already fallen to his knees with a heavy thud, begging for mercy repeatedly. "I was wrong! I was blind and foolish, I was short-sighted and ignorant—please, I beg you, spare my life!"
Within the Uchiha clan, Uchiha Moni had always been nothing more than good-for-nothing dead weight; otherwise, he would never have been assigned the lowly duty of guarding the main gate in the first place...
But Uchiha Emiki could not bring himself to act the same way. He grabbed Moni and hauled him back to his feet, roaring through gritted teeth, "Aoi Ren, don't you dare push your luck too far!"
"Push my luck?" Aoi Ren shook his head with a smile. "It seems that you, as an elder of the Uchiha clan, will go your entire life without ever recognizing your own mistakes!"
"Mistakes?!" Uchiha Emiki threw his head back and laughed wildly. "I am an Uchiha—I never make mistakes! Even if it appears that I have done wrong, the fault lies not with me, but with the world itself!"
"Now that really is quite the dramatic declaration!" Aoi Ren said, curling his lip in amusement. "But then... that has always been the way the Uchiha clan thinks, hasn't it?"
Take Sasuke Uchiha, for example. Even after his entire family was killed while he was still a child, even after he defected from Konoha and wandered through all kinds of hardship and danger, if it hadn't been for Naruto—the protagonist himself—who stood by him through everything and eventually fought him to a draw at the Valley of the End, the second time around...
Sasuke would have gone his whole life without ever admitting he was wrong or acknowledging defeat!
But looking at Uchiha Emiki's wrinkled, arrogant face, Aoi Ren couldn't help but think: You are not Sasuke, and you are certainly not the main character of this story!

"Aoi Ren, do you truly believe you have already won?" Uchiha Emiki let out a cold, vicious laugh and pulled out a red flare, firing it straight up into the sky. "Do you really think I would come all this way without making any preparations at all?"
Aoi Ren rubbed his hands together, putting on an exaggerated act of fear. "You mean... you called over a dozen jōnin from your clan to come and assist you, and as soon as you send up that signal, they'll rush here from all around and tear me limb from limb?"
Hearing this, Uchiha Emiki's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "How did you know? Who told you?!"
"Who told me? There's no need for you to know that!" Aoi Ren sneered and shook his head. There was good reason why the Uchiha clan eventually met its end under Fugaku's watch...
Because Fugaku's father, Uchiha Makoto, was far more decisive and far more ruthless than this man standing before him!
Aoi Ren kicked the small boat hard, sending it tipping over. Uchiha Emiki and Uchiha Moni were left floundering helplessly in the cold seawater...
"Fine, I admit that you have won this round," Uchiha Emiki ground out through clenched teeth. "I don't know what underhanded tricks you have used to stop my clansmen from coming, but just you wait—next time..."
"Next time?" Aoi Ren cut him off with a cold laugh as he drew forth the Kusanagi Sword. Bolts of lightning coiled around its blade, crackling and hissing with electric energy.
"You actually intend to kill Moni?!" Seeing this, Uchiha Emiki's eyes flew open in utter astonishment. He simply could not believe that Aoi Ren would dare to kill his grandson right in front of him—especially when he was a respected elder of the Uchiha clan!
"No..." Aoi Ren smiled and shook his head, slowly moving the blade away from Moni...
Uchiha Emiki let out a long breath of relief. It seemed Aoi Ren didn't have the nerve to go that far after all.
"I am going to kill you!"
In an instant, the situation shifted completely. Aoi Ren grinned maliciously and lunged forward with the Kusanagi Sword. The terrifying lightning surging along its blade flared up violently, and the weapon pierced straight through Uchiha Emiki's heart!
Gaghh...
Caught completely off guard, Uchiha Emiki coughed up a mouthful of blood, his eyes wide with disbelief. "How dare you?! I am an elder of the Uchiha clan!"
