A few days later, atop the Hokage Rock in Konoha...
"Aoi, it would be best if you left the village for a while," Hiruzen Sarutobi said, shaking his head helplessly.
"Public opinion is heavily against you right now. The Uchiha clan has been stirring up trouble behind the scenes non-stop."
"Are they really that afraid of me?" Aoi asked, shaking his head in confusion. "I'm still so young. It's not like I'm old enough to become Hokage anyway."
"Those people have gone completely mad!" Hiruzen replied with a bitter smile.
"They are fighting with everything they have for the position of Hokage right now, and they won't tolerate even the slightest potential threat."
"By tomorrow at the latest, the Security Force, working alongside the ANBU, will issue a warrant for your arrest," Hiruzen said with a sigh.
"You killed Uchiha Shingen in front of so many witnesses; they've got a solid case against you. Even we can't simply sweep it under the rug."
"Fine then..."
Aoi had no interest in getting into a deathmatch with a clan that was already rushing toward its own destruction.
But still... where was he supposed to go once he left? The past year had brought massive changes to the entire ninja world.
"Go to the Land of Wind," Hiruzen suggested quietly.
"Ever since the Village Hidden in the Sand was destroyed, the entire country has fallen into great chaos. Many smaller nations and warlords have risen up to take advantage of the situation. It's the perfect opportunity for you."
Aoi was stunned by the implication. Hiruzen was essentially telling him to go to the Land of Wind, seize territory, and establish himself as a ruler!
He hadn't expected that in just over a year, the way Tobirama and Hiruzen thought had begun to shift so drastically. They were no longer fixated solely on defending their own borders to maintain peace.
It was a subtle change, but one of enormous significance...
Main Mission: Become the Ruler of a Nation.
Mission Details: Occupy one-tenth of the Land of Wind's total territory. Prove to Konoha that true peace can only be achieved through unification.
Mission Reward: One basic Shinobi Village; scrolls containing all standard D-Rank to C-Rank Ninjutsu.
So now I'm starting a "Become King" series? Aoi thought, scratching his head.
Maybe the System shouldn't even be called a Mission System. It should be called the "Spur-of-the-Moment System."
I just think about unifying the shinobi world, and suddenly it's a mission. Someone mentions a country, and suddenly I have to become its king!
But regardless of the suddenness... with rewards this tempting, Aoi had no intention of giving up.
For a nation to grow strong, it first needed territory. And once it had territory, it needed powerful shinobi to defend it.
Furthermore, the true foundation of a shinobi village wasn't just infrastructure — it lay in its mastery of ninjutsu.
And this reward included every single standard D-Rank and C-Rank ninjutsu scroll in existence.
Most Genin, and even many Chunin, spent their entire careers relying almost entirely on techniques of exactly those ranks!
This was a prize he was absolutely determined to claim!
Aoi waved his hand and turned to leave. Instead of bickering with the petty schemes of the Uchiha inside the village, it was far better to head to the Land of Wind and carve out his own kingdom.
But just then, Hiruzen blocked his path, speaking with a mysterious air. "Wait a moment. There is someone waiting for you in the small forest grove nearby. They very much wish to meet you."
"Someone wants to see me?" Aoi asked, confused. He had met with many people these past few days. Who would arrange such a secretive meeting?
Hiruzen's expression was unreadable, only adding to the mystery. Aoi's imagination began to run wild...
A secret rendezvous in a secluded grove...
It sounded incredibly suggestive. Don't tell me... old man Hiruzen has a beautiful younger cousin who happens to be a huge admirer of mine?
With three parts nervousness, three parts excitement, and four parts guilt, Aoi walked toward the woods.
Forgive me, Tsunade! It's not that I can't resist temptation... it's entirely Hiruzen's fault for acting like a pimp!
Filled with anticipation, Aoi pushed aside the foliage and stepped into the clearing...
Seated comfortably on the grass was a middle-aged man with a greasy, unappealing look on his face — Uchiha Makoto. He waved his hand in greeting.
"Aoi-san! It has been quite a long time."
