Chapter 37 – What's There to Say?

"Li Xudong, look, I told you—chatting up Zhou Ying got her scolded. See what you've done."

Seeing Jiang Cheng dump the blame on him, Li Xudong instantly exploded.

"Jiang Cheng, are you targeting me on purpose? Didn't you disturb Zhou Ying too? Couldn't I even look? If you've got the guts, buy one yourself."

Jiang Cheng nodded, eyeing the ferrari 488 beside Zhou Ying—listed at over five million. Its sleek look suited him perfectly.

"Exactly what I had in mind. The price is so-so, but with Zhou Ying standing there the whole package smells sweet—beauty and beast in one. Tell me, if I buy the car, will you throw in a model like her?"

The Male Manager beamed: "Sir, if you really take this ferrari 488, we'll include the protective film."

From afar he hadn't seen clearly; up close he spotted at once the Patek Philippe on Jiang Cheng's wrist.

With his experience the manager recognized it wasn't an entry-level piece—at least half a million.

Knowing the manager meant car-wrap, not car-model, Jiang Cheng still nodded: "You said it—swipe the card."

He pulled out his bank card and handed it over.

Everyone froze at his swift move.

"Old Jiang, serious? Even bare-bones it's five million; with the options we just checked it hits eight. In Chengdu that buys a luxury flat." Cheng Zhipeng, silent till now, finally blurted.

A super-car buff who could talk the talk though he couldn't buy.

The rest stared as if they'd seen a ghost.

Even Xu Ya, favorability at 90, knit her brows.

This was a Ferrari, not some run-of-the-mill ride.

Though Jiang Cheng's family was comfortable, none believed he could cough up eight million cash.

In Chengdu that sum buys a very nice suite.

Li Xudong snickered first: "Jiang Cheng, quit posing. Zhou Ying works here—don't cost her the job."

"Li Xudong, brain-dead? How does my purchase hurt her? I'm buying because of her—right, Manager?"

The manager instantly caught on, respectfully taking the card with a smile.

"Absolutely, sir. The commission will go straight to Zhou Ying."

A small cut for her after selling this beast? No problem.

Zhou Ying shot Jiang Cheng a grateful glance.

She knew without his words the commission would never reach a mere car-model like her.

She wasn't sales staff—just a model.

Zhou Ying: favorability +5!

"Deal—but remember, car comes with the model."

Watching Jiang Cheng tease Zhou Ying till she blushed crimson, Li Xudong's face turned livid.

The manager chuckled along: "Yes, Mr. Jiang. Shall we sign? I'll fetch the contract."

"Full payment—simpler. And it's in stock, right?"

Hearing "full payment," the manager lit up, grabbing the POS from a salesgirl.

She simpered: "Of course, ready to drive away. Processing now."

He swiped the card eagerly.

The POS spat out a long receipt.

Beep—payment successful.

Silence fell as the receipt kept printing.

Even Li Xudong, who'd mocked loudest, unclenched his fists.

His face burned; moments ago he'd lectured on the Ferrari's prowess—now Jiang Cheng owned it.

Li Xudong felt like a stray dog.

Watching Zhou Ying's gaze at Jiang Cheng…

…he finally woke up.

A man who could drop eight million on a Ferrari lived in another stratosphere.

What right had he to feel aggrieved?

To compete? He'd only humiliate himself.

Realizing this, he sighed and slunk to the back.

Manager beamed, returning the card: "Mr. Jiang, I'll handle the paperwork. Please enjoy tea in our VIP Lounge?"

Jiang Cheng waved it off: "No need—carry on."

"Understood. Zhou Ying, look after Young Master Jiang."

She nodded: "Got it, Manager."

Once he left, Zhou Zhiyun snapped out of it, thumping Jiang Cheng's shoulder: "Didn't know you were a super-rich kid keeping low profile at school!"

Xu Ya's eyes sparkled: "I've never ridden in a Ferrari—take me later!"

Everyone knew Jiang Cheng wasn't poor…

…but this loaded? Shocking.

Xu Ya: favorability +5!

Jiang Yun, ever perceptive, teased: "Xu Ya, he bought it for Zhou Ying. Two seats—no room for you."

"Why not? I'll sit passenger. Zhou Ying's working; guys ask her to pose in cars all day."

Xu Ya's tone turned sour again.

Seeing her favorability hit 95, Jiang Cheng felt a chill.

Ignoring her, he lifted his chin toward Zhou Ying: "Jiang Yun's right—only Zhou Ying fits this car."

Xu Ya snorted, glaring at Zhou Ying.

"I heard you and Zhao Jia split. Was it because of Zhou Ying?"

Zhou Ying's eyes widened.

She'd seen how tender Jiang Cheng was with Zhao Jia; the breakup stunned her.

"My reasons with Zhao Jia are private—and not about Zhou Ying. But yes, Zhou Ying's gorgeous; any guy would like her."

Zhou Ying blushed, turning away.

She whispered, "Thank you, Jiang Cheng."

"Classmates, no need. I really came to buy, not to recite." He shot Li Xudong a pointed look.

Li Xudong kept his head down, scrolling his phone as if none of it concerned him.

Cheng Zhipeng's eyes lit up again: "Jiang Cheng—this the Patek 5160?"

Jiang Cheng nodded: "You know both cars and watches?"

Praised, Cheng Zhipeng beamed: "I spotted it earlier but wasn't sure. After an eight-million Ferrari, a million-plus Patek has to be real."
